As a boy I was so goddamn afraid of the doomsday I was freaking out about leaving my home, toys, I was afraid that my parents would be killed, I would be tortured. I was imagining what tortures I could survive to stay loyal. They should take responsibility for what they have done to people. I'm 42 right now spent 36 years in this cult, baptized in 2000 they have ruined my life and the person I should have become. Lunatics. What hurts the most is also the fact that personal choices I based on their doctrine including love matters (one I rejected, she was worldly) and the other died because she refused blood.
For me its the same. I am 51 and left them mentally before 3 month. I they trow me out before 4 years. Every year i was try again to get back to them. They destroy my life too. 50 years!!

Yes, same with me, I was a nervous wreck as a child, imagining all the terrible things that could happen. I was afraid to go to school, afraid the doom would start before I could get back home, and my parents would be taken away to jail or killed. My mind dwelt on all the possible scenarios that could happen and would happen.
I remember the horrible pictures they put in literature of kids and their dogs falling in an earthquake opening with horrified looks on their faces. I spent 60 years in it. I was terrified of worldly people, terrified of God, terrified of the elders. Left 5 years ago, found Christ, and peace, and love, and truth. The Truth is Jesus, not the JW organization.
An end is comming yes.

Watchtower’s GB has nothing else to offer the rank and file witnesses! They shit the bed when they hyped up the date of the end of the world in 1975 then made their followers believe it wasn’t them who caused the problems! In 1980 statements were made in the column “Questions from the Readers” that put the blame for this disgusting disaster on ‘some who wanted the world to end so badly they invented fantasies and stories about it’.
This hoax started in Watchtower’s own literature from 1964 onward. Talks at big assemblies were given telling everyone the world was going to end in the fall of 1975 and Watchtower knew this because their Bible knowledge supported their predictions. JWs worldwide were assured they could absolutely believe the end was just a few months away!
There are witnesses, who to this day, firmly believe Watchtower never predicted such a thing!
I stayed alive till 75. Oh wait, I wasn’t around then. Oh well

Ex-JW convert to Catholicism (I love it and couldn’t be happier btw, and yes I did my research early church history the Didache lol) I love that our church has schools food banks opportunities for me to volunteer 24-7 if I want to, we have hospitals hospice child care adoption foster…clothing financial assistance you name it.

Welcome and peace be with you 🙏 I know JWs hate the Catholic Church, when I was doing bible studies with JWs I went to the Kingdom Hall and I was annoyed by the comments against Catholicism. I was baptised Catholic and I lost faith until Bible studies, but I couldn't help but feel JWs are preaching lies, I realised the value in my faith and since the JW bible studies I am going to spend my life trying to seek Jesus and follow his example. Despite all the bad press about Catholics I have met some really inspirational people and I have never met a bad priest 😊
I grew up Catholic in the 50’s scared out of my wits by hell. Then JW scared me worse than that. I am thinking of returning to Catholicism if I can have my freedom of thought. If they force he’ll on me I won’t. But if I find Peace and can partake of communion, I’d like to return. Two of my children said they’d join me. But it all depends on the fear factor. I think they’ve changed since the 50’s? And regular churches don’t do anything for me because of all the false gospels. I seek Jesus. Period. Not prosperity. Not deliverance and demons and all that. Not false prophecies about politics and weather. Jesus.
Agree 100%. I left JW org and my family shunned me (40+ yrs now) and didn’t even care why I left. And who took me in - made sure I had a meal every day - took care of my dog while I went to College - who did that? A Catholic family!

As a Catholic I had a young JW visit me and I asked him why JW's don't have charities, orphanages, hospitals, and organized efforts for corporal works of mercy. Apparently that bothered him when he thought about it. He left to become Catholic and joined me some time after at a Catholic Mass. It's fascinating to me how many JW's want to work and do organized charitable work to help people but are told they can't. That's crazy to me.

