- Get Smart was a huge hit in the mid-1960s, parodying the popular James Bond film series. The Get Smart cast became some of the most well-known faces on television at the time. Sadly, most of the cast members have passed away over the last several years.

Stacy Keach Sr. played the part of Carlson, a CONTROL scientist, on the show. He had been acting for many years before the show debuted but by that time, he was already working as the head of an industrial film company. The role of Carlson made it difficult for him to manage both positions, and he eventually left the show.
Dick Gauthier was a multi-faceted entertainer. In addition to being part of the Get Smart cast, he was a comedian, singer, and caricaturist. He was a frequent panelist on popular game shows in the 1970s and 1980s but was best known for playing the role of Hymie the Robot on Get Smart.
King Moody appeared on many popular television shows of the era but was best known for the role of Shtarker on Get Smart. He also played the part of Ronald McDonald in McDonald’s commercials from 1969 to 1985.
Robert Karvelas was Don Adams’ cousin and joined the cast of Get Smart through that family connection. He played the part of Larabee, the assistant to the Chief.
Edward Platt was an operatically trained singer who went on to appear in many popular television shows in the 1950s and 1960s. He’s best known for the role of the Chief on Get Smart.
Don Adams was the lead character in the Get Smart cast, playing agent Maxwell Smart. His portrayal of the character was a huge pop culture hit but ended up typecasting him for most of his career afterward.

The Avengers TV series.
Agent 99 !!!!! Shalom
My favorite gadget they used was the "cone of silence" -always laughed out loud whenever Max insisted on using it(always felt sorry for the Chief!)
Remember the episode with the the 'portable cone of silence'?
Also as Inspector Gadget, LOL
❤️ the shoe phone ' greatest gidget ever
RIP Max and Chief....your roles were comedic genius....
I think my dad put it best. 'Get Smart' was based on stupidity. He was right & it was down right funny. Thank you Buck Henry & Mel Brooks.
Thanks for watching, Dave!
Barbara Feldon and Don Adams were my favorites on the show, but the scripts and plots of the show were extremely funny. So funny that I remember in 1966 people would recite lines and phrases from the show. It was good 1960’s comedy. Will never be replicated. 👍👍👍👍❤️
Thanks for watching, Jason!
This was good clean comedy at it’s best !
Mel Brooks and Comedy are synonymous !
We need them back !
Trivia note: Edward Platt played a secret agent in the Hitchcock movie North By Northwest. His character name was Victor LARRABEE.
No a lawyer
@@alannowland9300 I stand corrected. It's been quite a while since I watched this movie.
Don Adams, a USMC drill instructor. I can't even begin to comprehend that. 😂
"Get Smart" was created by Mel Brooks & Buck Henry-One of the funniest sitcoms of all time!
I love Get Smart I have the entire series and Barbara “99” Felldon was gorgeous.
Thanks for watching, Doug!
@@FactsVerse not a problem
Yes. I always found her gorgeous and smart.
1960's comedies just worked: Get Smart, The Addams Family, The Munsters, Batman and the like. If shows were like that now, I would turn on my TV. Also, in the 1960's and into the 70's there was no cable. Maybe 7 or 8 television stations if you were lucky to receive even that many. Even with so few TV stations, there was more that you would want to watch, than on the hundreds you can tune in today. :/
Don Adams also provided the voice for the cartoon characters of Tennessee Tuxedo and Inspector Gadget; another deceased cast member was Victor French who played the role of Agent 44 as well as Isaiah Edwards on Little House On The Prairie, Chief Roy Mobey on Carter Country and Mark Gordon on Highway To Heaven - he passed away in 1989 at age 54
Thanks for watching, Timothy!
@@FactsVerse Actually Barbara Feldon is the only surviving cast member; Bernie Kopell only had a recurring role, and was not a part of the regular cast, so to me, he doesn't count, as well as Dick Gautier.
@john woodham Don Adams also voiced his own character in The New Scooby-Doo Movies episode The Exterminator.
A other show was checking it out staring Don Adams.
OK, I'm going broke reminiscing about all my old favorite comedy shows - yesterday I ordered the full Laugh-In series and I just ordered season one of Get Smart!! I got to get a grip!
Same here!
Contracting black water fever saved Adams's life. While he was recovering the rest of his platoon was wiped out by the Japanese.
😃My Fave show of all times!! So sad about The Chief/ Ed Platt....(it saddens me, he was unable to find help for his mental issues, so sorry/sad...) He deserved far better...Just for being the 'Chief', and a person in need... Really Loved This Show...So Great, Goofy/Clever, all at Once!! The Best!! CHEERS...GET SMART!!
