    At the start of the pandemic, I was still PIMO, and the food/supplies that the congregation distributed were given to the congregation by the government (not the Governing Body) with instructions that it be distributed to any needy persons; assuming that tax-exempt churches are charities that offer aid to the community at large. But the Branch instructions were to distribute it only to Witness families in need *and in good standing with the congregation*. Even though it was not provided by any part of the Watchtower organization. At this point, I was already wide awake to the reality of the religion, but this really reinforced my determination to step away.

    Yeah….Watchtower spent $12Million “fixing their own bleep”. I remember when my family came to the US from Communist Cuba, running away from political and anti religious persecution. I remember when we first got to this country and basically had just the clothes on our backs….no money and no jobs waiting for my parents to get me our family moving forward and….surviving…we got no financial help at all from Watchtower. Yes, members of our extended family who were already “established” in this country did help us, a lot. And yes, some of them were JWs. But the Organization, the local congregation where we ended up in NYC, did not really help us. However, I remember that a local Catholic organization offered to help us financially to “get started” in the US. When my mother told the Church rep that we couldn’t accept their help because we were not Catholic, that we were JWs, the Catholic Church rep said that their help did not depend on our religious orientation, that we could be atheist even and that this Catholic organization would still help us. And they did help us financially. I don’t think my parents ever told that story to the elders in the congregation we ended up attending. Can you imagine Watchtower helping anyone who is not a JW in good standing and….even so….can you imagine Watchtower helping anyone who is not a JW in good standing if, they are not getting something out of it like, more loyal followers and some sort of free publicity!?
    Good video….thanks Wally. You are loved my brother. Take care.

      Hello Vusi, those sent by Jesus Christ have a wonderful testimony of how they have been brought back to life by the baptism of God's Holy Spirit by believing in the only name that has been revealed to mankind from heaven. (Acts 4:12; Titus 3:4-7) Followers of Christ acknowledge their sinful reality and fully accept God's perfect sacrifice made through Lord Jesus. They are freed from sin through the Son of God, dying to sin and becoming alive to God's righteousness. (Romans 3:1-31; Romans 6:5-7,12-14,22-23) And justification is not by our works, lest we boast in ourselves, but only by believing in the works of Christ, His death, which testifies to us being in sin, and His resurrection that reveals His Power and Authority over all things and can justify and reconcile us to God the Father. (John 6:28,29; Romans 4:25) There is only one true gospel by which man can be saved. If you receive or preach a different gospel, it is not something to be proud of, but something to be ashamed of. Apostle Paul said that he who preaches another gospel is cursed. (Galatians 1:6-10)
      Therefore let me remind you of the Gospel by which you can be saved, that Christ died for our sins according to the Scriptures, and that He was buried, and that He rose again the third day according to the Scriptures, and that He was seen by Cephas, then by the twelve. After that He was seen by over five hundred brethren at once. And if Christ is not risen, then our preaching is empty and your faith is also empty. And if Christ is not risen, your faith is futile; you are still in your sins! For the wages of sin is death, therefore I said to you that you will die in your sins; for if you do not believe that I am He, you will die in your sins. If you abide in My word, you are My disciples indeed. And you shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free. Most assuredly, I say to you, whoever commits sin is a slave of sin. Therefore if the Son makes you free, you shall be free indeed. He who sins is of the devil, for the devil has sinned from the beginning. For this purpose the Son of God was manifested, that He might destroy the works of the devil. Whoever has been born of God does not sin, for His seed remains in him; and he cannot sin, because he has been born of God. But now having been set free from sin, and having become slaves of God, you have your fruit to holiness, and the end, everlasting life. If we confess our sins, He is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness. The blood of Jesus Christ His Son cleanses us from all sin. (1 Corinthians 15:3-6,14,17; Romans 6:23; John 8:24,31-32,34-36; 1John 3:8,9; Romans 6:22; 1 John 1:7,9)
      Repent, and let every one of you be baptized in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of sins; and you shall receive the gift of the Holy Spirit. (Acts 2:38)
      I ask you to bow before God and allow him to reveal his perfect Will to you. Read the scriptures with an open mind and do not be carried away by the ideas of man, but let the Word of God speak to you through his Spirit, ask and it will be given.
      Do you remember what Jesus said? He said that he who is of God hears the words of God, and He spoke the words of God because He is the Word of God. Therefore, after the ascension of Christ, He promises the spirit of truth to those who believe in Him, and said He will take what is Mine and declare it to you. To hear the voice of the Good Shepherd, we must open our ears to the Holy Spirit to receive the Word of Christ. If you accept the Son, you also accept the Father.

