When I was in, it ALWAYS bothered me that they never helped brothers and sister, let alone the community. I remember donations being asked of the congregation to help those experiencing difficulties. What bothers me even more is that they say they provide humanitarian aid. They do NO such thing.

It makes me disgusted when something catastrophic happens in an area and all they worry about is their brothers and sisters. What about everyone else affected? It’s gross and not Christ like.

My husband would pray before dinner and I used to do the same thing and not even think about it… but he would pray for all the brothers and sisters around the earth to have enough food or help with problems blah blah and one day I said wouldn’t it be better to pray for everyone that needs food??? Our young daughter looked at him and I think it hit him and he said yeah so now he prays for everyone on the earth not just JWs. It’s so crazy I used to pray like that and it was like I didn’t even realize what I was saying. It was so routine.
And yes, they also report if there is any damage to the Kingdom Hall. There could be hundreds of people injured , but thanks to Jehovah the Kingdom Hall is still standing! Smh

I’ve been out for almost 30 years but no I’ve never known of the organization doing anything for the communities around any congregation. My ex husband’s grandfather was a Presbyterian minister and they ran food banks and had like 2nd hand clothes donations organized to get those things to people in the whole community that needed them. The Organization has never ever done that on any level.
This always bothered me!!! There was so much we could have done for people, not just in the organization, but outside. THAT would have given a better witness than knocking on doors. 40 years in, 5 years out, and it STILL bothers me.
Yes this! When I worked for an Anglican organisation they did so much charity and helped others in the community. JWs do nothing for the congregations let alone the community.
Almost 40 years In and I also never saw or know about the organization doing something for the communities, is always the other way around
Come on give them credit! They gave me such a guilty conscience that I became their plumber free of charge!
The local churches around me run the following things to help the community -
Mother and Toddler Groups
Pre - school Playgroup
Messy Play Saturday for the kids
Food Banks
Jumble Sales
Table Top Sales to help towards
the church funds
Book Clubs
Choir practise
The chance to learn to ring the church bells where appropriate
Summer Fairs
Bring and buy sales
Sunday schools/ after school club
Organised trips away/ camping trips
Scouts, Brownies
Soup kitchens for the homeless
This is apart from all the wonderful celebrations that give people something to look forward to throughout the year.
More recently churches are providing warm and safe spaces for those who want to find companionship along with a drink and a snack.
Not bad eh? to say they’re all part of Satan’s wicked system.
What do J dubs do ? NONE of this ……….They only help their own

Was a witness from 61 to the Australian commission and never once did I see witnesses helping anyone. Door to door was the only help they gave but if you didn't listen you were forgotten. Never. Seen it and never will.
How many older brothers and sisters could use a little help, just housework or grocery shopping? I did when I was in, because I kinda looked up to them as my grandparents who needed help. Older ones get feeble physically and mentally and then are ignored. Shame on them for not LOVING like they're supposed to do.
I never saw the elders once while my mother, sis T, was sick in my house for months! Yet, they wanted to give the funeral talk? Assholes!

It's so weird hearing JW contemporary music. I remember as a kid asking my mom why there wasn't music other than the kingdom melodies and her reply was that "Jehovah's organization is no part of the world". Saying God intervenes in anyone's personal life is so self defeating, it immediately invites you to compare your life to others. This is what started me on the path out of this cult. My life was in shambles despite me trying my best for years.

If you’ve never been a JW, here is a pretty good comparison. The elders are basically an HR department on godly steroids. NO ONE likes getting called into HR!!!
That being said…I thrive under the extreme surveillance and tight HR at the casino I work in. I’m used to feeling like I’m being watched 24/7, and HR doesn’t scare me, because I went through FAR worse 😂🤣

As a 5-year breast cancer survivor this video is beyond ridiculous and offensive. If I had that mindset I'd be dead. Giving up on living NOW to live in the "real life" in "paradise" instead of FIGHTING to live NOW - NOTHING about it is comforting. This video is fearmongering to the fullest extent. Oh, and I have NEVER EVER known WT leadership to DO or GIVE to any members in need. It's ALWAYS on the dime of other JWs. ALWAYS.

