    I love how, when talking about his upbringing he said, “not only a religious family, but conservative and closed minded” because they don’t always go hand in hand. You can be religious and still open minded and excepting of everybody.

    When Kendall was discussing how to be the best parent she can to her daughter and creating a safe space for her to be herself fully made me cry. The unconditional love for her daughter is so apparent. So many people would have been so lucky to have love like that growing up.

    When he said his parents disowned him, it was like a punch to the gut for me. My dad disowned me when I was 16 for getting pregnant with my daughter, she’s biracial and we didn’t speak for a few years. Fast forward..lots of support from my husband and mom and my therapist..I was able to let go and be free. But it’s the ultimate betrayal. It can’t ever be fully healed.

    • @bonnylouwho76
      @bonnylouwho76 Год назад +5

      Casey, I am so sorry that your father chose to disown you in that manner, it is WRONG! I have watched my ex treat our daughters like this because their lives are not "conventional," ( according to he and his wives, controlling and narrow, self-serving set of quick-sand fast justifications.) I don't know if you were able to keep and raise your beautiful baby girl with those circumstances. Just know that you honored her and were a true loving mother to her to allow her to grow her under your heart, and to give her life. I am so thankful that you have your husband, your Mom, and your therapist to provide you with the love and support that you need. Thank-you for reaching out and allowing us to know about your personal narrative. I could not conceive of disowning any of my children, even when they may lash out and hurt me because of things that they are going through with the behavior of someone else in their lives.

    • @caseyg12
      @caseyg12 Год назад +2

      @@bonnylouwho76 I truly appreciate your kind words 🥹 I have 3 children now I could never ever imagine hurting them in that way. It’s a deep cut and it takes YEARS to grieve and work through. I’ve finally come to realize that it wasn’t my responsibility to make him be a parent..I was and still am his child, he failed..not me.
      My daughter is going to be 17 this year, the same age I was when I had her and she blows my mind everyday and I’m so so grateful to watch her thrive in ways I never did. My other two are still small, 5 and 3. Watching all of them grow up has been such a huge blessing for me because I know I’m giving them the life I didn’t have 🥹
      I truly, truly hope your daughters and yourself can overcome what your ex is doing. It’s so unfair. I hope your daughters can live a full and happy life and understand that it isn’t their faults. Some people just aren’t meant to be in our lives. As heartbreaking as it is, one day he will regret not being there and treating them the way he is 🥺 y’all don’t deserve any of it. Karma will do it’s job 🖤

    To add. Have a safety plan. If you feel like your safety is at risk and you still want to come out, have someone you can go to. Do not come out when you cannot leave the situation. Have a friend if possible on standby where their parents or partner etc will welcome you with open arms and help keep you safe from "those people". Also if you feel your safety is in jeopardy with your family/community remember these people don't deserve to know you, your business or your heart. Your true authentic self is a gift to the people who love you and shouldn't ever be giving it to anyone who doesn't worship the ground you walk on.
    I'm a big believer in that you shouldn't have to come out as who you love is your business however that isn't the world we live in. Please be safe and as I said be strategic with your moment. Plan for worst and best case and always put yourself above them. You are the most important person on this planet. You.

    I was so moved by his talk about how he was brought up. I was brought up similarly but not mormon, Christian, mainly baptist i suppose.
    For me it was hard to deconstruct from my religious beliefs and dealing with my family being hurt and distancing themselves but they never disowned me…I can’t imagine what that would feel like. I know what it feels to be lonely and not to have a support system anymore but they were still there ultimately there, and they told me they loved me and we still talked monthly if not weekly.
    Everything you said moved me to tears…
    I love you! I have four children and hope they feel comfortable with anything enough
    To be open about it and that they feel supported in their choices. I do not go out of my way buying toys that are purposefully “girl” things or my son “boy” things but I do listen and pay attention to what they enjoy and that’s all I can do. I also am so open. They know I support the LGBTQIA’s community and so right there, they know they’re safe.
    Thank you for sharing, it is being vulnerable even if it gets easier over time, it’s so honorable ❤

    Unpopular opinion about Rihanna's show: Loved it! 10/10! I grew up dancing and have been teaching for 20 years and I think it was meant to be about the overall visual effect not about individual aspects like costume, props, or even identity. If you can find a version of it that is just from a far like it would have looked live the visual aspect of the white vs Queen Rih in red its amazing!
    Edit to say: I grew up LDS and in a very small town in AZ. Fast forward to my parents getting divorced after 30 years and my Mom left the church. Now my Dad is remarried and one of my step brothers is gay. I have a child and have never been married. 3 of us aren't in the church and I chose to not have my son associated with church records at all. Our family is so much more open minded and supportive now. Our core family value is LOVE and even though most of my family is still active LDS we have all grown together through our hard times and its amazing to see what a difference focusing on love has had. The grandkids are growing up with open conversations and learning to not be judgemental and its such a different upbringing than me and my siblings had.

