While I do share the Jehovah's Witnesses' beliefs, I do think their portrayal of certain situations is a bit extreme. I can understand how some outsiders can be stumbled by some of the JW videos. Parties in themselves are not inherently wrong. I think what the Watchtower is trying to point out is the association at these parties. While clubs in themselves are not immoral, the associations with people at these clubs can be spiritually damaging, and the Bible tells us that "bad associations spoil useful habits." (1Corinthians 15:33) While a woman who goes to a club may not engage in drugs or heavy drinking herself, those around her may do those things. People also tend to engage in loose conduct at clubs.

I left the org 10 yrs ago. Married a non jw man, have 4 great kids, a modest, normal house, a car that hauls this herd of youngins and I am VISCERALLY, DISGUSTINGLY happy. I told my jw mother recently that I am happier now than I had ever been as a pioneer or jw at all. We don’t drink alcohol, we don’t smoke, we don’t party. We’re just normal people living our lives. I really don’t understand why they always assume leaving jws is doom. It’s literally the best thing I ever did. Idk tho, I think I may miss those JW get togethers and the line dancing 😂😂😂😂

Music and Dance are wonderful. I went on to become an Art and Music Therapist later, seeing people relieved from stress and grief and become freed-up from stiff, unyielding bodies which held so
much tension. Music and movement is a good thing. Going out to dance is wonderful, or dance in your own home to music you FEEL. Like Artwork in any media, you are self-expressing instead of holding all the religion in, forcing you to grin from ear-to-ear like a recruiter at a cart. There’s nothing wrong with partying, it can be done without drinking and drugs, just music, dance, socialization, good food.

@@seekhyde499I keep going back to the January 15, 1983, “Watchtower”. In those columns, the Society tacitly admits the veracity of your response by telling Jehovah’s witnesses to “avoid independent thinking” in themselves and to “fight against independent thinking” in others. In those lessons, the Society even goes so far as to compare those who dare think and reason for themselves to Eve.
However, I wouldn’t call it “Orwellian”. After all, George Orwell was writing against that type of thing. Indeed, he would have had a field day with how the Society so accurately fits the role of Big Brother. You’re absolutely right, though, life as one of Jehovah’s witnesses follows “1984” to a “T”.

Ok, I don't know what age everyone commenting here is, but as a 51 yr old and a teenager in the 80s, early 90s, born and raised in, we had dancing 'parties' not get-together's back then and it was like 50+ teenagers at a kids house in someone's basement or in the summer in the garage, you had like 3 chaperones. We always picked a 'cool' elder and their wife (who were known for liking to drink too much and not pay attention) and one other super chill person from the congregation. We would drive across state lines to go to parties. I'm from Pittsburgh, I went to parties in Ohio, West Virginia, Maryland, New York, New Jersey. All as a teenager, with other teenagers. The rules were soooo completely different back then. They were legendary! Maybe that's why 'get-togethers' became a thing! 😂🤣😂 Oh, and btw, my dad was an elder and I was a regular pioneer. Just sayin...

Never understood why they hold so strongly to the blood rule. Even jesus and his father make exceptions to their own rules.
Pharisees accuse jesus of breaking the sabbath but fail to realize that the father works constantly.
Jesus heals a man and then asked the pharisees is it lawful to save life on the sabbath and points out they would save one of their animals if it fell into a ditch on the sabbath. So why is jesus condemned because he heals and forgives a man of his sin. Jesus points out king David ate bread only meant for priests in a Jewish temple but was not punished for it because he was starving.
The pharisees cared more about dogma and neglect the greater parts of the law which are grace, mercy, and faith.
JW's treat dogma as more important. Their rules are greater than the life of the individual.

Great but even the lord and savior jesus christ works on the sabbath and his father works on the sabbath.
Jesus makes the claim if life is involved then it's fine to work on the sabbath. If the son of God is willing to save human life on the sabbath then how much more should normal humans do for each other? To hold to this blood rule while watching a friend or relative dying when you could save them by giving blood is a slap in the face to the Father and the Son. Do not be a pharisee and omit grace, faith, and mercy from the law. Exceptions to the rule can be made.

