    Just when I think I don’t need another watch, I realise I need a Pelagos 39 😂

Absolute killer watch - vintage sub feels with modern tech at half the price
    Wants not to love

Looks and feels nothing whatsoever like a vintage sub

    • @BenMwatches

@@whereRbearsTeeth didn’t say looks, the titanium gives it the vintage weight and case dimensions are very close to those 5 digit subs
But just my opinion of course - and my wearing experience

I hope they come out with that same blue as on the 42mm.

Again I'm on the same radar with you J. Just got the 42 ETA heavily patina 2015 model. The 39 was too small for me I've got just under 8's. Good, frank, candid review I'd love the black bay pro but it's a no hoper on my wrist 😢

Full disclaimer, I'm still in the honeymoon phase of ownership; but I feel ever since acquiring my Pelagos 39 (which I spent 9 months on a waitlist for), my desire to own a Submariner has vanished.
When I objectively look at what i wanted from a Submariner like a satisfying bezel action and adjustible clasp, I get it from wearing this Pelagos.
While it doesn't have the provenance and heritage of a Submariner, it doesn't have the stress and self consciousness of one either.

Addendum, I could never really appreciate the Black Bays (the 54 being the exception) because there were too minor annoyances; the faux rivets, the clasp, but most importantly, for me, the round indices combined with the snowflake hands.
I've historically disliked disliked snowflake hands, but with square indices, I feel there is more cohesion between the various shapes on the dial.
The reason the Black Bay 54 appeals to me, is largely because they toned down the usage of the "snowflake" shape to just the hour hand, which I feel works better with circular indices.

Really looking forward to a blue one, glad its serving you well ! The Tudor Sub was the proper Mil-Sub used by special forces all over the world, even rhodesian special forces. Get on to Ross Povey of Tudor Collector, superb interviews on RUclips and his website is the number one resource

My Black Bay 58 also runs about -2 seconds per day... Would much rather it run fast.

WHOA if the 42mm Pelagos was big on your wrist, it'll be way too big on me!

Tried it on. Felt very shiny and lifeless. Probably just me...EDIT - having seen the video... I'm wondering if I should look at this again. The "shine" I refer to was the brushed bezel.. Maybe it's not as bad as I remember, and the specs seem very cool.... May be worth to see this AND the Black Bay 54...
I love your point about wearing what's not yet cool... Just wear what YOU love - whatever that is

I really like the idea of a Tudor-Rolex connection, quality, history, etc, but can’t get myself to like the aesthetic. Just not a fan of the boxy snowflake hands. I got my first watch about a month and a half ago-Seamaster 300 Heritage. I wasn’t falling in love with it, and traded it back in to my dealer toward a Sapphire Speedmaster Professional. I’m totally in love with this one and plan to wear it all the time, except at work unfortunately as I am a painting contractor.

42mm with a lug to lug 50mm is not too big on a 7.5" wrist there will be no overhang , that's just an excuse., For something else . The thickness may be an issue but as it is only 1mm thicker than most omega I doubt it especially as you aren't "a suit guy "

You made me laugh on this one James...it also drives me crazy when a watch looses time rather than gain (even if it is a few seconds)
On a side note, my Tudor BB58 was loosing about 2 seconds from brand new and after about two months of being on and off the wrist, it settled to +2 sec per daya nd it has remained like that ever since...maybe take this off for a few days, let the power reserve run down completely and give it a fresh wind (who knows, stranger things have happened)
Excellent video btw, really enjoyed it

Interesting video, I have the opposite feeling to you. Any watch 40mm and under feels too small on my wrist. I would but a Rolex Deepsea at 44mm over a 40mm Submariner and I have the 42mm Pelagos in a blue and feel that is about as small as I would want to go. The Pelagos is such a great watch though - feels totally indestructible and a genuine go anywhere watch.

With -2 a day, you could just set the watch 30secs fast a month and then advance it 1 minute at the start of each month.

Would have been nice to see some video of it on your wrist as you gave your thoughts and not just an occasional glance. I’ve tried one on at an AD and it did feel small on my 7” wrist but that’s because I’d a 42mm Tag on that day!! 😊 Still looking to get the Pelagos before they increase the price again 😅

Absolutely NOT! Don't say silly things, not in finishing, not in movement (third party kenisi), not in heritage, not in anything. Don't buy bad quality things.

39mm on a 7.5” wrist is too small!
