UPDATE: Carlee has officially been arrested and charged with one count of false reporting to law enforcement authorities and one count of falsely reporting an incident. Each charge carries up to a year in jail. Carlee turned herself in and was released on bond shortly after.
Very disappointing that she’s basically getting a slap on the wrist for doing something so awful. Meanwhile people get charged far worse for less. The system is so screwed.
I think she should have to serve time; to teach a lesson. So many people of all ages missing who could of used the hours spent searching for her. There was even a mama who’s daughter had gone missing then found deceased 32 days later there with Carlee’s family helping. I can’t image how she much feel knowing this was all fake. Its disgusting!!!!!

She has to serve at least a year in jail. She needs to learn what she did is not ok
Hopefully she will also have to pay restitution for all of the rea sources used to search for her, as well as the GoFundMe money raised. I also think that she shouldn’t be able to become a nurse due to her character (being willing to make false 911 calls, false statements to police, stealing from her employer, etc.). Hopefully she will get jail time because if she only gets a slap on the wrist, it doesn’t deter others from creating these hoaxes.
The video of Alissa telling Sarah "Dad's a pervert!" is haunting. It will probably stay with me the rest of my life. Rest in peace, Alissa. Unbelievable that monster was acquitted.

My father, sexually molested me my entire life and was about to do it to my younger sister, and listening to Sarahs story gave me so much hope and much faith that I could do something about it and I finally got him arrested and my baby is safe. I don’t know if you will ever see this, but I just want Sarah to know that she helped me so much and she is such an inspiration for people like me.

As a person who runs a restaurant, whether it’s a chicken nugget that’s precooked or raw, the health inspector views it as chicken and it must be cooked to a certain temperature or you can be shut down. That temperature is an internal temperature not an external, so it’s pretty hot. I can see putting a disclaimer but we also can’t take away some expectation that a parent should be somewhat responsible to check the food they feed their children. It wasn’t that the child burned their hand. The nugget was wedged so it would start burning skin and keep burning skin until it was removed from skin contact. I feel bad for the child but I still think some responsibility falls to the parent as well.
My thoughts exactly. You can put a disclaimers all over on anything you want but at the end of the day people still be careful and have some common sense.

Agreeed! I was a GM at McDonald’s for several years and we have to make sure things are cooked to a certain temperature it’s a requirement so if you get a fresh nugget it is obviously hot. The box says caution hot. And McDonald’s may make that per day but their overhead is EXPENSIVE and McDonald’s are mostly franchised and owned by a family. So just because they “have a ton of money” doesn’t mean they should pay for the mother being negligent and not checking the box first.
These cases create a dangerous precedent for the future. I feel awful for all business owners honestly people will do a lot for a check and it’s a damn shame. I’m honestly disappointed in their take on this 😢
The Carlee Russell situation makes me so angry. Missing minority women in this country do not get enough media coverage as it is. We all know media bias is very real. This did not help this, and only gives ammo to the bigots.

I’d be so shamed if Carlee was my child. The anger and disgust I have towards her is beyond words. She does not deserve privacy. Sherri Papini didn’t get privacy. Because of her every single person in the black community making a report will be met with even more hesitation than before. Infuriating.

I’m not trying to give her excuses but I think the difference between her and Papini’s case for now is just that we don’t have all the info yet... we don’t even know if there’s a mental health issue of some kind. This wasn’t staged for months and involving raising funds like we know happened with Papini. I think Carlee for sure needs to be held accountable regardless but I also think the public should lay low before we have ALL the details... let the truth come out first.

Just think so long as she’s getting investigated and stuff the rest of us can still take a step back until we have all the details. Even though I fully understand and agree that it’s a super upsetting thing to happen (especially knowing how rare it is for missing black women to get so much attention and coverage as she did). 😕

Whatever sentence she does get I hope she uses it to get her mental health in check (if she is suffering from mental health issues) and to reflect on how her actions affect future missing persons

Unpopular opinion: It's the parent's responsiblility to check the food before passing it back to their kid. McDonald's is cooked by mostly teenagers. You can't just assume the world is safe for your kid. If I buy scissors for my kid that say they are safe for kids, I'm still going to monitor my kid with the scissors.

