The Hyundai Venue is a sub-compact crossover SUV new for 2020 and competes with small SUV's like the Toyota C-HR, Honda HR-V, Nissan Rogue Sport and Kicks, Jeep Renegade, Kia Seltos, Subaru Crosstrek, Mazda CX-30 and many others.
In this real world owner review, we will meet the owner, talk to them about what motivated them buying this vehicle, we'll look at the standout features, take it for a test drive, and end with closing thoughts on competitors and what I would buy if I was shopping this category.
Enjoy the review! Would you buy a Venue or would you choose one of its close competitors? Let us know below in the comments.

Which trim is this?
it doesnt look basic...it has technology and looks modern...thats all we need...
Would you buy a Venue over its competitors? Why or why not? Let us know below in the comments!
I would buy this vehicle over and over. Im 4'11 and it gives me height and I love the lane departure. I just bought the hyundai venue sel 2021 in the same color. The seats are super comfy and I love the dials for the ac unit. I feel safe and my confidence in driving is so much better. Perfect compact suv 🤍
Yes I would. Snow mode option, the warranty, the tech at that price point, the mpg, and it looks pretty cute.
I'm having a hard time getting my hands on one these days though. They sell fast!
I looked at it. I almost bought the Limited 2023 edition of it. They did not have it prepared for me as they promised, so they would not let me test drive it. I had to put a deposit down and come back to test drive it. That was one of the reasons they lost my sale. Also, they added $1500.00 in packages they forced me to take, or they would not sell me the car, things I did not want. I went with the Nissan Kicks instead. I'm concerned about the transmission, but the Venue has had transmission problems too (and exploding seat belts there is a recall on, and horns that don't work, etc.) Both cars come with documented problems. Both cars also have happy owners. I liked the sporty style of the Kicks better, and I liked the ample cargo room and leg room of the Kicks. But both cars are attractively priced and have nice features. Had I gotten to drive the Venue, I might have purchased that and never visited the second dealer. I had driven the Kicks for two weeks as a rental car, and I test drove my car at the dealer. As I bought the SV Kicks, it did not have some of the stuff the Limited Venue had, but I'd have paid $2,000.00 more for the Venue Limited. And I really don't need a leather wrapped, heated steering wheel, heated seats, and fake leather seats. I like that the Venue had GPS, but someone complained that it doesn't work very well. I also don't know about LED headlights. Some say these blind other drivers because they are so bright and cause accidents. I also liked that my screen is set into the dash, whereas the Venue just tacks it on like an I-Pad. Also, the Venue had a cheap blue plastic ring around the stuff on the dash, and I did not want to pay $65.00 for an unattached cup holder for the back (worth about $5.00) or $30.00 for a first aid kit. All these and more hiked up the price on the Venue.
Hyundai price and long warranty is so competitive. Their quality is right behind Honda and Toyota but for thousands less. They're getting better year after year. Good job hyundai!
Hyundai's are cheap plastic piece of junk. 100k life on them if one is lucky. Same goes with KIA and to a lesser degree Genesis.
I disagree with the not being family car. I have two kids and they fit perfectly in the car which I thought was going to be a problem I'm coming from a 2014 Lincoln mkz. I have a toddler and teenager and we even packed the truck for a rode with luggage, I just took that cargo piece out. I got this because I can easily pass this on to my teen in the next 3 years and all the safety features ♥️♥️ the only thing I would change is the interior lighting. I definitely missed that interior iridescent lighting from my Lincoln.
I have 3 kids would they be able to fit? I have a 4 year old so the car seat might take up space
@@angiebabe8351 if its a really big car seat then that might be a issue, also it's probably not the grow with me family car if that makes sense, and sitting 3 people in the back seat might be uncomfortable to whoever's in the middle. My youngest just turned 5 so her booster fits fine. Hopes this helps some.
@Angie Babe So how’s your venue now? Reliable? Any problems with engine?
My Hyundai Venue Ultimate (top trim in Canada) has the Acid Yellow exterior with yellow & green accents on the seats and air vents. The steering wheel has yellow stitching as well
Great choice, cool colors
Any updates?? do still loving your Venue ?
