When I was seriously considering becoming a JW, I had gone from being a happy person with a great sense of humor who loved to make people laugh to the most depressed and miserable person to be around; and every time I made a mistake or sinned against Jehovah, I would beat myself up over it. The day that I met an ex-JW who opened my eyes and steered me away from this cult had to be the happiest day of my life. I was finally able to be myself again, laugh and most of all, I had my freedom. Thank you, Jesus!

They've been coming around lately. New people from the congregation I faded from & some familiar faces. No scriptures, no literature, no computer videos.
It was startling to see the casual clothes, no suits & ties, beards & women in slacks.
Jehovah is growing concerned when analyzing the newest figures; even though he knew exactly what was going to happen 🙃
The angels can get you through a small mud puddle, but they can’t help you when you actually need it, this crap is just insulting.
First day out in service after I got baptized. A sister approached me and said, 1:05 dad's an elder and if you do something wrong he'll disfellowship you" how loving.
I spent 14 years alone in the truth. I would hear about gatherings and outings. Example I was talking to a brother and a sister interrupted us and invited him to a gathering then looked at me and walked away.
If paradise is going to be with people like that, no thank you.

Wow. That’s quite a story. Thank you. I lost my husband and bro. The sisters never cared for me. The first time I went out in Service, an older JW lady came running up to me with a tape-measure and said my skirt was not quite long enough. The stories go on and on. Thank you for sharing yours.
That is/was the story of my mother''s life...She still in it. "I made my vote to Jehovah, not humans!" , even her own blood brother (who got her into this cult). So much potential down the drain. This is a very sad.

What I learned at the convention today: Go to food banks and volunteer and I will meet really good people who don't need JWs in their lives at all.
And not only do many of them not need JWs in their lives, but they will also actively avoid them like the plague.(because they're just annoying)

Yes. That was an example of a good, normal couple functioning well and then being taken OUT of their non-judgemental volunteer work to join an elite society of better-than-thous. Just think of it: at this very moment, JWs are condemning hardworking, happy families and are more than eager to change your lives or condemn you. 😮
If they know that this is the best life ever, they shouldn't get a hard time getting others to join them to enjoy it.

I was my most miserable for the decades as a JW . I was lonely and hated myself . I always felt that I wasn’t good enough
I was born into it. And I was in the same boat as you felt miserable and not good enough. Happy I'm out now. I'm happier now that I'm out than I was in the organization.
I wasn’t born in, but got in and lasted for as long as it took to disagree with an Elder and get ds’fd and shunned. That was enough to make me feel I had gone through a lifetime. I began all over again back in the world, struggle like people do, but I was happy in that I was grounded in reality and I kept climbing up after they tried to destroy me. And they almost did. I know now what joy is because I once felt so WT miserable and trapped.
I was in for 48 years, an elder for 12 and i hated informal witnessing. I guess i should have prayed more.😂

I hope many people watch this because it is so accurate. The couple was happy and know they gave up all that to be a miserable JW wasting their lives. Even the actors are accurate. They went from laughing and doing good for others and feeding the needy to doing nothing worth while and looking miserable and unhappy. If I had never been a JW and I saw this video, I would get out of there as fast as possible. They are doing a great job of making me glad that I escaped. They really should stop telling people that they are encouraging them, because if they said we are going to discourage you as much as possible, it would be more truthful.
My neighbor grew up a witness and she recalls her mom having severe depression .. what’s crazy is her not putting 2 and 2 together
These people have excruciating inner battles. Satan and demons vs Jehovah. It becomes a very serious private mental breakdown. I have seen it. But by then, family is in, their whole social network is from WT. if they leave, they lose everyone. It’s a real hell.
And churches don’t minister to the broken-hearted. Other than our exJW podcasts, where are the therapists specializing? Where are the Authorities to learn and investigate this group and help at least, the children? Where is the support for the scammed elderly or the patients in hospitals being visited by WT HLC to remind them to sign over assets and not take blood? We all have a healthy, fun time making our comments, but who DO these JWs go to when they’re out?
I cant believe this is real 😂 how can current jws take this shit seriously... i have been away from the cult for 10 years and i can't imagine this ever being okay back when i was in it... they have really devolved into something i dont even recognize sometimes. It just makes me so much sadder and madder and more devastated about my entire family still taking this all so seriously 😮😢💔 how did i end up being the only one with a brain that works??

