    Would you consider a Hyundai Venue? If not, what would you buy instead?
    For those that like my '80s/'90s car videos, don't worry, more are coming! Occasionally manufacturers let me borrow new cars and I simply can't pass up the opportunity! If you like my '80s/'90s videos, there will be a new one next week. Thanks for your support! :)

      We still get the Accent hatchback up here in Canada...so that would be my first choice from them. I'm a big fan of Hyundai and of cheap and basic cars, so I would prefer that a CUV.
      That being said, the Venue and Kona are only CUVs I would consider buying right now because they are still small and more car-like. I like the fact that you can get the Venue with a manual transmission still in base trim, as I love driving stick.
      The Venue is pretty much just a Hyundai Accent underneath. It's the same platform and drivetrains, I believe.

      I have been thinking about replacing my wife’s 2008 Saab. It is still a great car and runs awesome but it just has so many little problems that are going to be expensive to fix. One of them being a rather large oil leak. I’m thinking of getting her the new Nissan versa but may consider this after watching your video thanks dude!

      Can we get the Kia Rio hatch here still? We need a review of those. Accent hatch seems to have disappeared. ...and the HR-V is OK, but too expensive for us cheap folk. Maybe Corolla hatch? I dunno. I am just waffling as I am realizing no one will be making a car to my liking when I get ready to buy again. Please do review all small, cheap cars you can get your hands on.

    I don’t understand how your video was not on the top of the list when researching this car on RUclips.
    This review was absolutely perfect, the way the video was shot, the montage, the colors everything was on point. You covered every important point and showed great examples. I really liked how it bounced from the exterior and interior to show a bit of both.
    Also loved the red shoes to match the car.
    Very nice review should definitely be on the top of the list. 👍🏽

    VENUE...Perfectly adequate for the average driver without a family or the need for a larger SUV.

    I work 2 miles from home and don't go too far from home on days off. This would be a perfect vehicle for me. Don't feel the need to spend a lot of money when over time is goes down in value. I would be a good candidate for an electric car, but not at the prices of today. Really liked your review.

    Bought my 2021 venue in September and love it - yes looks small but plenty of room inside - love the style and look of this mini suv - I know it comes with complimentary oil change BUT I’m not the type that lies to wait hours for an oil change - I just did my own oil change with the help of RUclips video ( just wanted to be sure since it’s a new car to me ) and it’s so simple to change the oil and filter and I’m just the type of person that likes to work with my hands - driving on the freeway or streets has the same great response as far as steering, handling and noise is not as bad as some people say it is - it’s fun to drive - I highly recommend This fun, great looking vehicle- great job Hyundai 👍🏼

    It’s very interesting that the subcompact crossover grows to satisfy two very different purposes. That’s why it’s taking market share from subcompact sedans and hatchbacks.
    The first purpose is a city car, which should be small and short to accomodate limited parallel parking. Giving drivers and passengers a more upright and taller seating posture reduces the length of the car.
    The second purpose is an inclement weather resistant car. The “snow” driving mode should clue you in. People aren’t looking for a true outdoor car that can run a Paris Dakar rally, they just want something taller that doesn’t instantly get stuck in a little snow, or be terrified of a little pothole.
    As you can see speed is not an important consideration, because both roles don’t need it.

  • @jamesstuart3346

    Having started driving in the early 80's I always smile at reviews citing an 8.8 sec 0-60 as slow. That was a turbo Trans Am back in the day, lol. Anything under 11 was 'pretty quick' then when a mid-size Malibu with a strangled 267 V8 took about 14 and high school kids drove around in hand me down slant 6 Valiants or Volares :)

      @@HelloRoad Over in Europe 8.8 sec 0-60 was almost hot hatch territory back in the eighties. And if you lived like me on the less fortunate side of the iron curtain, the same acceleration took you 15-20 seconds at least. Heck, we even had new cars (Trabant and Polski Fiat 126) which had 60 as their stop speed :D

      I started driving in 1980. Our family car was a 73 Duster Slant 6 that seemed very slow until it was replaced with a 1975 Fury sedan with a Slant 6. I would be surprised if 0-60 in the Fury took less than 18 seconds. On average, cars today are far too powerful for the low skill and highly distracted people driving them.

      @@rightlanehog3151Exact! Too much of everything in the cars now. Power, electronics, computers, phones and toys in general. Even cars with standard transmissions today are to complicated! Drove my some Mustang GT with a 6 speed standard a couple of years ago. Power? Yes. Easy to drive? Yep! Too easy! With all of these computer assisted functions a 12 year old with no driving experience would be able to shift it without rolling back or stalling it! Not a lot of skill needed.

