SMU was almost another shock…that game was nuts with everything they could go wrong going wrong and some like that kid who got ejected for spitting. How on earth they managed to string a few drives together to win is beyond me.
Brent Key is a hell of a coach and this is coming from a Miami fan. He was responsible for finding the flaw in Tyler Van Dyke and how to confuse him by going into zone coverage instead of man. TVD was exposed after that game. He has done an incredible job at GT.
Fix your model. It takes too much stock in the portal. And it doesn't help that the last portal class didn't have the quality of players compared to the two previous years portal classes
Let’s be real here, and no disrespect for Georgia tech . But who didn’t see this coming? Anybody that was paying attention knew Florida st was overrated, neither of those teams are that good both have multiple losses coming there way , but that being said Brent key does have Georgia tech going in the right direction.

GT has been CLAWING their way back to something that resembles a football program for some time now and it’s good to see them playing good ball again…they were missed. Now, FSU nation…we did a whole bit of talking and jawing but we need to stop now and try again next year. 😅
I remember when i saw FSU lose to Jacksonville State 3 years ago, at home, on the last play of the game. I almost blacked out. So losing to Georgia Tech isnt the worst thing. I thought FSU would win by 5 points but the 'Jackets are probably better than everyone thought. I thought they were an 8-4 team. Maybe, FSU will also finish 8-4.
GT OL had 128 starts among them. When I saw that, then my buddy told me GA Tech flew in a day earlier (if true) jet lag is a real thing. That’s when I knew I’m glad I didn’t bet this one
Jordan Travis wasn’t great when he first started playing, and was on the verge of quitting football entirely until Norvell took him under his wing. Plus, Jordan Travis was at FSU for four years under Norvell. Quite different trying to train up a portal QB on his last year that still has issues. On top of never playing a single snap at the program as well.
@@vengeagrippaNorvell can’t develop or recruit. Period. Travis wasn’t a result of Norvell. There is a reason why he relies so heavily from the transfer portal…
I’m a Tech fan but I’m not so sure about this one. I remember watching him (Travis) when we played FSU in 2020, and he was pretty much just a gadget player/wildcat quarterback. Over the next 4 years he really developed into a great pocket passer. Norvell definitely had something to do with that. As a Tech fan I’m a bit surprised the flood gates have opened on Norvell as much as they have. He’s a good coach that just so happened to run into a very underrated team in week 1. I’m confident FSU will improve throughout the year.
I watched the game and it looked to me like Norvell and the assistant coaches didn't have the FSU defense properly prepared for Tech's offensive scheme and physical style of ground-pounding. I was working remote from my computer but still got to watch a good bit of the game and it looked like Tech's offensive line was having it's way with FSU's defensive front. FSU has some issues to try and fix and GA Tech might make some noise in the ACC and possibly beyond this year.
as a Clemson fan let me warn you from falling into the DJU program decline trap. The first step is excusing terrible QB play. "HE isn't that bad," or "he wasn't the problem". Yep you are at step one. Step two is complaining that they do not let him just air it out. Step three is realizing why coaches who know more than you DONT let him air it out as he throws incompletions and interceptions like a kid playing pickup ball. Step 4 is coming to terms with the bust of a QB you have who looks SO good during practice but has the yips week in and week out in games. Step 5 is he moves on and you pick up the pieces while his dad complains about your program.
Funny how I told others before the Game that GA Tech had a great chance of Winning... I have the Receipts. Why could I say that? Because Kirby Smart told us last year about Tech and Brent Key!
Alarming? It’s a professional football match held in Ireland. FSU’s professional players lost to GT’s professional players (after being flown across the Atlantic Ocean on large jet aircraft) in Ireland, in a stadium full of people (many of who flew across that same ocean on equally large jet aircraft) who all got home safely after the game. That’s not alarming. That’s access to excess.
Florida State has personnel issues on offense. Brady White, Joey Magnifico, Damonte Coxie, Antonio Gibson, Tony Pollard, and Darrell Henderson all played on the same Memphis team for Mike Norvell, and they are all to a man better than anyone FSU put on the field.

Tech finally has alignment between the school president, AD and coaches. 25 year season ticket holder and this is the first time that’s been the case. I hope that grows and this is just the beginning of what it can be.
UGA is 80 miles away, that's why GA Tech is not the powerhouse you think they should be
Apparently, people didn't watch the orange bowl.
You probably should watch the video. Bringing up the Orange Bowl is just idiotic trolling.