My mom is a real diehard jw. She is constantly waiting for the end to come tomorrow. Hustling to meetings, assemblies back in the days book studies sometimes in her home. As a result never had time to think about herself well being economically or health wise. Always got by with bare minimum to please jehovah. Now she is bombarded with radical cells looks old and wrinkly, loss sight in one eye cataracts her gums are shot etc... For her age 69 looks more like 85. Dont worry jehovah is comming soon and will make her anew young again just have to keep up with what the org says. Me seeing that took a different path, went to gym, stayed away from sugar, went bike riding took supplements everyday, became hvac engineer with good salary etc.. Im on aged garlic suppl and up it up with Coq10 because as we age our q10 vanishes and get sick as hell. Hope i stay better healthy and look better than my mom at 69. She does not know but i now she will die and never see armageddon not even her great grandaughter she never visits will see the end.

My JW bro IS old now, totally “in”, can’t speak with me because I became labeled by them as “apostate” for arguing doctrine, turned in by JW husband and lost both bro and husband for it. I now, however, also have discovered Life and the beauty of fitness, health, praising God my own way, and loving every day. Freedom! Just want to mention: don’t forget to take Vitamin D for your immune system. It was very beneficial during the COVID crisis. There’s also a book I am now reading, if you’re interested (no, I’m not a book salesman, but my kids got it for my BIRTHDAY-Yes--BIRTHDAY). It is called: “Rise of the Fourth Reich ( Confronting COVID with a New Nuremberg Trial, So This Never Happens Again) by Steve Deace and Daniel Horowitz. It is testimony from doctors-anyway, it encourages Vitamin D which I have taken for a very long time. Sounds like you take good care of yourself. Bravo! As for my JW brother, I cannot speak with him, WT blew our family apart years ago, but I now accept that at his age, he has made a choice. I attempt to respect that, but his JW wife had died so even if he wanted to leave, he can’t. Because they say if he leaves, he’ll never see his beloved wife in the Resurrection because he will be destroyed. So how can he leave? It’s a cruel and unusual genocidal cult. I’m very sorry about your Mom. I totally get it. Glad I’m out.

Exactly! Or they’re young with a little child who has to stand like a pet on a leash all day. They remind me of scammers who hold cardboard signs up saying they’re starving, with a little child having to stand with them while they run their scam. It’s sorrowful. Just discovered your channel. Really interesting stuff. I was raised JW by my Mum until around 12 or 13. My dad isn't a witness so it's always been a weird atmosphere in my household growing up. I'm 27 now and my mum is seriously heavily indoctrinated. My dad and I are sad because we know she's basically never leaving now. She'd have nothing if she left. No purpose or friends... its sad really. We soldier on though.

That’s the key, I think: PURPOSE. People really believe they have a real Purpose in life, by getting into WT. Like my older brother who’s been a JW now for most of his life, I’m afraid for him if he ever got out now because it’s all he’s ever really heart and soul believed in. And he’s old now. His JW wife died and now they say if he leaves, his wife will be resurrected but will miss HIM because he’ll get destroyed! So how can he possibly leave? I know it’s very sad. Hold on.

I’m pretty sure Rutherford got the whole door-to-door shtick from vacuum cleaner & encyclopaedia salesmen. Bible Students had a role of colporteurs selling literature, but Rutherford really cracked the business whip into hard sales pitches
Dale Carnegie was real popular in those days: “How To Win Friends and Influence People” I think it was called. Years before my husband became a JW, he was into all the Dale Carnegie Sales Seminars and books. Right up his...alley. 😮

As a fundamentalist Christian I was greatly disturbed by what I witnessed: the transactional nature of almost everything - in complete opposition to the “Good Samaritan” example. Then much later after huge turmoil from these dynamics, realising & seeing in retrospect the petty power plays and nepotism that was going on in plain sight, but which I denied was possible because I thought we all had the same Holy Spirit.

I used to volunteer for the ymca in the uk and I lived threa aswell and they tryd to stop me from doing it I'm so glad I'm not in the cult.
Because if we've learned anything from the band The village people the LBGTQ community have definitely got quite the infamous history of congregating and hanging out at the YMCA.(and we know full well how the watch tower society feel about the whole LBGTQ thing.)

I pioneered for a whole year and didn't bring a single person into the org. I placed loads of magazines and had conversations with countless people at their homes and on the street.
Anyway, it was never an effective way to make converts. But what is effective? Not carts either.

