This humor was from a time and place in America when unions, collective bargaining and strikes were so commonplace that you could actually make running jokes about it and a wide audience could relate and laugh. If SNL did this today, no one would “get it”.

Although Maxwell Smart had many villains, Siegfried will always be the funniest archvillain of the show.