I am confused about the 2024 assemblies. It seems that the bulk of the material is prerecorded material. Do they do the convention as an on-line session, or do they force the friends to travel so they can sit in a auditorium and watch videos? It makes no sense.

From what I see among the various religions, Jehovah's Witnesses are the only ones that use the Bible to answer our questions. They're the only ones I've found, as a group, that are doing their best to act like real Christians should act like. Kudos to anyone who follows in the footsteps' of Jesus Christ.

The children cried at some of these in-depth descriptions of torture of Malawi JWs. Then 1975 was supposed to happen. It was an awful time. We really believed it would be us next. Horrible. I took the children out of those “adult” talks and then get scolded by Elders and my husband to get back in the KH., this was all pertinent information. I can’t describe how frightening and depressing a time it was, Wally. There are no words to describe it.

As a kid, I believed in the apocalypse. I just thought it would happen long after I'm gone. Now days, I think if it were to happen, I would want to be in the first round out so I would be gone before I could even realize what's happening. I view eternal life as more of a punishment than a reward.
I visited Brookly, from the UK, last week. The WATCHTOWER sign has been removed. The sign now states 'WELCOME' on the old JW real estate.

In the Kingdom of God, the office of King is held by the Son. Our Father is not King, never claimed to be King, but ALWAYS exalts His Son as King...
But to the Son He says:

Now, your mom will say these verses are about "Jehovah,"...so you say, "Who is King right now.?"
Well, according to Watchtower, Jesus is King right now, so these verses ARE NOT about "Jehovah."
Watchtower teaches this...
First "Jehovah" is king, then he tosses the crown to Jesus, and then He is King...then He shoots the crown BACK to "Jehovah," who is then "king" again...yikes!!
Tell your mother that in the Kingdom of God, there is no such chaos and confusion.
While "father and son" of Watchtower are engaged in their daily round of "Snatch the Crown," and trying to figure out who is king today, there is no confusion in the Kingdom of God; Christ the LORD is King. Always.

2. Should I pretend to know that the 1st Law of Thermodynamics is wrong, that everything that exists was created out of nothing by a supernatural force, a God, that exists outside of time and space?
3. Should I pretend to know that I have a special intimate personal relationship with the supernatural realm that telepathically endows me with knowledge of unknowable truths, to tap into the mind of God, to know what it thinks and wants?
4. Should I pretend to know that when our ancient ancestors created their religions and wrote their holy books, they did not include in them any imaginary narratives, things that they were pretending to know but in reality, they could not possibly know?
If you’re a jw, or to be fair, ANY religion or cult, then yes is the answer to all these rhetorical questions 😂…

These are precisely the questions Jehovah's witnesses and subscribers to all other religions would do well to ask themselves. Of course, for many of them, if they did ask themselves these questions, they would experience such pangs of cognitive dissonance that they would be afraid of the correct answers.

Common sense tells us that pretending to possess unknowable knowledge doesn't give us access to unknowable knowledge. What it does give us is whatever version of BS we care to imagine is truth. This is insane...I met a JW at a concert. He was flirty and got my number. We talked for a while and went on some dates...something felt off and I asked a few times what his religion was and he just ignored the question or changed the subject. Then he randomly told me after 2 months...I'm like...what the heck? I asked how serious he was about it...he gave a sharp answer implying he's very serious 😭 I've been doing a deep dive and I just can't believe this! I'm a Christian and believe in the trinity. Their religion is so obviously false! I have this fire inside to minister to these people

Ya I've been hearing about that my whole life. I was in this cult for 36 years and I was so involved in raising my kids that I really didn't listen to what they had to say. I think back when I was a JW I don't even remember what they were trying to teach me because I didn't believe any of it.