Abstain from blood to what extent?
Abstain from blood in food? Abstain from touching someone's blood?
What if I bite my lip and blood gushes out? Am I now violating the concession made by the disciples?
Also keep in mind, acts 15:29 is not a god given law. It is a concession given by the apostles. Specifically James. Read acts 15:19-20. James says "Therefore, it is MY judgment that we do not cause trouble for those from the Gentiles who are turning to God, but that we write to them that they abstain from things contaminated
by idols, from acts of sexual immorality, from what has been strangled, and from blood.
James makes it clear that it's HIS decision. The Father nor his Son made this law for the gentiles. It was a concession made by the disciples to keep the peace between converting jews and converting gentiles. Even Paul has made consessions in his letters. Not everything they said is directly out of the mouth of God. Even the writers themselves have their own opinions on certain matters.
In fact in romans14 verse 1 Paul says brothers and sisters in christ shouldn't even be arguing over matters of opinion. What are these matters of opinion? Paul answers that in romans 14 verses 2-6. Things related to food and celebrating certain days are all matters of opinion. There isn't a right or wrong when it comes to that. One man eats only vegetables and another eats all meats and all vegetables. One man makes one day important, another makes all days important. In Paul's eyes both partied are accepted by God and commit no wrong because they do these things in dedication to God. This is not a God given law.
Do not hang this blood rule over the heads of other brothers and sisters in christ. The blood rule given by the apostles is not a command given by God. It is your opinion that u believe blood transfusions can't shouldn't be done. You will cause others to stumble if u push this on others ESPECIALLY since the rule given by the apostles does NOT determine if a person is saved.

I'm married to a JW. I'm atheist - not an Apostate, never a JW. Long story. You said something interesting: why go party instead of reading your Bible? You were sarcastic, of course. My wife has told me that I read the Bible too much, and that it is a waste of time that I read it if I'll never believe it. My answer was simply that, first, it is an important book so it should be understood; second, our politics are too affected by it so I want to understand Christianity overall: and third, she challenged me 15 years ago to study the Bible and the Watchtower (not necessarily WITH them but study THEM), so I have.
She just disagrees with my conclusions, and so do all her elders when they try and fail to convert me.
But I digress - I tell her to read the Bible, even pointing things so she understands her own theology better. SHE REFUSES and instead would watch nonsense RUclips videos or Instagram posts or whatever. She doesn't even understand their theology, and from my many discussions with JWs and elders, not many of them do either. They only study the magazine.

When I was In my 20s And into my 30s, I started To notice something. I would hear these examples and read about these experiences… And I would think “ I’ve been in this goofy religion for all these years and I can count on less than one hand the number of people that have come into the organization with experiences like this. Maybe like one or two back in the 80s when I was a little kid.
Started realizing that there’s a really high Chance that these happen so infrequently and are so rare that they have to put them into the magazines. Otherwise, if it was such a common occurrence… They wouldn’t have to brag about it and publish it as evidence for their believers to think that this is how things really go.
My own antidotal experience growing up in this religion has been that like it’s been brought out by other RUclipsrs, and maybe even yourself that majority of the People coming in are indoctrinated family members and people that have been taken advantage of during difficult traumas.
But these experiences that they play at conventions, etc., are like one in 1 million. You have better chances of Winning the lottery or getting struck by lightning then having an experience like this. I’ve been over a dozen congregations and I can count on one hand how many people from the ministry have come in.
I’m honestly honestly shocked that at this point, when Many of us are in our early 40s and older are still believing that these things really happen that often. How is the average Jehovah’s Witness still being impressed by this stuff?

I asked her about her beliefs about evolution . My dog had come into the room to examine her when she first came and made the Sister kinda nervous.
“Oh she won’t bother you she just wants to know who you are!”
This was about a few weeks later and I mentioned the fact the the dog was affectionate and protective of people she knew. Of course she started telling me about how her cat is the same way . That’s when I knew I had her .

Remember you were once one of them and there are many great people trapped. Be patient be kind. It’s not the flicks fault. They are being led by some bad people.

I spent four years as a flight deck sailor launching planes and going on liberty in sketchy places before becoming a JW. I already knew how to party and was very good at it. When we left the JW’s in 1999 I chased the Sprint Car racing circuit and towed an old pop up camper out to the track. I spent many nights post JW partying after races and howling at the moon. I was a photographer so even got to party with the drivers and crews. Fun times.
So what’s the point of looking in the rear view mirror at JW’s not being partiers? We already all knew that. It’s why we leave the JW’s and fucking ignore them after leaving. Some folks like to keep one foot in for years after leaving. I notice that when these ex-JW vids come up in my recommendations. Young people today don’t know how to leave the JW’s. You walk out the door for the final time and don’t let it hit you in the ass on the way out. Then you ignore the JW’s and what they’re doing today and go out and live your best lives.
    You’re welcome.😂

Can confirm with the music. Backstreet Freestyle turned me to Satan worshipping. On a different note, they interviewed this woman, had the interpreter cry, and had the actual woman reenact her own experiences crying against her door with her demonic blue eyeshadow? Seems legit.

Being a witness since early 70's I've met a few. One chased us down the street yelling he was going to have us arrested in Lakewood Wa. Another retired airforce met me in the street with his chrome plated 45 trying to accuse me of stealing his mail, right after 9/11in Texas. So I have seen some that just hate Witnesses for various reasons like military stance.

A single lady with no kids felt empty? And religion is what she decided on to fill that? Maybe have a family.... it's pretty dang rewarding.
