Mr Bean, is an incredibly difficult character to play. It's a testament to Rowan's tremendous ability as an actor..
Growing up in Brazil and watching Mr bean with my friends, we never felt like he was a foreign character. The physical comedy was always universal and we didn't even need dubbing or subtitles to enjoy.
In this video we can see that, when Mr Bean HAS to talk for the bit to work, Rowan can also perform wonderfully. Shows the genius of it.

Mr Bean (Rowan Atkinson) is a comedic genius, in the series he barely says a word. I think if someone can make you laugh without even speaking, that is an unbelievable talent
Perhaps the truth is even more unbelievable and something that has largely been kept secret from the public.
Rowan Atkinson trained at drama college as a classical character actor and was set for a career with the Royal Shakespeare Company.
However, a worsening speech impediment resulted in his rejection.
After months of failure, which only worsened the impediment, he decided to set up his own production company and co-write his own scripts.
Hence Mr Bean was born.
Success then helped reduce the impediment, allowing him to move on to other more serious roles.
The stories of our late queen as a London ambulance driver during the blitz of WW2 are even more unbelievable and heartbreaking. But they turned her into the person who we all loved for almost 100 years.
This was the most I ever heard Mr. Bean speak and I ain't hating it.