You forgot another tubular cast member from the series who's still living, Dave Ketchum is 93 played Agent 13 and was often seen passing along messages from inside Mail Boxes etc. to Don Adams Maxwell Smart. Indeed Adams said he based Smart's unique voice/style from William Powell best remembered as detective Nick Charles from the 1930s film franchise The Thinman movies. Adams also did the voice on cartoons during the period and Tennessee Tuxcedo the Penguin was nearly a photocopy of Maxwell Smart from the show. During its run Feldon character was never know by an actual name only by 99 even though the two characters married near its end and in the first reunion movie 99 was mentioned as being elected as President to explain why she was absent. One fun fact, Maxwell Smart's apartment set used on the show later on did double duty on Mission Impossible as Jim Phelps etc as well where he decided from a dossier who would be chosen and where the plan was laided out often in each episode.
So sad to hear so many cast members of Get Smart past away but a little concellation that Barbarba Felton and Bernie Kopell are still with us. I still on occasion re watch the show and it still brings me hours of joy..Thanks for the video
Two of those that you didn't mention were Dave Ketchum as Agents 13 & 44 (I believe that He started with 13, then they identified Him as 44) and Joey Forman as Harry Who, A Chinese Detective Parody Of Charlie Chan.
Victor French was the original Agent 44, before leaving at the end of the first season; Agent 44 was played by actor Al Molinaro for two episodes in season five.
@@KevinMiller-xn5vu Thank You for your comment & information
Good video overall.
At 1:12 , the pics were of Stacy Keach, Jr., not Sr. 😊
Interesting that the actor playing Laraby was Don Adams' cousin.
Thanks for the info and for watching! We absolutely agree! Thank you for watching our content. Be on the lookout for our next video!
@@FactsVerse You should go back and fix your screw-up showing both Stacy Keach Sr. and his son Stacy Keach as though they were the same person. That's kind of an epic fail.
Best show ever. Watch it 24/7
Got it dvd ❤️ get phone & get smatt
i find that hard to believe.
Nice piece for everyone to enjoy,
Many thanks for all of your work and videos 👍
Thanks for watching!
The last two pictures were of the Stacy Keach we know of today. He’s the son, right?
Not only the last two.
Clearly, not much research was done on that segment.
and the 4th to last as well...
Yeah, I noticed that! I can tell you there were some photos of Stacey Jr because I was a big fan of Prison Break
Loved that show!! Born in 1980, Thank God for Nick @ Night!! I loved me some Agent 99 LOL
Thanks for watching!
One fact you missed on Don Adams, he was also in a tv show in Canada called “Check it Out” and also the voice of Inspector Gadget in the DiC series Inspector Gadget
Thanks for watching!
He also had a short-lived series called, the Don Adams screen test. From Ms. Harper Stacey.
I loved get smart, but I think Barbra Feldon was my favorite. Like the Chief, she put up with Max's antics, and also her looks..... I mean, look at her! Wow! What a woman....... It was sad to see the show go and sadder still to see the cast pass away..
Thanks for watching, Robert!
8:59 Don’t forget that Diana Rigg from ‘the Avengers’ was also a role model
My mates and me would love it if Zigfried was on in the episode we were watching. We would mimic them all. Till this day, if some one asks me to do something difficult, ill answer and loving it.
How you could botch nearly everyone's last name, I have no idea. Well done!
exactly...idiots that know nothing ...but hey he has a yutube channel...helps him afford another pair of skinny jeans.
I need help installing my "Cone of Silence"
Robert Karvelas, Bernie Kopell and Barbara Feldon appeared on different episodes of McMillan and Wife.
Love don Adams whether max smart or inspector gadget both characters bumbling and funny. Talking to his shoe saying would you believe cracks me up all the time or saying go go gadget . whatever was funny too
One actor, Stacy Keach Sr, was later shown as the picture of his SON!! Stacy Keach Jr. Lol. Anyone else notice that?
Yeah, they screwed up, and refuse to fix it. Tells you a lot about this loser channel.
Stacy keach Jr was Mike Hammer
Yeah, they screwed up, and refuse to fix it. Tells you a lot about this loser channel.
Not the craw..the craw!
To me Tom Poston just wouldn't have cut it as Max, and I seriously doubt Get Smart would've lasted as long as it did with Poston as Max.
Don Adams was hilarious in this serie, but he was also in the movie Spaceballs where he did the voice of Yogurt the doll when he says:"May the Schwartz be with you". I still smile at this one liner.
0:58 that is Stacy Keach jr. not his father Stacy Keach sr..
Yeah, they screwed up, and refuse to fix it. Tells you a lot about this loser channel.
