They said that the 144,000 were complete in 1935... in 2007, they said "well, we don't really know".
If GB think they're one of the anointed, they'd be aware of the exact number already anointed right down to the very last one. They should even know them all by name, as they're supposed to be a class of their own.

Exactly, I have highlighted this multiple times on-line. He wanted to say it in the passive voice to distance themselves from such a horrible policy, but he messed up and then caught himself. This shows that they are very uncomfortable with having to say this! They know that it is very hypocritical.

As an EXJW myself, who has experienced the cult from the inside, I’m also convinced they are a narcissistic group.
It's so narcissistic that it causes genuinely nice people inside the cult to become narcissists themselves. You have no idea how much I was personally gaslighted and initially shunned by the members when I started going into the cult out of desperation and depression.
Narcissist = the most overused word! Lots of us are former witnesses and NOT narcissists! However, the GB could be categorized that way!
Those who have left the religion tend to deconstruct their narcissistic traits, which is very good. Although, the bad influence of the Governing Body does impact their members and ending up inheriting their traits because they project it onto the dogma of their religion and the direction they force their members to submit to.
For example, they're told not to listen to "apostates" when referring to logical rebuttals coming from rational people in the internet and whomever who doesn't agree with them. This is a reflection of the Governing Body's narcissistic behavior by refusing to accept constructive criticism and personal responsibility. JWs who adhere to this direction imitate this irresponsible behavior, and if it becomes an ingrained pattern of habits, it affects their personality, putting them in danger to become narcissistic themselves about this very matter because they'll judge whomever disobeys this unhealthy direction within their congregations. And this is just one example.
Ofc, those who learn the actual lesson and stop imitating the Governing Body and become individuals themselves by learning how to critically question things, they stop becoming narcissistic in this way.
@@kathryna6370 It's okay man. They're not talking about those who have left the religion. But the members do inherit the GBs' irreprehensible behavior the moment they obey their direction, and that's how they adopt these bad traits from them. JWs are not even encouraged to stand out and think differently contrary to the GB anyways, so if the GB is acting narcissistically, loyal members will end up following suit and become like them.
As a witness I was excruciatingly poor. I didn’t have money to buy good boots, and thick dresses and good coat, and I can’t tell you how frozen I was in the winter going out without trousers. It was discrimination. I mean just because you wear trousers does n’t mean you look like a man, how insulting. Now I’m df’ed, they blinkin’ change the rules, aaaaaaah.!

“The Governing Body has decided that sisters may wear pants”. So embarrassing. Wouldn’t it be more dignified for a “sister” to announce: “I have decided to wear pants!” Or, not announce at all. Just DO IT. 😮

In a more general sense, while we're on the topic of "Merrie Melodies"/"Looney Tunes" cartoons, it certainly appears as though the Society is "Rabbit Season-Duck Seasoning" itself. The only difference is that instead of Bugs Bunny and Daffy Duck arguing with each other, the Society is arguing with itself-with the same result which Daffy Duck experienced.

I just saw Jehovah Witnesses at my mall. I asked them why they don't let their children participate in activites such as holiday parties with their classmates and birthdays. Instead of answering the question. They just said that the mall won't let them answer that but if you go to our website. It'll answer your question.

Ralph Walls gave a talk about apologizing and actually highlighted how the Apostle Paul was quick to apologize in Acts 23, which made me think.
So, the GB says they’re the modern day equivalent of the governing body of the 1st century of which they also say Paul was part of. Then they go and have a part on apologizing using the example of Paul.
So that begs to question; if Paul was quick to apologize and he was on the same governing body they say they’re on, then why don’t they apologize for being wrong like he did?

These people are the type of people that would expose someone on TikTok for not agreeing with them that taking an airplane to the top floor of a building is the best thing to do since the elevators are down.
My personal favorite is from the WT 1974 11/15 pgs 703-704 which stated that a scriptural divorce could be obtained due to anal or oral sex WITHIN marriage. That lasted until the WT 1983 3/15 p31, which reverted back to the definition of adultery that held sway for several thousand years. The footnote stated "Those who acted on the basis of the knowledge they had at that time are not to be criticized." So for almost 10 years the GB actually was a party to many witness couples getting an UNSCRIPTURAL divorce, and those who remarried based on what that 1974 WT said committed adultery.
Once I left a half cup of oj in my brother's Volvo, and it almost ruined his car permanently lololol 😅😂

The Kingdom Hall I was made to attend had the Tetragrammaton backlit above the platform (in the 1970s).
As a girl who deeply disliked the clothes I was made to wear at home and at the Hall, I can only applaud that the skirt/stockings/petticoat combo can be set aside for something less uncomfortable and demeaning. It may not seem much to guys, but this is a revolutionary act that may make women feel more assertive and less vulnerable to male predations.

We never had new people, the leaders had to know everything about you and everyone had to have the same answers.
No individuality allowed.
Parents don't even have say over their kids, people have no say over themselves.

I don't see these changes as a big deal because I didn't grow up as a JW. That said, I won't be surprised if this will cause a schism down the road.

I remember when they use to post it on the bulletin board how many hours each publisher was out in the ministry. A family member would rush to see how much time his peers had accumulated! So silly. It encouraged a sprit of competition, they did away with posting.
I am convinced that the 'other sheep' (or 'Jonadabs' they used to call them) doctrine was invented because they realised fairly early on that they were running out of space...

Just this morning jw came to my house, my younger sister was outside and they kept asking for where my dad was/worked my mother couldn’t open the door due to my dog and they kept attempting to come in lol (for Context my family left jw last year)