    Never JW here, not a Christian either. But when I was young, despite not being a Christian, I could rely on Catholic Charities to help pay my hospital bill when I had no insurance. A friend of mine was homeless and (not Christian), but the local church let him stay in their basement and gave him odd jobs. Another friend (again not Christian) brought her mentally ill sister to a Christian run rehab and they took her in for free. Our local church holds food drives and free meals and they don't check your religious credentials at the door. Our local kingdom hall, however, does nothing... NOTHING, for our community, including refusing to open their hall when we had massive flooding and displaced people. They should have their charity status revoked. They are no charity.

    When I was a child it was an important part of my understanding that there was no forced contribution. The boxes were there and people put in when and if they could and no one said a thing. It wasn't something you heard often in talks. It was something I would actually "brag" about as a child when talking to kids at school that we didn't pass around a plate at the end of the service to pay for the preacher. Then sometime when I was either a pre-teen, or early teen we had a new Circuit Overseer, and nearly every one of his talks that week were about the need to contribute. It was as if he was increasing pressure on everyone to put more in the contribution box. Although I was still young, I remember that distinctly as my first inkling that something was wrong. It didn't seem right as this was not what we were taught before. Even now in my 50's I remember this feeling distinctly. I can't say this was what started me on the path that eventually led me out of the congregation, but it certainly added to it.
    I later learned from through my wife, that while the Catholic church (at least here in Germany) does have a tithing and does pass around a plate that these things go for ensuring that there are kindergarten spaces for the children (Kindergarten here is not the same as it is in the US), and they announce what charity will receive what was collected after the services.

    • @outtadarkness1970
      @outtadarkness1970 Год назад

      In the US you were constantly reminded that, unlike the chuches of "false religion", JW's did not pass the plate or expect a tithe, BUT every month they gave an accounts report that was timed to make it appear the congregation didn't have enough money to pay their bills. Which, of course, was a back-handed way of pressuring members to donate more money. Now, they don't even bother with subtle coercion, they just come right out and pressure everyone in the religion to donate more and more.

    I don't know how the food distribution was handled in other areas, but in the Greater Houston, Texas area, the GOVERNMENT provided food boxes that the JW's "distributed to communities" were ONLY distributed to those "in good standing" within the JW congregations regardless of need. Oh, and the flyer crediting the US government and US farmers for these boxes of food were removed in the vast majority of cases! In contrast, I know that area churches in the Greater Cincinnati, Ohio area, distributed those boxes, WITH the flyers, to ANYONE who needed them! In some cases they delivered them to people's doorsteps. So, in summary, WT took credit for the food boxes they did distribute, gave them ONLY to JW families, and then ONLY to those judged to be "in good standing" whether they needed them or not! On the other hand, OTHER churches did NOT take credit for the boxes and distributed them to people in their communities who actually needed them regardless of their religious affiliation!