Yes that car should get 40 + mpg, if you stay under 3000 rpm and don't try to use it as a race car.
I wouldn't call it nickel and diming instead why not embrace it what the car was meant for. It was meant to be a low cost new car option. If you want all that stuff standard then pay extra for it. So tired of people complaining about how expensive cars have become but then wanting them to come with everything.
This is a great point. I think a lot of us have become a little spoiled.
The cutout in the roof is for sunroof controls. I own a 2020 Venue SEL with the premium package. It comes with a sunroof standard with that package
I like a real world interview!
The lack of a front interior light is downright strange.
I have the same car and yes not having a front interior light is sooo annoying!! The upper models do have the front interior light. I'm trying to figure out alternatives, besides a push light 🤣🤣.
I bought my 2021 SEL and it has front lights. So they changed that quick lol
Hit the like because you're local to me! I'm looking at this, and the kona. Trying to upgrade from a PT cruiser. Many people do not understand that moving from a small car 15 years ago is basically a micro car into today's age. Lol
Wife just bought one the second model and loves it
You need to do the bicycle storage and laydown test, how much room does it have inside, can a small person sleep lengthways/diagonally etc. The Honda Jazz wins for bicycle storage and two people, an old model could do up to five bikes vertically with front wheel off. I want a small car to drive around Oz with a light teardrop in tow, will be taking a few bicycles.
Awesome video! Looking at the 2021 sel to get the snow mode upgrade, this was a great pov for an average owner
Glad you liked it!!
I'm actually leaning toward the elantra. The Elantra gets better mileage and has more power. I have done a ton of research. The Venue is adorable but may not be good for long commutes
i like this review. thank you! keep it up sir! 🙏🏻
Thanks for a great review.
Much to like about this type of car testing. From the horse's mouth, rather than a salesman's.
thanks
The Cx-30 is around $4,000+ more expensive and has a much shorter warranty.
Yup. It's like comparing apples to oranges.
you used a super wide angle lens on this poor girl. You made her look as wide as she is tall when she is probably slender.
I believe her Venue is the SE trim level???. That may explain why she does not have Blind Spot monitoring. @ center lights between the visors. Also her cargo cover is removable @stores right behind the rear seats. Her dealer should have should told her that feature at delivery . Premium pkg cost $2350.00. I did some.checking. I was wrong she has a SEL. That center.light by the visors is only there when you get.the .premium package. My mistake. SORRY
First vehicle I have really liked in a few years. I have no plans to give up my manual 15 XB, I know it has a ton of years in it. But if I was in the market?!it really needs a Manual Trans.
I love this car♥️
😂😂he changed the name again!
Is that a new color for the VENUE( looks like Mazda’s poly metal Grey)
The CX 30 doesn't get the mileage of the Kona
Mines not like that I have a light and my steering is leather
You must have the trim upgrade
Haha car broker that is a funny name for a car salesman.
Are you sure they dropped the stick shift?
In USA yes
2022 Canada base model comes standard with 6 speed manual
What a weird conclusion at the end... compares a CX30, which is $5000 to $6000 more than the SEL... of course it's better! Duh...
i see 99 ranch bag...
Sorry but... no way is she getting 45 to 50 mpg when H-Day claims 34 on HWY. I can believe maybe 38 .
@wirsindheldenowns Still no way in "H" is she getting that MPG !
I strongly believe that she used Canadian MPG by mistake. It happens
@@chuckycheese84 Must have....
@wirsindheldenowns Down a Mountain in neutral...
Many people lie about their MPG. They just "wish" they had a great MPG so they will give you a figure they happened to see at some specific moment, maybe while driving with strong winds behind. However, if you are cruising at 55mph you may see some decent figures. It's all a matter of speed. Cruise at 40mph and you'll get 60mpg.
If you two kids its ok
Maggie going to to have you sleeping on the couch🥴
Cute cars but they seem a little overpriced.
I wonder if the owner is a Filipina 🥰
Yes they have way better one the fully loaded
U can pump up the seat
The steering is deferent for me to
Your channel is loosing me. Stick with motorcycles.....
Hyun-de . De- like lions de'n. (to be fair, they really shouldn't have spelled it Dai. It literally looks like die. But its pronounced Deh.