I hooked my best friend as a Bible Study. She ended up falling in love with my husband! Then there was the elderly couple who loved me because they felt sorry for me because I was shy. They’d stuff me full of donuts and hot chocolate. After I was ds’fd and my husband left with the best friend, I went to the elderly couple and apologized for the “Not the Truth afterall”. They laughed and they cried with me and said they always knew, but they loved ME. That was about all for me. I was as bad at giving Bible Studies as I was going door-to-door! 😢😮

When I was a university Student, I made the mistake of inviting and studying the bible with Jehovah witnesses. We went through two booklets, and by the end of the second booklet they had started to bring out baptism quite often and what I would have to leave behind to serve Jehovah. At somepoint they brought up things like reading books that portrays magic in a positive light, videogames etc... Now, I'm big fan of fantasy, I read and write them, and I also love narrative based videogames. When I heard that I was gonna leave my hobbies behind, I said time to make a swift exit. Jehovah ain't worth all of that. I ended up ghosting them when I asked them to give me sometimes to study for my exams. They probably didn't like it when I said that but they didn't try to stop me. Never bothered to text them or answer their texts and phone call. Best decision of my life.
Me too I love science, sci fi and fantasy and I have a big library of books . They’d be pissed at me just for the science as I accept modern science facts like common descent ancestry

My friend who has been slowly pointing things out that has been very awful and proof that this cannot possibly have God‘s blessing is that her convention. I really believe in God and Angels now that I’m out. When I was in, we were not allowed to talk about Angels or Jesus. In the 70’s. It’s changed a lot. But anyway, when I got labeled apostate and got ds’fd and shunned, I lost a lot. But I swear, Jesus became my Savior by being there for me. Without Him, I would’ve died. There was no Jesus or Angels in WT at that time. It’s all recent changes to gain more worldly or other church folks. It’s a scam.

The slow talking, the polite tone, it’s all so culty! What husband and wife talk like that to each other all the time???
They never kiss, never have sex (they wouldn’t show that but nothing but missionary style is allowed), they never chase each other around the house or dress up like Batman or Zorro even, no game-playing, no cuddling up to a movie, no arguments, no banging of pots n’ pans, no pets, no home projects anymore, no...nothing.
I reactivated a social media account just to see how the JWs are doing. I noticed that they all looked like there’s a dark cloud hanging above them but they’re trying their best to look sunny. They are trying to convince themselves that they are living the best lives ever but their auras show that that’s not really the case. I also read some of their expressions. Most ladies are going through some sort of depression. I feel sad for them. 😢 There are lots of righteous blessings that they are deprived of. Like honing their skills to be useful to the community, having a happy marriage, and having children. They are all just stuck there waiting for Armageddon which is supposed to be just right around the corner and believing they won’t reach their 50’s in this system of things. They think they are sacrificing and slaving for Jehovah but they are only slaving for a man-made organisation. One book that helped me accept my being gay was "What the Bible Really Says About Homosexuality" by Damiel A Helminiak. It covered the same scriptural arguments, dismantling them.
I struggled up to age 45 to "deaden myself." I never had any physical touching (hugs could trigger me). I never attempted any sexual activity with others of my sex. If my eyes drifted to another man, I'd quickly glance away and say a silent prayer asking for help. Needless to say, nighttime prayers always included an earnest appeal to relieve me of these desires. Always went in field service, always attended meetings, always prepared for them, etc.
My only relief - for which I was essentially condemned - was masturbation, which was purely a physical act: I didn't think of men. It was an assexual act. "Knowing" it was still a sin, I tried with all my being to control that. I'd relapse once or twice a month - and immediately feel condemned.
I made the mistake of finally confiding in the PO. I thought Jehovah may be withholding his spirit from the congregation due to my "sin." That made its way up to the CO. I was given an ultimatum: Either step down or be officially removed as an Elder. I was given the usual bullshit "cure" for masturbating: Get married. I couldn't do that to another Sister. Plus, I had the stress of taking care of my disabled mother and sister.
Five years of inner turmoil continued until my breaking point. I was doing everything by the book and nothing was changing. I felt I
I was a failure. I was either going to commit suicide or come out and leave the JWs - even though I otherwise fully believed in it.
I decided I needed to leave. The religion should have made me want to live. Instead, it made me want to die. During the six months from my accepting and embracing my orientation to my formal Disassociation, I discovered how totally screwed up their teachings were. Both of the Raymond Franz books opened my eyes.
I DAd knowing that even if I had been straight, I'd leave the religion.