Hey Wally. I was involved a tiny bit in some of the rebuilding work in Nepal after the massive earthquake there. I was put there anyway as a need greater, and all the people doing the work were locals or need greaters, so they were there anyway. The local people who lost their homes got built tin shacks. We were helping to build a beautiful kingdom hall though

He may not have been baptized in the WT, and his father may have come into the WT after his son was grown. This is just fiction anyway..

There's been a tragedy here in Brazil these days, a huge flood that destroyed many cites. People from all over the country were sending clothes food and money, but a letter was sent to congregations for brothers not to help by any means, only send money to JW and they will decide how to help. Some PIMIs got shocked, but still obeyed of course. Then they started sharing a video of the JW helicopter delivering some food to a Kingdom Hall. They also appeared on the news, holding JW signs. The reporter asked how they were helping the population they answered they were waiting for their brothers to come so they could help. But he emphasized They were there to provide help for the brother only. In my head i imagined that scene from the animation Mulan, where Mushu is looking for Mulan in the avalanche and he puts back under the snow anyone that is not her.

I think its skeevy that jws won't lift a finger to help with any type of cause, to the point of leaving the country that they live in to avoid conflict but they are the first in line to benefit from the advantages gained on the backs of those who stayed behind to fix things.
Hi Wally. A number of years ago I had run into a rough spot and needed assistance with my electric bill. The elders and some others gave me the money so I could pay off the bill. Fast forward. I was laid off my job due to Co-vid. Savings ran low so ended up asking again. Was told contact a different relief agency. We can't help you. This was the final nail in the jdub coffin.

Yes you are right! In the thirty years that I was a Jw, I never did anything to help anyone! And I never saw anyone in the congregation do anything to help anyone either!
I remember when we were “in”, one of our congregation families fell on hard times. The man had lost his job and he had a wife and three little kids. So we were “new” and without asking an Elder’s permission, we bought them lots of food. We never got thanked, just frowned at by the wife, never a thank-you or would you like a cup of tea? We thought it was just because JWs back in the 70’s weren’t allowed to thank a “creature” but only the “Creator”. Then an Elder finally said “he’s going to be ds’fd so it’s not appropriate to help. Please stop.” Then, wouldn’t they need resources more? No. They don’t work that way. So much for helping a family in need in WT.

I remember when I was a small child, an elderly sister in the congregation gave me a sheep pin. They saw me as a misbehaved mess because I couldn't sit still at meetings, drew in my notebook the entire time and quoute "talked back". When in reality I have ADHD and genuinely can't sit still for longer than a few minutes. Didn't help that everyone already hated me because of my parents situation.
Been free of this cult for 6 years now but love checking in on how things are going lol

I went to houston to help after a storm in 2001. I paid my way out there. They fixed a bunch of the homes of local JWs, but inwas never clear if they pressured them to give WT their insurance settlements or not. It was only for home owners too. I don't think anything was done for renters who lost anything though
I went to Katrina and they most definitely take the insurance money. So factoring in the free labor Watchtower MAKES MONEY on disaster relief

Never 👀 seen 1 jw helped by GB I was born in 3rd generation and my parents were young in WW2...both grandma's needed help. My granpa who were never a jw helped them... I was born late 60ties and left just after my blackmailed baptism in 1985. NEVER HEARD OF OR SEEN HELP FROM GB.

The fact that Gerritt Lösch states: "Ve look at zis picture and try to be like zee shepherd" plainly shows, they do not always end up acting like that shepherd.
In one congregation I was in all the Elders were rich. They all had big houses and nice cars. Their wives always dressed rich too. No modesty at all. And most of the pioneers like myself were often struggling to afford a cheap old car etc. And they would go up on the platform and say we shouldn't be materialistic and trust in Jehovah while wearing £800 plus suits and flashes Rolexs.....
Man the acting in that video is mind blowing. That even the biggest directors say " man i really should start hiring these JW for my next big movie"

Every congregations elders have been told that the money collected can't be used to help anyone in serious difficulties

They have 2 elderly women headéd to their conventíon, staying in WT approved hotels , starting at $140 per night, some driving back & forth poluting the earth as they go on about how WT is daving by building green places. Then the elderly have no grocery money or food stamps left as working caring for a family member to earn part of needed cash for hotel & just enough gas. I was shocked to hear the exact gas figured out by the elders !!! God forbid they stop some place else ! The amout of control over this group is beyond
Never saw jws help anyone “wordly” unless they were studying with the person and it was pulling teeth to get jws to even help other jws.
