It took me a while because I didn’t question many things, I just went along with what I was being taught (like a dummy). The sister I was studying with (AKA My Handler) was a very kind person but she always reminded me in one way or another that our friendship was conditional. The same with the others in the congregation and I especially remember how they would always come to speak to me before and after the meetings and that first meeting after I got baptized, no one said anything to me.
It took me less than a year to get a backbone and start questioning the nonsense of the cult. I ultimately disassociated myself from the organization and went on to get my Associate and then Bachelors degree so was able to do a lot more for myself.
Whenever I would see one of the fools from my congregation, they would turn their heads as if I wasn’t even there. I remember one, who I was good friends with, shaking her head at me as I was making a deposit at the bank. It hurt and I wanted to cry but I had to shake it off and move on.

Exact experience except I was ds’fd and formally shunned. But you’re right: it was all once I got baptized that the negativity started. I never even got the warning of friendship being conditional. Never heard before baptism about anything that they punish you with. 😢

JWs use the old "bait and switch" strategy. The Bait: They smile and show joy to all newly interested ones. They talk about love, family, hope and drawing close to God. They use lots of slogans ("live forever", "It is the Truth", no part of the world, etc.). The Switch (after you are baptized) "Obey the governing body" "the Governing Body are anointed and special", "You can't hang out with "wordly" people" "you have to work for JEHOVAH (the organization) etc. etc.
They will claim that JWs are morally upright, kind and devoted to God. However, you will quickly find out that many JWs fornicate, watch porn, have affairs etc. In reality, there is no difference between a JW and a devoted Mormon, devoted Seventh Day Adventist, devoted Scientologist, etc.
If JWs were really what they claim to be, people would be standing in the doorway of the Kingdom Hall and begging to come in. Smart people figure out real quick that this is a financial power house and they love to own your soul, money and time. All JWs eventually die while they wait for "everlasting life" and the organization will perform a memorial talking about how great you were because you obeyed the organization and donated all your free time and money to them.

    • @jAITtROtULL

franswevers5039 Yes, and if you get a chance, look at how many commit suicide (particularly those who were shunned). Imagine being 18/25 or even 70 and having grown up in that organization to being shunned by your entire family of witnesses and the "friends" which includes people you've known your entire life and kids you had established close friendships with (more like family really). This is a very close-knit cult and they do everything together inside and outside of the organization since anyone who is not a JW is considered worldly or an apostate and they are not allowed to associate with either. They are only allowed to talk to worldly people when door knocking or studying but can get disfellowshipped if they establish a friendship or relationship with one if they don't discontinue it after being warned by the elders.

    • @jAITtROtULL
      @jAITtROtULL 3 месяца назад

@@christinesotelo7655 Oh Yes!! I disassociated but when anyone does this they are still announced as being
disfellowshipped to the congregation because it is considered a way of denouncing Jehovah. They are only speaking and being friendly to newcomers and people studying because they are told they are supposed to. That's their way of luring you in by making you think they are so loving. Some of those people/couples have dark secrets (including having threesomes with other JW couples) and I won't get into the pedophilia and molestation problem but you can look at the many lawsuits they have.

I knew an elder that got convicted of grand larceny and did 10 or 15 years in prison. He worked for Florida DOT. Always wondered how he could afford his large home on acreage, all on his one salary. His wife never worked and they always had the latest ATV's, wave runners, motorcycles, SUV's and Trucks. When he finally got out my father in law, when we were still speaking, asked " Do you think he'll go back to the hall?" I said " would you want someone like that back??" I never understood the whole "they're one of us so they're to be automatically trusted" culture. I also never found out who he embezzled the money from. I moved far away from all of it by the time I found out about the conviction.

At 2:40 "social death penalty" is the best way to describe shunning. Prisons call it solitary and to some it is the worst form of punishment with the trauma continuing even after the solitary ends. Likewise even JWs who return from being df'ed/shunned never fully recover from it as it leaves a lasting scar. Let's go, Wally. You keep rolling out these bangers.

One the lawn mower topic, I think its to cover their ass from lawsuits. When I was a JW, I remember that we did the Kingdom Hall landscaping for free . Every month or so it would be our book study groups turn to do it. Some people dont have spacial awareness and I remember people getting injured from a piece of tree branch flying and hitting someone else and all kinds of accidents would happen. I could imagine some one getting seriously injured and then sueing.

12:15 I'm 34 years old. Born and raised in Chicago. Never once have I mowed a lawn in my life. I think it has more to do with the kind of environment you lived in. And if you are buyer/renter. People, like myself, who have lived in large metropolitan areas never had the need to learn how to mow a lawn. And now that we are becoming a society of renters, it will soon be a less common skill.

Also, in the southwest US it's rapidly becoming too expensive, immoral, and occasionally illegal to grow a lawn even if you do own a home.
I could definitely see even a well adjusted adult from the area not knowing how to use a lawnmower properly.

Just because a young man is of an appropriate age, it shouldn't be assumed that he knows the necessary cautions.