      @thomash.schwed3662 Год назад

      The Society is Lucy Van Pelt with the football and the rank-and-file are Charlie Brown running to kick it only for the Society to pull it away at the last second. We've seen it with the date-setting for Armageddon and we're seeing it with regard to the contributions.
      There is a tendency to laugh when Sophia puts her ice cream money in the contribution box, but that laughter is tempered by the knowledge that this is exactly the type of thing the Society demands of Jehovah's witnesses. That last sound bite with the Bethelite is proof conclusive thereof. Yes, even those in Bethel service, who technically receive only a small monthly allowance, are required to make economic contributions to the Society.
      Just like Charlie Brown with the football, Jehovah's witnesses land on their backs for the Society. The only difference is that this is real life, not a comic strip. When Jehovah's witnesses land on their backs for the Society, the pain and the hurt are genuine and do not disappear in the next panel.

    Are not the elderly widows or single parent all of good standing? Oh excuse me no they are not related to an elder or cong overseer so you could be a lying toe rag of an elder but because of your relatives higher up all things are squashed. They do not distribute food or supplies to the wider community. Ordinary publishers are passed over even if they are starving and struggling to walk to the meetings they are not offered a lift. Associated with at meetings etc. So it is only the elders family who get and the rest can starve etc., 😡😡
    For example during these troubled times of Uktaine they stood at airports and had a sign that indicated JWs this way. But if you did not have an elder for a husband you were not offered a house etc. etc. You were probably refered to the social services. Although they advertised All JWs they asked their status in their Ukraine KH before segregating you. 😡 There is a footage showing exactly this happening.

    According to Klaus's figures regarding the food relief, each recipient recieved 15 kilograms (33 pounds) of food over 4 months. This works out to 3.75kg (8.26 pounds) of food per month per person. If this was in a staple such as rice or flour, it would be enough to fill some's stomach each day. If it contained liquids (in the form of canned goods) or fresh produce such as vegetables and fruit, then it would be signifigantly less

    My parents are JW. They are 78 & 80yo. Every visit to them usually results in a conversation in which they try to get me to join. I have recently asked if they had a will or any legal direction for their end of life plans. The only thing I got was my father wants most if not all his money to go to the WT organization. I don’t argue it with him, it’s his money he worked for it it’s his to choose what he does with it. My only issue is, I look at him and wonder how such a smart man was manipulated into this mind controlling organization. He claims he researched it deeply before joining back around 1969 ish. Can’t change his mind now. 😢

She wouldn't dare leave now, she gets all the attention, food, gift cards, cash cuz she cries poverty. I don't know who is more manipulative, the GB or my mother!!!

    The only thing I see the JWs doing is standing by their carts trying to recruit people in their cult.

I saw this during my Visit from Germany to my family Members. They dont want to know how poor u are, your Donation is important like the Widow in the Bible. I am happy that I left the Organisation with my family members here in Germany after 37years in Dec 2019 and today at the Age of 79, I am seeing more Happiness in the Family than the Time we associated with JW

    First off we recognize 2 Congos. Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC) then the Congo. Over 200,000 publishers in DRC, less than 10,000 in Congo. I doubt 12milliom was spent on less than 10,000 publishers in Congo, as it is not a place you want to be distributing food boxes! One would not live to complete the distributing! But in the DRC conditions are better, unless you find yourself in the Northern part of the DRC. There are a number of Christian Organisations backed by developed countries like the US, UK, EU, who have been distributing more than just food boxes, such as education, clean water, bridges and roads, schools, women's health which includes help for rape victims, abuse against women, since the 70's! Of which Jehovah's Witnesses are not a part of. Mostly Jehovah's Witnesses just help if your a baptised Jehovah's Witness. So the 12million was Mostly distributed in the DRC, not the Congo. You certainly will not see Governing Body Members visiting the Congo to encourage Congregations there anytime soon.

      @@Mimi-uv2nh I live in West Africa. Born and raised in Brookings Harbor Oregon. We have many refugees from Central Africa, Congo, DRC. When my wife and I were preaching door to door I would buy Plantains for their children to eat. Mostly most JW'S do not do that, but I could never just walk away knowing they are hungry. My wife and I still hire them to help on our farm or whatever we need done. We are kicked to the garbage can according to one Elder as he raised his foot and shook it at us saying I kick you to the dust bin!