Don Adams I remember as the voice of the penguin Tennessee Tuxedo which aired with Underdog. Also the voice of Inspector Gadget. He appeared at places like The Purple Onion, The Blue Angel, Mr. Kelly's, clubs in Vancouver, Montreal, Toronto. My favorite is Don Adams being I watched Tennessee Tuxedo on Saturdays.
My favorite Get Smart characters are Siegfried and Starker because they remind me of Laurel and Hardy and Moe and Curly Howard of the 3 Stooges
I loved this show, and I still do!!
Thanks for watching, turbinexman!
@@FactsVerse "Sorry About That Chief"!! That line always made me crack up!!
I like all the characters on Get Smart, hymee the robot is my favourite
Thanks for watching, Rod!
Hymie, the robot was played by Dick Gautier.
Love your videos
Why showing pictures of Stacy Keach Sr. and Jr.? Stacy Keach Jr. is 80 and still alive.
Yeah, they screwed up, and refuse to fix it. Tells you a lot about this loser channel.
They were all memorable ( including Buck Henry and Mel Brooks) but my heart screams Max!!
I believe Don Adams was the voice of Tennessee Tuxedo also.
Yes, as well as Inspector Gadget.
I think Ed Platt as the Chief was the most important character. He had a natural gravitas and authority, and thus made it somewhat plausible that Control was an important national security agency. He had to play it straight and be deadpan all the time, as a foil to Max, and he was very good at that. Finally, the Chief had some compassion and humanity to him, seemed a bit more three dimensional than most of the others. Don and Barbara were perfect too, of course. It was a three person show.
Don Adams said that Maxwell Smart's Voice was Imitation of The Thin Man Actor, William Powell, with at Transposition Of Powell's Nick Charles, that He Raised Up An Octave and Maxwell Smart was born.
Agent 99, and nothing beats the shoe phone.
essa serie d comédia muito boa e engraçada vi e toda vez q posso a vejo os atores muito bons saudosos q muitos nos deixaram
I could never list just one favorite character on Get Smart. The core cast of Max,99, and the chief were all essential to the show. Heime used to scare me as a kid. OncecI realized that he was axgood guy, the fear of him opening his chest and seeing tape reels and gears wasn't scary anymore. Ziegfried was my favorite Kaos agent. He was funny complaining about his cohort Starker (the Maxwell Smart of kaos) . Vee don't zshhush here!! And other classic lines. The various guest villains were famous from the shows they were already acting in. Vic Tayback was the owner/ cook at Mels Diner from Alice, Victor French was Agent 42, but played Mr. French in Little house on the Prairie .
I loved all the characters of get smart.
Fun stuff, thanks for sharing! Which episode of Get Smart is your favorite?
Barbara Feldon was one of my first TV crushes ❤️
We're a big fan of Barbara too! Thank you so much for sharing your thoughts. Which episode is the most memorable for you?
That was a Great Program thanks to Don Adams who was a Hotel Detective in the “BELL BOY.” 👍👍
Thanks for watching, Jason!
You're thinking about The Bill Dana Show where Bill Dana played Jose Jiminez.
my favortie line was Miss it by that much

RIP you hard charging devil dog of the sea! Semper FI! Thank you for your service! USMC it’s hard to be humble when you are the finest
Copel also had a character part on McHale's Navy
You kept flashing from Stacy Keach Sr to Stacy Keach Jr during the Sr part of the video! 😂
Get Smart was my favorite character.
My fave. Villan was zigfried , he was as bumbling as Max at times , there is an episode on the love boat where Mr kopell allowed zigfried to come out and broke the fourth wall , my father and I shot looks and fell apart laughing , also I would have liked to see Oddball and Capt stubing cross paths ! 🍌
Thanks for watching, Gary!
Barbara Feldon because I heard she was popular with both men and women. I agree with that because she was attractive in a clean cut way and smart. Good actress too! Hard not to like that!
Thanks for watching, Margaret!
Barbara feldon appeared on an episode of cheers.
M.y favorie and love agent99 loved her
Thanks for watching, Paul!
You forget Bernie was on Bewitched as various parts
Robert karvelas had a twin brother who also appear in an episode of get Smart.
Can't say which one. They all were great in there own way.
Even today nothing can beat get smart, when it comes to comedy and suspense. The new one is nothing compared to the original.
Awesome video
Thanks for watching, Warren!
99 was my favorite
Thanks for watching, Hugh!
Barbara Feldon was a very beautiful lady.
don would be 99 right now lol what a coincidence
i like them all
Thanks for watching, Zena!
Barbara Feldon was my favorite. John.