    Ethan, We are about the same height so the head room and passenger room are really impressive for a vehicle with this footprint. Sadly, in 2021 the fuel economy of just 31 mpg is disappointing.
    I would like to see the new Yaris Cross come to our market to offer this level of space efficiency combined with 60 mpg, independent rear suspension and AWD. For the record, they sell a manual Venue in Canada which would probably be more fun to drive.

      Clocks run a little faster down under. 9 seconds on a northern hemisphere clock is 12 seconds down under. Don’t believe me? Well guess I knew something nobody else knows.😆

    Nice review, the retro tie in at the start was great. It would be cool to include a couple of other throwbacks here and there, ex: when mentioning the 0-60 time, see if you can find an Excel's rating from the 80's as a contrast. Keep it up 👍

    Great review Ethan 👏. You touched on so many things people should be aware of when looking at a car and yes I would consider it for what the cost is. Only draw back for me is the lack of power. With a bigger engine or a turbo I'd definitely consider it but I could not part with my 09 VW Tiguan for this. I'd miss the turbo when I need it .

    I'm over the SUV/CUV craze. Sedans, wagons, coupes etc need to come back. That said, I would love to see you review the Kia Carnival. At least that is in the minivan market, and those at least aren't an SUV/CUV.
    Still, great review. At least this thing isn't egg shaped like every other one of these today.

    • @TripReviews
      @TripReviews 27 дней назад

      Problem with sedans is they are one purpose vehicles. Not versatile at all. You go to the store but something larger than the opening of your trunk or tty squeezing it through under the back window if you are lucky to have the back seat drop down and you’re out of luck! Been there done that, got the rental receipt for a van to prove it.

    • @Staatus_Quo
      @Staatus_Quo 27 дней назад

      @TripReviews I should really trim that list, as sedans have their place and all as people movers... But wagons are king. Handle better than an SUV, are sporty, can haul like an SUV, and are actually good looking and fun to drive.
      My 9⁵ Aero Sportcombi is pushing over 300hp and is a hoot to drive and it can hold as much as my wife's Edge. And my V60 is smaller, with 285hp, and is even crazier than the 9⁵ even though it isn't the full-fat RDesign T6 or the king Polestar V60.

    I'm really indifferent about this car. Not sure if I really like how it looks. I'm definitely not interested in a car with a CVT.

      Whats your take on CVTs? Why do u feel that way on CVTs

    • @Trance88
      @Trance88 3 года назад

      @@sosawillduma1073 they have a history of not lasting as long, and they tend to drone up and down, also they tend to not send linear torque to the wheels and are often kinda sluggish compared to what it would be if it had a standard torque converted auto or a manual trans. They're always tuned for economy, rather than performance.

    I wish the Japanese companies would embrace the smaller crossover segment in the USA with models with nice trim levels, - namely the subcompact segment. But, sadly subcompact class vehicles are just poor sellers here in the USA (unlike most of the rest of the world).

      Toyota Corolla Cross is coming, and it looks like it will be on the larger end of the segment. Plus, it gets the exact same power train as the corolla, with optional AWD. Then there's the Honda HR-V, but it has the 1.8 engine from the 8th gen Civic. The Mazda CX3/CX30 are the best in this segment, IMO.

    31 mpg? My 2016 Volkwagon Jetta gets 50mpg on the highway. And that’s a small car. I would never drive or own a tiny crossover. Great video.

    Was really wondering how it compares to a Soul. Seems similar.
    As an owner of 2008 Fit Base and a 2012 Soul, need to know what our options are when they finally conk out.
    Would love another Fit, and may have me being “that guy” who drives the 25-year-old tiny Honda if they don’t have one for me when I go car shopping again.

      Two days ago I replaced my 2012 Fit Sport with a new Venue SE (base model) and am pleasantly surprised how quickly this little SUV is growing on me! I was looking for tiny hatchbacks but the salesman suggested I test drive the Venue, and I am glad I did! It is a nice, small "around town" vehicle with lots of features for the price.

    I am a Kia/Hyundai fan but I would not buy this one. If you want 2wd I would go Soul or Toyota CH-R, but if you live where you need AWD (which you cant get with this one) I would move up to the Honda HRV or Hyundai Kona.

    Clean looking car, but my head hurts looking at cars like this that "stack" the headlights.
    Cars have faces, so I never know which lights are the "eyes"...Does this venue have eyes that are lower, with eyebrows up above?
    Or are its eyes on the top, and it has lit cheeks??

    • @HelloRoad
      @HelloRoad  3 года назад

      Haha!! Yeah a lot of new cars are doing this, especially Hyundais. Even the new Blazer. I like the look but it does mess with the whole "car face" thing!! 😆It's similar to what Pontiac originally did with the Aztek (and what Nissan did with the Juke), but not so goofy looking.
