      I agree. I like his other videos and who doesn't like Independence. I'll likely never have the cash to do these crazy builds, some of which I wouldn't do even if I had the money. BUT VGG's down to earth approach is my absolute favorite. He's definitely much more like your friend down the street than some guy with unlimited funds doing crazy things. Plus he doesn't just destroy cars. I really, really don't like people just destroying vehicles for shock value. It's kind of insulting really, to those of us who work for living. Derek and crew are one of the few automotive shows I actually enjoy. Thanks to Derek and his family for making entertainment for people like us.

    In the RUclips automotive world, it doesn't get any better than Derek! This guy is a genuinely hard working, old-school mechanic with down home values! He may add a little corn for entertainment, but he's 100% authentic! And if you watch his stuff, not only will you have a good time, get a few laughs, but you will learn a thing or two about cars that are slowly going away. Many mechanics these days won't work on a carburetor, they don't know how to set points, and they are slowly forgetting what a timing light is. It's fun to work on these cars! It reminds me of better days, sitting in the garage with my pop working on his El Camino or my mom's Oldsmobile. By the time I was in highschool I could do all the basic maintenance on top of change all the fluids, change and rotate tires, do full tune ups - plugs, wires, belts, oil, even blades! I could rebuild a carburetor just sitting at the kitchen table. Damn those were good times! Thanks Derek! You're content is unmatched! 👍🙂❤️

    My husband and I love your channel Derek. My husband never misses a video you put out. No matter what he's doing he has to put your channel on. He loves what you do and the way you do it and the reasons you do it. He always says... There should be more fellas in this world like this fella. He always ends his comments with... keep On Motoring Brother. Because you remind him of his younger brother that passed away last year. His brother watched your channel as well. They were very close brothers. Either one of them would have done whatever it takes to help the other. I didn't know his brother that well. But what I did know of him. I can surely see why my husband appreciates your channel. You remind him a lot of his brother. His brother was quite the comedian when he wanted to be. Sorry for such a long comment. And with as many subscribers that you have. I'm sure you probably won't even get a chance to read this. But I had to get it out there. My husband isn't the crying type of man. But a few of your videos, I believe when your brother appeared in them my husband literally turned his head as he was watching the video. I know he dropped tears in memory of his brother. He always tells me that he will be a lifetime subscriber to your channel. And that you're the only one that he feels is worth the little bit of money to become a member. I love this man with all my heart. He's done more for me in the last 5 years then my ex-husband did for me in 28 years. It makes me feel good inside knowing that there are good men in this world and they can make you feel more than what you really are everyday. Keep up the wonderful channel Derek for I know my husband will watch every video you put out and he tries to comment on every video you put out, as well as shares your channel everywhere he can and he tells all his friends and family to watch your channel and to subscribe to your channel. He says, if there's anyone thats a RUclipsr deserves the subscribers you have, it is surely you. I want to say... Thank you for being who you are sir. More people in this world like you would make this world a hell of a lot better. Excuse my expression with the word hell. And your wife seems like a total sweetheart. And you have some great boys. Your wife and yourself are doing a wonderful job with those boys. We both enjoy your channel but really enjoy when the whole family's involved. It's nice to see a family come together and do things together and create memories. As my husband would say... Keep On Motoring Brother sir. Well I added the sir part. Lol Thank you for being you Derek!!!

I still think about a 1971 Continental that a client sold to me for $ 1 dollar. Evicted the ground-chucks, and drove it for a year. I'm 60yrs and live in Michigan, can't find them anymore. That engine & transmission went on to power a "74" Gran Torino and then a "good" Cobra replica. Nice Mercury, good job. J.

    That Z28 in the background just made me smile, what a beautiful car. Reminds me of my step-dad so much.
    Thank you for providing such amazing content Derek, we greatly appreciate your time and personality. Keep on chargin-whirlin!

    That is absolutely the most badass car ever on this show and maybe ever. Even the 4 door makes it look cool, no hubcaps, raised white letters. I would never have thought it would look better w/o fender skirts! A crate (n0n-smog) 460 and trans rebuild - possibly the best car ever. If I weren't bankrupt from my other classic gems I'd love to have it but as we know, even if it's free, they cost a fortune to own. But thanks a million for this show!

    Your reaction when the water jets hit the car was priceless, actually the whole car wash was hilarious 🤣. You can’t beat classic American cars Derek, you know that. Especially a boat like that. That car was luxury back in its prime. I hope you or someone you know will bring it back to it’s glory. It’ll be a good looking car!!! 👍

When he was killed in 1990 , my brother and I went and got it ...... the car is a great reminder of my Dad , he was like you Derek - loved to fix up older rigs . You & this episode flooded my head with those old , loving memories with my Dad !! Thank-You for what you do for us fans 💗 PS - This is a Great car -- if you could keep it & restore it as much ass possible / Dad would be happy !! xo

    Hi there! If memory serves me correctly, you pushed forward on the turn signal lever for the tilt wheel.
    I worked at a Ford dealership in ’74 and a Lincoln /Mercury dealership in ’77 and ‘78 prepping new cars from the factory. This brought back a lot of memories. Thanks so much and keep these videos coming!

      I was thinking the same about the tilt wheel. The turn signal lever is the lock on the tilt. I think it is to pull the lever towards you to move the wheel. I had a 76 Thunderbird for a short time, and it did have the tilt wheel.

    Enjoy your vids. Keep ‘em coming. Vacuum modulator’s diaphragm was leaking and you were burning transmission fluid thru its vacuum line to the manifold . That’s why there was no drippage.
    The trans vacuum line usually comes in on a rear cylinder. Captain or drinker side so that would account for one cylinder dying.
    Brakes working is amazing after all that time!!!

    • @tallpaulsynd
      @tallpaulsynd 2 года назад

      I agree with that assessment. My ‘91 Ford E350 did the same thing, C6 transmission, vacuum modulator was feeding the engine ATF. I could smell burnt ATF in the exhaust. New vacuum modulator fixed it.

    I’ve always have a soft spot for 70’s Ford and Mercury large cars and a 460 is the icing on the cake. I would love to see a Big Block Ford Rebuild and resurfaced the exhaust manifolds to fix the exhaust leak maybe service the shift machine and a shift kit to firm up gear changes.

    • @gymshoe8862
      @gymshoe8862 Год назад

      There is always room for a good 460 on the shelf. At least open it up and see what is good and what's not, A rebuild video would be popular, and you might have a good engine/trans for the next ford truck that needs one.

      It’s a testament to the old crazy Detroit iron, he finds these old cars and with a little gas, cleaning fluids, grease, and some wrenching and know how they still can get a guy home 550 miles away…we will see, but in 50 years I bet these cars today don’t hold up nearly as well…