I think the safety training for lawn mowing is actually a smart idea. Many people grow up without yards or have a service or another family member mows, etc so not assuming everyone knows the proper and safe way is best in my opinion.
But the forms sound more like a liability thing for the Watchtower more than actually training someone...

A not very well known fact is there is a subculture of very rich JW’s. I live near the US Branch and Bethelites fall over themselves to curry the favor of the super rich. Of course, the only people the truly wealthy are interested in are those who have actual influence in the organization. GB, GB Helpers, Branch Committee, Service Department (and their wives) are lavished with extravagant gifts (cars, homes, vacations, luxury restaurants, etc.) in exchange for prominence, access and protection. One wealthy JW who was personal friends with Losch was banging his cocktail waitress for 2 years with no action taken. I’ve known wealthy witnesses who ran fraudulent corporations involving just other JW’s who were essentially untouchable because of connections (remember you can’t take your brother to court). The amount of greed, graft and corruption in this organization is staggering.

I totally agree! The last KH I attended was a snake’s den of twisted people. Grand theft larceny, wife swapping, crooked business deals. It was mind boggling how the perpetrators got away with it! Many concerned and troubled people in that hall complained to Watchtower HQ who finally sent a rep out to investigate. Guess who he investigated!? The complainers. Can’t make this crap up!
A JW woman I’ve known for years was once a member of that hall and finally admitted to me that she was one of the complainers the Bethel rep spoke to. Nothing was ever done about the elder who allowed all the criminality and she was told she had to just let it all go. Her complaint? The elder allowed his own daughter to shack up with my friend’s disfellowshipped husband in the basement suite of the elder’s own home! My friend was trying to get proof of adultery so she could divorce him and the elder refused to divulge what he knew! Like I said, you can’t make this crap up!

About knowing how to use a lawnmower….I know how to use a lawnmower because l’ve for most of my life lived in Miami where I own a house and I “mow” my own back and front “yards” and before that I did it at the house I rented and I would “mow the grass” at my parent’s house before that. Besides, I’ve always loved mechanical things, specially and specifically cars, I graduated from an Automotive Trades HS in Brooklyn, NY so, I always knew how to “start and use a lawn mower” ….even before I ever did use a lawnmower I knew how to use and how 13:45 a simple mechanical device like that works and how to use it, safely. However, if you grew up in, NYC, Boston, Detroit, Chicago….or Madrid, Paris, London, Rome…. at an apartment building or condo where there is not a “yard” or grass area that you are responsible for mowing, and you are not a mechanically gifted person, or maybe you had a yard but you could afford to pay someone else to do it, it is entirely possible that you don’t know how to use lawnmower and you haven’t an idea about how a lawnmower works. That being said, it is a fairly simple piece of gear or equipment that can be learned to, not only use but also repair fairly quickly. So I get what you meant.
Great video as usual Wally. You are one of….
… maybe “The”…….Goats of ex JW activism. You’re certainly NOT one of the sheep. Pun intended.
BTW….I’m sure Watchtower is more wooried (“more worried”…is that proper English?….so sorry but Shakespeare’s language is not my native tongue) Watchtower is not so worried about you taking off your toes or fingers while mowing the grass at the KH….they just can’t afford to pay more lawsuit since they are always having to pay child sexual abuse case settlements.

