- In the immediate aftermath of the attempt on Trump's life, 8 News Now spoke with a handful of Las Vegas residents and one woman in town from New York to visit her daughter.
No mention of the person who actually died...
They want to notify the family first. Usually you wont even get a victims name until the family has been notified. The family can also tell them not to give the name as well.

@@jimwerther The interview he mentioned did happen and the guy in it looks like he is serious (if not a bit shaken up by it all at certain places), so he definitely believes what he is saying.
That said it's hard to know what police and others were really doing. Information may have been radioed and they might not be allowed to leave their position etc... So time will tell if police and secret service handled it wrong or not, but the story that people spotted the shooter with the rifle on the roof a minute or more before the shots is almost certainly true.

It does appear that many networks (not just CNN), in breaking the news initially, toned down the language. It was after all another of his small town yippie rallies, so not too many had boots on the ground. Of course, as things became clearer, they used the appropriate description for what happened. An attempted assassination.
Of course, they're no longer reporting that he fell down. That language disappeared literally in a couple hours after the rally, and was only floating around thanks to weirdos anxious to start an anti-CNN rage party.
Which was and is stupid. So many other networks used the same language. And a few small time networks still even have it up... But agendas must “agend”, I guess.

What information was given during this terrible coverage? No victim names, interviews with people who don't know what's going on...the one guy says "I hope he gets better, or whatever". No name of the shooter, no mention of really anything relevant. CBS would have had better coverage if they had NO coverage.
They almost never give out names until families are notified , it's standard practice. It's also a one minute interview with one witness, how much info do you expect there to be?
