    Thanks to RUclips I can now show my grandchildren where my absurd sense of humor came from. Mel Brooks and Buck Henry.

    Loved this episode, one of many! Season 5 was underrated. A couple clunkers exist, true, but the format change had overall more hits and a needed breath of fresh air. Wish this series would be released on blu-ray.

    "We've known for some time now that an enemy spy satellite has been taking pictures of our spy satellite. That package contains film that our spy satellite took of their spy satellite taking pictures of our spy satellite." Hah Hah Hah !!
    I still visualize Tennessee Tuxedo and his side kick Chumly every time I hear Don Adams speak on this show.

      I believe the origin of this joke was from the flight of Apollo 9 the year before, in March of 1969. During that mission, astronauts Rusty Schweikart & Dave Scott conducted a joint EVA, with Schweickart doing a space walk from the LEM and Scott sticking up from out of the hatch of the CM. Scott & Schweickart were photographing each other as they floated around in space. This was televised and Scott made a comment/joke that they were getting pictures of people taking pictures of people taking pictures.

    I went through a renaissance of enjoying this series again very much about 10 years ago on MeTV, after not seeing it for a very long time prior to that, having forgotten its zippy, often quite witty humor, a wacky spoof of Cold War espionage. Having forgotten the vast amount of episodes, the series was totally fresh to me, a good feeling. I was in the mood for its vanished type of comedy. Seeing Don Adams again was like a breath of fresh air. Clearly, he was one of TV's most unique comic actors. Somehow, once again, I haven't seen the series in, as I said, about 10 years. Coming across this clip by chance has put me in the mood for it again. I hope I'll enjoy it as much. Depends, I think, where certain types of humor or shows find one at a particular time in their lives. Perhaps I'll find the series as delightful as I did10 years ago!

    How come I don’t remember this? I saw Get Smart in the 60’s on TV when young and then later when I was working in a TV company, I asked to rerun this. The producer asked me if this was any good and I told that sure, it was created by Mel Brooks.

    • @BladeRunner-td8be
      @BladeRunner-td8be 3 года назад +2

      It sounds like you already now this but just in case:
      "Despite a widespread belief that Mel Brooks wrote the entire series, he is in fact credited as a writer on only three episodes:
      #1: "Mr. Big (with Buck Henry)
      #10 "Our Man in Leotards" (with Gary Belkin)
      #15: "Survival of the Fattest" (with Ronny Pearlman)"
      I believe he left the show VERY early to work on a movie he wrote called, "The Producers" imo it's a masterpiece like almost all of his work.
      Cheers, John Noe

    Love the knowing look on her face as Max inflates the balloon, as if she knows exactly what he's up to - based on the fact that he's just about to inflate a banana balloon and insta-connect it wi-fi to the Chief's office.

      I missed that. It's so subtle and if noticed it's hilarious. Makes me wonder how many other subtle things I missed when watching the show. Regardless of that though, the things I did notice had me laughing for a large percentage of the time.