@@buff21cc Actually no it is not, Why? Because those were the players that are now starting for Florida State! UGA had their players opt out and top players like Bowers, not even play! So it is not Trolling, because outside of some Transfer players with no Congruency, UGA showed this was not a good team... And I said this before the game and can prove it! And people like you told me the Orange Bowl did not mean anything because the players opted out, and I said then as I will say now, but those playing then are now the Starters and guess what happened?
The orange bowl has nothing to do with this game.
@@dublindog8038 clearly you didn't watch and are just running your mouth.
@@darthkso3745it does tho
Everything issue we saw with Florida State Saturday is fixable. All they gotta do is put in the effort.
The Intel about FSU's running game and defensive line came from Norvell in his own press conferences.
You couldn’t even name 5 GT players man. You didn’t even give us a chance
Reminds me of all the hype before week one last year with LSU - misled by ‘yes-men’ media - they were more comprehensively beaten than FSU was this year.
Tech’s O-line shredded FSU’s vaunted D-Line.
Big slice of humble pie. I hope this makes the team wake up and do better. Tech always seem to have our number. Good thing is it’s the first game of the season, 11 to go. Back to work. Go Noles
Let's not be surprised by Georgia Tech beating Florida State. Georgia Tech has beaten Florida State three times in the last four meetings. I can't wait for the excuses after Georgia Tech beats Florida State next time they meet
They do say that in college football, the biggest improvement you make is between your first and your second game.
Florida State needs to improve their O-line and front seven quite a bit before game 2. And Norvell needs to design a game plan that lets DJ throw the ball more than 2 yards downfield.
JAMAL Haynes, not justice haynes
I said Georgia Tech was gonna win this game!! They are good!! They will be undefeated when they go to UNC
Wasn’t your channel one that was blowing them up?
Agreed 👍🏾
No mine is the one that didn't pick them to win the ACC. Thanks! - JP
Aren't you the one with a life that sucks ass? Yeah I remember that about you now.
@@JoshPateCFB Don't be a pussy Josh.
I remember last year when Miami had arrived after beating A&M
I’m astonished I’ve not seen anybody mention this yet but drive summaries like this are gonna become the new normal with the new out of bounds rule
FSU will win 9 games maybe 10 games but that shouldn’t be considered a bad season
I wasn’t hood winked. Not shocked by GT. They were the more physical team. You could see their potential last season. They’re going to surprise some teams this year. Look out Notre Lame.
Comes down to heart . FSU got their butts handed to them. They didn’t get schemed they got out manned
When are we going to acknowledge Mike Norvell isn’t a good coach, and Florida st isn’t a a great program
no need to acknowledge whats not true
Only people that don’t think FSU is a great program are SEC fans
3 National Championships though
@@philcasesa8626 they were good for a 20 year span, and have sucked since.
It was a football game guys. Both teams played well. Georgia Tech just made more plays.
Who is Justice Haynes (in the graphic)? It's Jamal Haynes. Geez...
Justice Haynes is a Bama guy. Sounds like some confusion on the names. I think both are running backs too judging by the graphic.
I really enjoyed the fsu loss. Shakes things up already in the acc. fsu is still nursing a hangover from last season
I actually found myself cheering for Georgia Tech at the end of the game .
@@eaglerider1826 Im a UGA fan and I cheered for GT the entire game
@@litedawgI’m a Florida fan and I cheered for GT the entire game. FSU genuinely looked like dogshit. If they really are this bad the entire season even we can beat them 😂😂
@@djLagwayEnjoyerYou have your own problems, Gator. I'd stay quiet for a while if I were you.
@@tomwhite3271 no one on Florida cried for months about being left out of the playoff did they? None of our fans talked a bunch of shit saying we were running the table and 100% making the playoffs? Our media and outlets didn’t gaslight our fanbase into believing that we were as good/better than last years team like yours did they? You were sold a lie by watchant, bud Elliot, TJ Pittinger, and so on. But that’s ok
I couldn’t be happier with the outcome of this game. Most would have picked FSU to win based on track record. Even though I didn’t want FSU to win, I didn’t give Tech much of a chance to win and figured FSU’s losses would come later ton the season.
You just know Brent Key was absolutely giddy watching his O line throughout that game. That was about as close as you can get to the perfect game in the eyes of an OL coach.
I remember when we talked about winners first on this channel
The new Norm ain't the same as the old Norm
!!!
