I was in a dark place when I decided to be roped in. I started to feel like I was in a community with people who sincerely cared about me, I felt like I belonged. That is once I decided to take the dip, then slowly but surely I started having doubts, the people who I thought were going to be lifelong and eternal friends we're anything but. Then covid came and that's when I fully realized I was in a cult seeing all those robotic faces on Zoom, and that's when I started fading. Of course the texts and calls came in once my screen name wasn't on Zoom for weeks. The hipster couple seemed much happier before they became witnesses in this video, their stress levels went up because that's what happens when you live a life full of guilt if you don't witness enough, pray enough, study enough, attend boring meetings around fake friends enough, the list goes on. Great video Wally, always funny and entertaining.
I understand your experience. It would be nice to hear your story or read about it, if you enjoy Writing. It all sort of “dawns on us” after the baptism part.
Yes I started Bible study with them and they already dropped me bc I joined a Christian church 😂

I started fading after I came out of the dunk tank. I noticed how I was treated, certainly unfairly and often times abuse occurred as well. Then came the CSA issue. At that point, I said, NOPE, I'm done here, Gone and never to return.

@greyberet1 I believe you; I was raised jw in the Northwest, I was one of the lucky ones who chose not to get involved by being baptized, ect. Hindsight is 20/20 vision, SO glad I dodged THAT bullet!!! Much success!!!

Thank you! I made some questionable choices by staying in (sort of 😆) and met my future wife (that worked out well for us both), then we both just walked away, no fuss or even reaction from our former “friends”…
Just as well 😆…and that was well before all the scandals involving the wt “gb”, the exposure of the CSA, and all the things being exposed and the consequences to the wt.
Yeah, the wt doesn’t want to bring reproach upon the name of jehooovah (a name invented centuries ago by a cleric of some denomination), and so much more…
I’m ashamed to admit that I was ever associated with them at all…

I watched the news today and not once did they mention the org being persecuted, but they did say a bunch of other religions were going or have been undergoing harsh treatment! Yet they act like they are the only ones who endure persecution. So cringe, we used to believe that way - like we were so special and being persecuted for the faith, lol.😂
A strong point about why religious advocates, salesfolk, and overeager men wanting a date have all got under my skin in the exact same way since I can remember - they have their desired outcome, and I'm a vending machine in their eyes. My wants, my choices, are hella irrelevant

The assured expectation of knowing they might be spared by the ‘chosen ones’ must be comforting. Remember, it’s not what Christ’s shed blood did for you, it’s what you can do to prove your worthiness. ☹️

Hey Wally. I liked the disappearing act of the elderly man! I've been in my garden & stayed perfectly still by a bushy plant while they called & left. After they left, I recalled clips of people reaction when Jw knocked on their door, which had me rolling with laughter. Hope you're having a great day & stay safe!

Yes. It’s so hard to have JWs around for conversation, because it seems EVERYTHING a normal group of company could talk about, you CAN’T with a JW. You can’t talk politics. Religion. How your son loves watching Boxing or Wrestling. How your daughter is preparing for University. Cant talk about good brands of vodka. Cant talk about the horror movies you snuggle up to with a bowl of ice cream. Cant talk about growing old. Makeup. Nail polish. Hair styles. HOA. Gossip. You name it, you can’t talk about it without offending. It’s eggshells. You’re exhausted afterwards.

I can’t even imagine the type of person that becomes a JW in their adult years in 2024
About 15 years ago I knew a young girl who was attacked by a dog while preaching. Her leg muscles were exposed and disconnected from her body. I believe she fully recovered but anyway… I guess her angel was more concerned with puddles that day
On one of the first times I went out in the ministry I went to a door, there was a good dog the step it was all wagging tail and pats, turned to leave and it lunged and got hold of my calf. It bruised so bad, but that was Satan apparently trying to persuade me to not go witnessing. Thank goodness I woke up before I got Baptised into this cult. Unfortunately my husband (who was raised in the cult is still a POMI) The calls from his parents every month or when there is a disaster of some sort and the whole “oh Armageddon is nearly here” right you said that 30yrs ago when we got married and told us not to have kids, luckily we didn’t listen because we would be told old now no kids and sad and lonely, like many of his family members.
I remember a brother was attacked by dogs after he ignored the Beware of Dogs sign. He told the brothers the angels were w/ us, & they wouldn’t allow us to be harmed in the ministry.
This was like in the 80’s, & shortly thereafter, after more & more reports started to surface of JWs being cited for disobeying No Trespassing Signs & other City Ordinances, they gave instructions to obey such signage.
Yep! We got the same talks. Our territory included a lot of rural, mountainous area. An elder disregarded the No Trespassing signs and had a shotgun trained on him with a very angry man holding the trigger. He, the elder, was such a pompous jerk….

Good god that example was so misleading. I hated the subliminal shit. Not only were those ‘actors’ completely unable to display the emotional complexity of changing one’s spirituality, there was a woman minister officiating the couple’s wedding, the sister in law used ‘Neanderthal’ as an insult (that didn’t even work in context), and the use of JWs to police them rather than validate and support. And look - the couple isn’t doing anything to help the community in practical ways anymore. No. Nope. Nah.

My mother’s side of the family studied before my existence. My grandmother was baptized and then disfellowshipped because she didn’t quit smoking in the 70s. I remember my mother and stepdad studying through my childhood. That’s when I heard it was the “true religion”. I got baptized in early adulthood and believed. That belief, after I was inactive reared its ugly head. I’ve been so negatively affected from 2018 on. But thankfully I have unpacked all of the psychological issues and trauma from the religion. Damage was done to my life when I didn’t know it was a farce. I still have resentment because all those events would not have happened if I would not have been indoctrinated. My CPTSD would have presented in a different way. Not a purging of the JW religion.
This is so true when I was studying I had to shut down on others but after all I realised this is a cult.

I feel for you. None of my family are no longer in. I learned from family that only studied. So, my life is beautiful on this side because I can enjoy the beauty of people that aren’t JWS and in my community. I know you love your wife. If she’s never going to wake up… consider choosing happiness and peace. Not judgement and doomsday negativity.

Omg, so these ppl are to give up all their OWN goals for the organization's (I mean Jehovah's) goals?!?!? The Bible talks about the apostles giving up everything to go preach and not have a family, any material things, a career, to make preaching the only thing they did. The ppl in all the congregations in Bible times... it didn't talk about them going door to door, or preaching. They worshipped at the synagogue and took care of their daily life and family... the end. Preaching was the apostles job. The governing body uses and misconstrues every scripture to guilt ppl into their miserable new life of dedicated service to the organization... I mean Jehovah....

I’ve been wondering how many people actually went to this years convention? I know where I live the Spanish no longer rent the big arenas. They use their own assembly hall that doesn’t hold that many. But the English still rent the arenas. Just wondering if anybody went and was it empty? That would be a sure sign that the religion is crumbling.
