There’s one pedal out of the three in a regular car’s driver footwell that gets’ a lot less love than it’s companions. Of course we are talking about the clutch. It was that impossible task when we were learning how to drive and a pain in the knee in traffic afterwards. But there is also that joy that you get when you master it and it becomes second nature. There's few things more rewarding than balancing the throttle and clutch and acing a launch off the line or heel and toe downshifting as you break for a corner. It took skill and when you got it right it allowed you to connect with the car a lot more.
Hyundai’s iMT is the latest attempt of deleting the clutch, it promises to be easier to live with in the city while all the benefits of a manual. But wait. I know a lot of petrolheads are planning on switching to the next video on their playlist right now. I urge you to stick around. This one’s a bit of a surprise!x`x``

IMT s clearly the best solution when compared to amt and cvt...And even compared to AT N DCT, Imt can offer more fun, less costly, easy maintenance and better fuel efficiency, less lags in lower gears.... Wonderful move from Hyundai and Kia

14:17 The first question I have is that while Hyundai are pushing this as more affordable version of having an automatic without having to splurge on a DCT, the DCT gearbox starts with S variant while iMT starts with SX. While obviously S may be low on features, it starts at Rs 35K (ex showroom price, for comparison it make a difference of 44k on road in bangalore) lower price point. Would i sacrifice a superior gearbox for some features, especially i get the same engine? Probably yes. Hyundai should have added the iMT on the base turbo petrol too, would have made alot more sense IMO.
Not everyone needs a DCT...High on maintenance, less fuel efficiency, lag in lower gears (not for german cars)
@@arjunmohandas8870 though DCT is a dual clutch, VW DSGs are superior in feel I guess. And I agree about DCT being expensive when they break down. I have only driven DSG on VWs, not tried any DCTs by other manufacturers. So I can't comment on lag on Hyundai
Hoping there would be a long term review for iMT..and looking for more improvement like autoblip which is already available on motorcycle..

Excellent experiments. DCT doesn't have 6 airbags version. But venue got 5 star in ANCAP with 6 airbags. So safety conscious people may prefer imt bcoz of this, also aided by the killer price startegy just above MT

You do really add great value and practical aspects which would help a lot specifically for 1st time buyer.. However I am bit confused to choose among Kia Sonet. ❤️ Says Sonet for added features & the dashing look while brain says Venue for brand value.. Pls guide..
My suggestion is that wait till sonet release and check the reviews

If you're really concerned about the clutch, don't you think an auto is a better option? Not just your left leg but left hand is free too.. Have a burger. Petrol heads need the left side to drive..
That means the gear shifter itself having attached clutch.
Proper AMT in my book. Btw i consider only CVT as 100% automatic
It's not. The gearbox apart from the clutch is exactly the same as a manual and will last forever. AMT has automatic shifting mechanisms in the gearbox. From the videos I have seen there's no head nod in this car which means the manual shifting of this iMT is much faster than the slow shift of AMTs.

@@palashchoudhury5565 It's called automated manual because the gear design is similar to a manual transmission and the word 'automatic' was used in the auto world to refer to torque converter autos with a planetary gear system. That doesn't mean AMTs are not automatic. They are indeed fully automatic. iMT don't have any automatic shifting mechanisms. It is a pure manual with a mechanical shifting lever connected mechanically to the gearbox like a manual car. AMT is not that. You can't mechanically shift an AMT. It is fully automatic.
Very useful point around 6 min time. Car rolls back in slope. He says it’s very negligible. But NO. It’s dangerous
Hey, no need to worry at all. Because we are not using one leg for the clutch. Just use that leg for the brake and put right leg on accelarator. There won't be any roll back then.

Why didn't hill assist kicked in, role back should have been stopped.

Hyundai has amt only in santro and nios not all of hyundai familiy . Also lower the variant many features like reverse parking sensor, camera , bluelink are not available and coming to this IMT simple way to put this as an amt where you manually change gears with.

Booked HTX+ IMT Kia Sonet....i m 6'1 and i found venue small in headroom than sonet... Am worried about turbocharged engine is it reliable than natural aspirated engine ?

Sonet suspension not good n too cumbersome for 3ppl at rear...I m sort of happy with my XUV 300... FE should be Lil bit on higher side....
What if we drive in 5th gear at 70 km and then stop the vehicles without dowshift

Why not an AMT instead of iMT ? Instead of both clutch and gear been managed by actuator here only clutch is being managed by actuator. AMT could have made it completely Auto

Since it's a pure manual as far as the gearshifts go, it's a very bad idea just like in a manual transmission. Automatic cars won't shift into reverse while the car is moving forward and the gear lever is just a switch that gives a signal. Here the shifter is a mechanical one just like a manual transmission. Only the clutch is automatic.

You're driving top variant (SXO) which already has HA. How does SX or other lower variant imt work on incline? Does it roll back or IMT has inbuilt Hill Assist?
Totally true. I drove the SX variant and the car behaves as in neutral gear in between the moment when taken leg of brake and moved to accelerate. Don't know about Sonet.

thumbs up to the review but thumbs down to the iMT. I would suggest to either buy a manual or an automatic. If you buy an automatic atleast one of your hand will remain free while driving and in such a case it is very easy and also safer to have a snack or even use a mobile once in a while (though one should not do it at all but who are we kidding??)