The state of Georgia OWNS FSU 😅 Last 2 losses from the state of Jawja ☝️
I remember the state of GA being mediocre as hell from the mid 1980's to 2018. You must be like 5 days old. Your life sucks, lol
SMU was almost another shock…that game was nuts with everything they could go wrong going wrong and some like that kid who got ejected for spitting. How on earth they managed to string a few drives together to win is beyond me.
Nevada being Nevada is how smu won that game
Interesting. This happened last year to the ACC favorite ranked in the top 15 gets beat by a unranked team as a double-digit favorite..
As a Georgia fan I've never been more conflicted about a football game lol
Same here, but the FSU fans made it an easy decision by running their mouths.
I feel ya but as mentioned by others, FSU fans make it easy to pick GT….
I remember GA being mediocre as hell from the mid 1980's to 2018. That's a whole lot of sucking. lol
Model is fine, and no it doesn't.
Let’s be real here, and no disrespect for Georgia tech . But who didn’t see this coming? Anybody that was paying attention knew Florida st was overrated, neither of those teams are that good both have multiple losses coming there way , but that being said Brent key does have Georgia tech going in the right direction.
As a FSU fan while I much rather them not to lose at all if they’re gonna lose it’s better to lose early than late. This needs to be a major wake up call for our guys to get their shit together and not let it happen again
I heard that FSU is suing GT for not leaving the ACC.
Another thing about GT, there's recruiting class for where they usually are way better than usual. Even has a 5 star commitment
I think Ga tech this year is just that good!
I love Florida State I have my entire life but dang it they can rip your heart out at times D.J looked like well D.J and if that's what we get out of him I totally feel like 8 wins maybe 9 is the best we can do I was nervous at the beginning of the season with playing possible trap games against SMU and Memphis i kinda feel like now we could drop both of those games
"The rents due every day" I love this
Late Kick with Josh Pate, nice video keep up the great content
GT has been CLAWING their way back to something that resembles a football program for some time now and it’s good to see them playing good ball again…they were missed. Now, FSU nation…we did a whole bit of talking and jawing but we need to stop now and try again next year. 😅
So Josh, are the Florida feather featherheads still making the playoffs??? Haha
Your life sucks, lol
I remember when i saw FSU lose to Jacksonville State 3 years ago, at home, on the last play of the game. I almost blacked out. So losing to Georgia Tech isnt the worst thing. I thought FSU would win by 5 points but the 'Jackets are probably better than everyone thought. I thought they were an 8-4 team. Maybe, FSU will also finish 8-4.
I’m old enough to remember the days when Josh really spent time talking about the winner first.
FSU went to Dublin to have a good time, Tech went to Dublin to play football.
Shocker! Not really, first games of the year are always a toss up! Look at SMU against the Wolf Pack…Football time, baby!! 👊🏻🏈
GT OL had 128 starts among them. When I saw that, then my buddy told me GA Tech flew in a day earlier (if true) jet lag is a real thing. That’s when I knew I’m glad I didn’t bet this one
Jordan Travis is to Norvell what Jameis was to Jimbo. A great QB that got a subpar coach PAID
@@CM-zl8iugo watch jordan travis’ first few games with Norvell and tell me he wasn’t developed 😭
JOSH you broke your rule of talking about the winner first.
Nobody:
Josh Pate: “CLEMZEN”
This was the same team that got beat 63-3 in the bowl game last year, right?
fwiw Georgia Tech also just picked up a 5 star OT last week. buy stock now
Nailed it: DJ U is exactly who he has always been. Not bad, not great.
Bring back stopping the clock when a player goes out of bounds and gets a first down
0:41 its not JUSTICE Haynes 91 Total yards.................it's Jamal Haynes!!!!
He’s in the clicks and views business, not the getting it right business
Funny how I told others before the Game that GA Tech had a great chance of Winning... I have the Receipts. Why could I say that? Because Kirby Smart told us last year about Tech and Brent Key!
Remember when Nick Saban said don't eat the rat poison this is what he was talking about FSU went to an all u could eat buffet of it 😂
LOVE Greg Maddox
The other side of this.. people still treating DJ U like he is a 5*.. but he IS who he has shown at previous stops.. and that is a low 4* high 3*.
And people had to the nerve to say the new college football video game isn’t “realistic” or “authentic”.
It isnt i could do a season in five different attempts all other results besides my own will change. Including who makes the playoffs
NCAA is horribly inaccurate, no reason there should be 3 FCS schools in the top 15. THE simulation system in that game is horrible.
GT played great fundamental football. They blocked and tackled well and were just tougher.
The fact they brought DJ in tells you all u need to know…what football games have they been watching? Tigers? Beavers? Apparently not…😂