In this video you said Stacy Keach senior but you showed a picture of Stacy Keach Jr. And also you said Dick Gautier played Robin Hood and you showed a completely different person than Dick Gautier playing Robin Hood
I always liked Maxwell Smart, because he always got his man by hook or by crook.
Thanks for watching!
Its Guitier or Guiti-air in french pronunciation since you all know english grammer so well 😂
sad video ty for posting it
I do not know where I saw it but some article said that Barbara Feldon has passed away but now I am not sure.
Barbara feldon is alive and well. She is 88 years old. From Ms. Harper Stacey.
Bernie Kopell is my favorite!
Glad you like Bernie Kopell! What other types of videos would you like to see?
Get Smart was a great funny show. I sure wonder what happened to the shoe phones that Don Adams used on the show.
Absolutely, we feel the same way! Thank you for sharing your sentiments and for watching our content. What other types of video would you like to see on Facts Verse?
99; need I say more ! O.K. I was at that age ........
Why did you have pictures of Stacy Keach Jr. aka Mike Hammer?
Barbara Feldon was my favorite actress on Get Smart.
She was the only actress in get Smart.
❤️ 99 very pretty woman
Truth be told, only Barbara Feldon is the only surviving cast member, not Bernie Kopell. Kopell only had a recurring role as Siegfried, and wasn't a regular, so I don't count him as part of the regular cast.
We don't do recurring rolls here at KAOS!
Aside of the main characters, my preferred one is Harry Hoo.
I was a kid in the early 70s. Like a calendar, I would get sick right before Christmas and after New Years. The flu would knock me on my ass. Stuck home from school , no cable TV, just antenna. WPIX New York would always have Get Smart on ,in hour blocks. No matter how sick, I would have the phlegmiest cough, making my ribs sore, all from the jokes, scenes, site gags and more. Even at a young age, I understood the puns, jokes, gags, etc. For example....no mr Smart, not the craw, the CRAW!!! MISSED IT BY THAT MUCH!, would ya believe....., and then Heime the robot who takes everything literally..skip it and he would skip until told to stop. I would recognize guest stars from shows they were currently in such as Ted Knight ( Mary Tyler Moore, Cadyshack), Vic Tayback ( chef from Alice ), Leonard Nimoy as a Kaos agent ( Mr. Spock) , Agent 42 ( Victor French Little House on the Prairie), Bernie Koppel as Ziegfried ( Doc on Love Boat). This I never knew until this year 2022, that Carlson the laboratory scientist was actor Stacy Keach! Larry Storch was the evil groovy guru ( best known as Corporal Agarn in F troop).
Did you notice that when Leonard Nimoy was a KAOS agent he was always wearing sunglasses? I think that the reason for that was because he didn't want anyone to notice his shaved-off eyebrows! I think that he was doing both shows at the same time!
I Like Get Smart Angel 99
max
Agent 99 because she was the smartest
Thanks for watching, Laura!
Prettiest actress pretty skin& dark hair
Showing pictures of Stacy Keach Jr, not Stacy Keach Sr.
Yeah, they screwed up, and refuse to fix it. Tells you a lot about this loser channel.
But Only 99 and Siegfried are still alive still to this day, along with Mel Brooks, Ellen Weston, David Ketchum,

@@FactsVersethere’s is one video I have been pushing for. The Last episode of the Beverly Hillbillies with Sharon Tate and I can give a little background. There was something really disturbing and haunting at various times throughout the episode a ghostly figure was shown at various times throughout the episode then right after the episode the Tate Murders began (with Sharon as the first) and I wonder if there was any actions taken by CBS and the removal of the episode
My favorite was Maxwell Smart secret agent 86, best of all. James Bond could have learned a thing or two from him, like how to use the shoe phone. Sorry about that chief.
Whatever happened to the actor who played Jamie the Robot?
Siegfried was my favorite, sticker.larabee in that order

Laramie because I used to work for him He owned a telemarketing room where I worked
Did anyone else notice that they were showing two different photos, Stacy Keach Sr. And Stacy Keach. I suppose you were attempting to show the relation between the two, yet they are not the same person.
Agent 99 my favorite
Thanks for watching, James!
7:42 is that Leslie Nielsen with Bernie Kopell?
That's Ted Bessell, one of the stars of "That Girl", on which Kopell appeared.
Platt killed himself the day after his development deal that he spent years on with nbc was yanked from him by the new head of the studio. It was green lighted then pulled. Little know fact.
Get Smart series was the best parody of James Bond , much better than Austin Powers and Johnny English.
Well said, we strongly concur! Thank you for watching our content and for sharing your thoughts. What other types of video would you like to see?
Of course Barbara Felton.