    Absolutely love this episode! Since this is an episode focused around skincare and healthy skin I wanted to leave my personal recommendation for skin care makeup, I’ve been a professional makeup artist for 7 years and I don’t use anything on clients that aren’t 100% clean beauty! A lot of people don’t know much about the mineral skincare makeup world but once you try it omg it’s life changing! The reason I’m recommending this to you guys is because I know you all like to wear some makeup so I think you’ll really like to try this out:). The line is Jane Iredale and it’s fully transparent on ingredients being minerals and fully natural and lots of their foundations have a built in mineral SPF’s which is a game changer. This line isn’t trending because it is only carried in medi spas and dermatologist offices but the best thing is it’s comparable in price to Sephora lines but it’s skincare built in the makeup. Most places that carry this line will book free consultations to shade match and pick the right products for you! The PurePressed base foundation is a powder spf full coverage foundation that isn’t dry and I’m not kidding it’s incredible! Love you guys🥰

If your skin is feeling rough, congested, this mask will leave it feeling so smooth and clean. I can't recommend it enough! And my second rec is the Ole Henriksen PHAT mask. As someone who has been out for several months and still practices religion. It's so difficult to not having a support system that you can go to is frustrating. But I still have some people in my life who have accepted me. I feel like people who are homophobic are close-minded and truly don't know and have taught the norm that straight is the right to live your life. So if anyone reading this comment, it's easier said then done but you are enough and loved and there are so many people out there who aren't family that will show that unconditional love and support. I really appreciated this video and Hyram for being so open about this topic because this can be an eye opener for some people who have a hard time. 💜

    Hi ! I wanted to share my experience with the oatmeal thing.
    My daughter has atopic skin and a lot of moms told me to put oats in a cloth, let it soak in the bathtub and bathe her in this oat milk water.
    It changed our lives honestly 😊

    I feel like if you show your child a proper way to receive and show love and show her life experiences, that’s what makes someone a good person. It’s so complex, and the time to learn and grow will never end but the foundational ways that people know how to treat others is what truly is important.

    Hyrum, I am sad to know that you felt so disenfranchised with regards to The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints." I have lived in Arizona, I have close family that live there as well. My very best male friends growing up were LGBTQ ( when noone ever talked about it.) I figured out when I was really little that my friends had been hurt very badly by someone ( I had as well) which meant I was that much more determined to be protective and loving with them as well. They were always respectful and protective of me as well.We all loved one another, our friend Doug died from AIDS during the early 80's and I have always missed him, I still do. My daughters have said to me, " Mom, we were so thankful that you were always so accepting and caring for everyone, because it helped us, when we came to realize what our identity is." I was just being myself, trying to be open to seeking to love people for their own hearts because I feel that it all starts with our hearts and souls.

    Imagine raising your child, being with them every day at every major milestone of their life, from teaching them about life to bringing them to school, making them dinner, kissing them good night, making beautiful memories with them - only to disown them because of their sexual orientation. I simply cannot understand. If I have a child, they will be a PART OF ME. They are a core aspect of your life from the moment they are born. How could you just let them go like that? I could never, ever... Poor Hyram. I feel deeply saddened on his behalf. Your parents are supposed to be the people who will love you unconditionally that you can always rely on for support. It's awful that he had to experience them being so selfish and inconsiderate of their own child's feelings. I am glad he came out of the situation as such a warm, kind, and generous person.

  • @Verifiedsinger

    I have never heard of Hyram, but he is a total sweetheart. I am sorry to all that can't be themselves and when they do let down their guard, they're disowned by their family. It really breaks my heart that family could turn away their own flesh and blood because their children want to be themselves. I think it comes down to ignorance. I don't say that to be mean, but people will always want people to conform to their beliefs because they honestly and truly believe that that is the best for themselves and others. But how can they in the same breath, turn away their loved ones while totally contradicting their own beliefs? I don't think people should have to agree with anything they don't want to, in having said that, just because you don't agree with someone's life choices doesn't mean you can't love and respect them. I think people lose sight of that. And that's a damn shame.