I've been an Atheist for about 35 years, i.e. most of my adult life, I have never been a JW, and I agree that their afterlife sound horrible. Back when I believed in the supernatural I hoped that I'd be able to explore the universe after the death of my body, no spaceship or spacesuit required when you're a body less soul, the speed of light limit might not even apply if a soul has no mass. I also thought of the universe as infinite back then so there would always be new experiences. Being confined to a physical body on Earth for eternity sound like hell to me. If the impossible happen and the JW are right, I do prefer annihilation to their version of Paradise.

The WT are showing all the Watchtower Witnesses who were "persecuted" for their preaching work, but they show no consideration for all those people who were on the receiving side of those Watchtower lies that were preached! The Watchtower is an organisation who loves to call itself 'the truth', but gives the people on the outside of the org. the impression of being the boy who cried wolf. The wolf and the end will come, but by then, nobody believes the boy or the Watchtower.
Think about how the Watchtower Witnesses preached that they expected or at least insinuated that the end of the world would arrive by 1878..1881.. 1914..1918.. 1925... (Even in 1932, Watchtower president Rutherford declared that the preaching work of the Witnesses was "coming to a conclusion", that Armageddon was "only a short time away" and that the end was "much less than the length of a generation"), and again in 1975.. but the end of the world didn't manifest in any of those years.
Then again, in 1989, the people that the Witnesses preached to were given the January '89 Watchtower, where they claimed that there were only a few years left before the end of this evil system of things, and that we would enter paradise on earth before we would enter the new millennium in 2000. It has been OVER 3 DECADES, so clearly not just a few years. Clearly they didn't mean a spiritual but a physical paradise on earth, or they would have written a spiritual paradise in the 1989 magazine!
Imagine being a worldly person (or their children and grandchildren) who had Watchtower Witnesses on their doorstep, preaching these modified end of the World predictions on all these occasions, for 150 years. The ones being preached to are getting several decades older and have a style change every time, and eventually it is their grand kids opening the door asking the Witnesses that since nothing happened with their previous prediction, what makes them think that they are correct this time.. and then having the ''modified explanation'' from the current witness on the doorstep. It would have made a good, but tragicomic skit..
Good comment. Also, look at all the murder (my opinion) of children and adults who needed Blood transfusions but had to deny them out of fear of displeasing what turned out to be the Org doctrine. Look at the high suicide rate of JWs disfellowshipped and thrown out of their homes and families. Alcoholism and nervous breakdowns without being able to ask for help. CSA and pedophile protection. Estates and trusts and homes and little bank accounts talked out of the widowed or dying elderly. Child abuse. No one credentialed or professional to ask questions of or to talk over doubts with. On and on.
Paradise after thousands of years of regrowing trees to get the lumber to rebuild shelters, et al...now. Where do the clothes come from? That lady’s pretty earrings? What if you don’t LIKE someone or don’t WANT to sit at a picnic table of fruit? What if you want to live alone instead of a community? Do women have PMS? Will men have mid-life crisis? Will there be Sportscars? Car dealerships? Currency? Where did the lady get her hairband? Who makes the shoes? Where do they get leather from? Wally, I don’t WANNA go there! I don’t like all people! If there's children, will they eventually grow up or be stuck at their ages? If it's the latter, are there forever-babys/ -pregnancies? Is everyone infertile now or can they make new children? If yes, wouldn't the world get pretty crowded? If your offspring isn't the perfect jw, will they just get killed? He asked us to really think about it but I just get more and more questions xD.

@@Sylvianne-w9q my JW brother was (is) a talented Artist and “built” a perfect rendition of Paradise in his backyard. His Art work was famous and beautiful, some stark if it depicted Armageddon. He gave it all up when his wonderful JW wife passed away. He waits now. Just waits for Armageddon and Paradise to occur. He can’t ever leave, because he must be “faithful to the end” so he can see her again. If he left, he believes he’d be destroyed by Jehovah, after all the years of service he’s given. I am marked an “apostate” so can not help him or have contact, as it is I who am dead, according to this wicked religion. It’s very sad. But at least your dad and my bro have nice places to live for now! 🌹