I agree. Yes, mcdonalds needs to be following guidelines and making sure their food isn't going to injure people, but as parents, it's ultimately our job to keep our kids safe. It takes two seconds to check before you hand them the food. Plus letting kids eat in the car isn't really a good idea as they can choke (no judgment, I do it too when I'm short on time, just a PSA).

I mean, while I do think it was fair on the McDonald’s settlement, but as a mother, I check the temperature of any food before I give it to my child. I do feel like the mom had some responsibility in this as well. This isn’t all on McDonald’s. To solely blame them is absurd and taking parental aspect out of it when there was.
I do too. I’d much rather burn myself than my literal child. To ask for 15 million is ridiculous.

Carlee case- her 911 call gave her away! No panic! I would be mama bear freaking out and so worried for the child to go into traffic and she wasn’t bothered at all so clear she was lying
I work at Starbucks. Whenever I make a kids hot chocolate, I make damn sure it's at kid's temp which is 130° there. If I forget to steam it on a lower temp, I redo it. I have kids and I only hand off what I would deem appropriate for my kids (regarding temps). There is no reason those nuggets were that hot. Poor girly.
They are cooked to the temperature they are supposed to be according to the health department or whoever. They literally get visits all the time to make sure the food is up to that temperature. If it's not it can't be sold as it's not up to a safe temperature to eat. The worker should have told the mom that the nuggets just came up. But the mom should have also assumed that food is hot and check it before giving it to the kid. I don't see how the kid dropping it and not picking it up right away is McDonald's fault.
Hot chocolate doesn’t have to be hot to be sold, it doesn’t have to reach temp to be “food safe” hot chocolate is not the same as a “warm maybe frozen in the middle chicken nugget” which could still get someone sick. McDonald’s nuggets are flash fried and frozen and then sent to the store, when they’re frozen they’re cooked but freezing flash fried food causes bacteria. Which is why it has to be recooked to kill bacteria. People complain if they get cold food from fast food and try and sue if it’s too hot? It’s 100% the parents fault. Even in a rush my mom used to always check my food and make sure it was a safe temperature for me to eat.
I live in AZ & a lot is happening right now. Alissa Turney & then Alicia Navarro was just found. She went missing in AZ in 2019 & just walked into a police station at 18 years old in Montana
Soooo upset about the news on Michael Turney! I hadn’t heard that yet and I’m devastated…. Truly a miscarriage of justice!!! Sarah has worked so hard to get justice and this feels like SUCH a huge loss!
I work at a McDonald’s and I always tell customers when their fries just came out of the fryer ESPECIALLY happy meals. HOWEVER due to our food safety visits we have to cook food at a higher temperature than normal because it’s required by them, not the managers, not the owners. And they expect so much from workers that get paid minimum wage and say they don’t deserve more because it should be a job for teenagers well then that’s the service you get!

i feel like as a society we’re also way too comfortable with shaming the people being taken advantage of rather than the scammer/perpetrator themselves. it’s disappointing to see how so many people are going to be hesitant to believe missing persons because they feel stupid for believing this whole thing. it’s never your fault that u believed someone when they said they needed help. the way people were jumping to conclusions while she was still actively missing with limited information out then screaming “i told u so!” “i knew it!” “it never made sense” at everyone else makes those people not to say anything or spread the word because they’d rather be wrong & quiet then wrong & made to feel stupid & gullible by everyone else.
You never know what people and coworkers are capable of. I used to work in the kitchen at a nursing home, and there was this nurse that worked there for YEARS and she was the sweetest lady and everyones favorite nurse. One day her husband calls the front desk and tells the receptionist that the nurse had been stealing from people there and shE WASN'T EVEN A NURSE! She had brought her newborn to work to show everyone, aand while another nurse was holding her baby she wwas stealing from her wallet! Went to walmart and bought a new tv and clothes and a kitchenaid3, NOTHING for the baby. My nursing home ended up having to pay back every single patient she had ever come in contact with, and she had worked there for almost 6 years, that is a TON of money!! You never know anybody.
For Carlee to mess with the publics minds, her family, her boyfriend, her coworkers, etc. She is EVIL for doing this. This case is going to be referred to for years to come as a reason to not act right away when people go missing, and that is so incredibly selfish of this woman.