Allegedly had tough luck back in New York, moved hall to hall asking for "help," for the same "tragedy," everywhere they went, milking people for all they could offer. “People who believe false things can’t be around honest people. If you believe things that are false, you can’t have freethinking people who are skeptical and curious and who care about you enough to tell you the truth and free you from the foggy, narcissistic death grip of error and falsehood and delusion. Who is content to let you live in a delusion?? …..People who share those delusions and who don’t care about you.
Delusion, fantasy, falsehoods and propaganda are solitary confinement. The reason propaganda is so dangerous is because it isolates people. And through isolation people go crazy. If you are isolated and you know it you experience a peculiar type of agony that will motivate you to do whatever it takes to get contact with people. If you are isolated and you don’t know it because you’re only surrounded by people who share your same delusions (cults) …..you are isolated because the only thing you have in common with the people around you is shared delusion. Collective madness is not emotional intimacy.
The isolation that separates us from each other when we get wrapped in falsehoods is the worst thing of all because it is without obvious symptom…. Yes, you become unstable, defensive, inoculated against any truth teller and will attack anybody that tells the truth in your environment, but you can’t love, you can’t be loved, you can’t relax. You are always on guard for whatever might puncture your delusions which provokes rage which drives good people away and anybody might rescue you from delusion will be driven away and you are left alone in the foggy devil ribbed cage bosom of falsehood…
That which is not real, that which is not true, that which is not proven, that which is the opposite of truth. You are full of peculiar hatreds, instability, vanity… because anybody who just repeats lies and only listens to lies is vain because they won’t submit themselves to reason and evidence. So, the vanity, the narcissism, the isolation the peculiar hatreds…. to be falling without even knowing that you’re falling, to be ill with no symptoms….. is the most dangerous thing of all. And to be lonely in a crowd of thousands of people cheering all the same falsehoods, to be certain, pompous, to be vain, to be full of rage at anybody who threatens these delusions…. to be told that the pursuit of truth is the acceptance of evil… to be isolated and thereby easily manipulated.
People who pursue delusion and end up wrapped in delusion are saying… I can’t be loved, all I can do is pretend to merge. I can’t be loved for who I am so I will hide in a room full of photocopied people with photocopied opinions and pretend that I’m part of something. I will dissolve my individuality, I will shred and eviscerate any original thought I might possibly have, any curiosity, any skepticism I might possibly have so that I can dissolve into the nothing of the photocopies around me. I can’t have love, but I can self abase and self erase into proximity. I can nod, smile, agree, and praise who everyone praises and hate who everyone hates… I can be a shadow cast by the tombstone of my mind. I can’t exist, I can’t excite, I can’t be unique, but I can blend. I can submit I can conform and then I will have physical proximity combined with unbelievable isolation. I can’t approach the truth so I will just burrow into empty people.
We can only ever meet in reality itself. We cannot meet in fantasy we cannot meet in lies we cannot meet in propaganda. We can only meet in the truth. When you are with the truth, you can do without people because you are with yourself and with the facts and reality. When you don’t have the truth you have a bottomless desperate need for people that you could never connect with. If all you have in common with others, with those around you is a mutual agreement to slash your mind into ribbons and accept whatever lies come rolling down the conveyor belt, you’re not with anyone, and you will never feel loved. The price of conformity is the absence of love. The price of conformity is terror of solitude.
Truth tellers can handle the journey from the town of the dead to the outposts of the living and the thinking. It’s a long journey across that desert. The ghosts can’t make it. You can’t love a character in a video game because they are programmed. You can’t love people who don’t think for themselves because there is no one to love, thought is the only individuating characteristic that we have. The only thing that we have that is uniquely our own is our capacity to think for ourselves, and that is the only passageway through which the light of love can reach. They suffer in the worst possible way which is to not even know what they are missing… Avoid it if you can at all possible costs.”

*they've not been manipulated into thinking it's "none of our business" - so the JW church is complicit in selling that idea.

I had all this rolling around in my head, so I decided to put it in a poem
You said your Governing Body were the only ones who speak with God
But now your teachings have been changed
Don't you find that kind of odd?
You teach your people the Governing body to the heaven they will rise
But when they're asked in court all they did was lie
You say Jah will Know his people by their Earthly Fruits
Do you really think that is you because you wear a fancy suit?
You get mad when when we decide to walk away
But do you really listen to the things you say?
You taught that that time would never pass away
But the people of that time have left us anyway
You stand up and tell us you are speaking about Jah.But all we really hear is Just Bla Bla Bla
You say all you want is for us to come back
But that will take a whole lot more than allowing beards and Slacks
You said we need to trust in you so God would Help your people
But when we came to ask for help you sent me to a steeple
You say your people are only taught the truth
And for our children to be saved they must be Baptized in their youth
When the children came to you about abusive men
You told them not to go get help because that would be a sin
How can you preach you are God's earthly organization
When all you really care about is your reputation?
You call us Apostates for Questioning our Different views
But every single one of your sins are in the National News?
And now because the world now know about your every sin
Hopefully soon they will shut you down so we can have our family back again.

I think there are two things that make JWs cultish: Shunning and Changing doctrine on the fly... as if God rewrites the Bible every day or something.
Beside that, they are just another universalist Christian religion, but these cultish attitudes is what damage people the most, and ironically scare people away from the religion too.
JWs are strict, but there are other religions as strict that don't encourage to treat former members as trash. It is quite sad that JWs are so eager to change doctrine and rules on the fly about beliefs and the Bible, yet they stick to the most damaging aspect of their own faith.

You got me thinking and now analyzing what makes any cult and here is my take. It takes narcissism to start a cult rolling, and it gains momentum when one man is presumed to be som much more wiser or charismatic than the others, but it isnt the admiration of him that empowers the ult, it is his level of narcissism winning and over-powering the other narcissists to make him the greater. In narcissism either other narcissist leave (which man exJWs and exMormons are mere competing narcissists) or they are humbled forcefully demeaned by the greater narcissist until he is in power and leads. Now most of YOU peopleseem to think the GB itself has become a narcissistic entity (like BIdan admin or Trum admin) are two beasts of separate but whole entities devouring their path. When the identity is a beast, you can chop its head off because someone else will rise to be the head.

So, Jehovah can supposedly protect every JW through Armageddon, but he can't do the same for some poor JW who drew the short straw and has to mow the KH lawn?

You’re knit picking with the lawn mower. It’s safety and liability. I have to sign forms to let my kid play in a jungle gym. Can you imagine your episode if someone DID get hurt.? Damned if they go damned if they don’t. Your Lawn mower spiel was childish
