There are no effects on the song. This room at Brentwood is large and has natural reverb. Adele has said that this is the same room where she wrote When We Were Young with Tobias Jesso Jr. who also co-wrote To Be Loved, he is the one playing the piano in this video. Adele made similar comment about the room’s reverb 6 years ago! This is the first vocal of the song and was meant to be used for Album but she had no studio equipments, so everything you see is being recorded on her laptop but couldn’t use it as her voice peaked at the end and the mic wasn’t able to take it. She later came back to this room with studio equipments and lots of duvets and pillows to soak up the sound and recorded the vocal for for the Album in one take! The album version is the third time she ever sang the song and could possibly be the last time as she said she may not do it live.

This video was actually filmed in a room in her house. But she did write and formulate the song at Brentwood. This video was filmed so that she could get a handle on the vocals. But you are write about the origin of the song.

@@benjaminjackson9449 That’s not true. In the Zane Lowe’s interview Adele has said that she sang the song in its entirety 3 times only.
The first time was when she wrote it at Tobias’s grandparents house in Brentwood and recorded it using her laptop. This is the video.
The second time was at Henson studio but she wasn’t feeling it so she decided not to use it for the album.
The third and final time was back with Tobias in the same room at Brentwood with proper studio equipments. This is the album version.

@@omaraljuboori3431 Yeah, she said in an interview that she NEVER re-records her vocals. "Never, ever." She says the song loses emotion if you sing it over and over, so she uses her demo vocals for her albums. She goes to the studio when she's in the right frame of mind and really feeling the emotions and records her songs in one take. Obviously there are exceptions, like this one because of the audio situation. But I don't know ANY other artist who uses their demo vocals/first run for their album on every song. That's why her albums are always so raw and hit so hard emotionally. That's one of the reasons she's so special and sells so many albums. She's one of a kind, especially now in the age of artists recording songs a million times to try to get "perfection." For Adele, emotional honesty is the most important thing when recording songs for her albums.

There are no effects on her voice, no reverb, no echo, no nothing. It's recorded in Brentwood studios, it's a massive room where the song was written. A couch isn't enough to soak up the acoustics of her voice in a massive otherwise empty room.

Exactly. It's simply a recording from a Macbook straight from the photobooth lol.

  • @JustDoItDonio

I’m fairly certain this doesn’t actually have any effects on it but it’s because of the room it’s in…may not be empty but the way it’s built was made for this “effect” you’re talking about

I'm thinking a Cathedral ceiling, and maybe marble floors.
A digitally produced echo wouldn't have those volume changes.

Adele’s on another level just love ler

  • @Wiley_Coyote
    @Wiley_Coyote 2 года назад +13

Marble floors would create that echo. Also, that could be a Cathedral ceiling.
Also, microphone positioning. She's sitting whatever the mike is on (probably an iPhone) surrounded by echoey surfaces. Maybe a low glass table over that theoretically marble floor. Not intentionally. She's not an audio engineer.
And a digitally produced echo wouldn't have those big volume changes we're hearing.

The ending is fkng amazing, she just destroyed that poor mic. and she's just like...There were a couple of notes... 😲😲😲😲🥰🥰🥰🥰🥰🥰😭😭😭😭

I dont think their are effects on her voice. I think the room really does just echo. I also am pretty sure the room she is in has a marble floor which would explain how echoey it is

Hi Audrey! I love your videos, they're so useful for aspiring singers! I wanted to ask if you could react to Encanto's songs ("We don't talk about Bruno" being the most popular and a masterpiece, in my humble opinion)! Also, maybe comparing both the English and LATAM Spanish versions? Thank you!!! :)

Furniture in a room won't stop reverb/echo. If it were that easy sound canceling foam would not be a thing. Flat walls is all you need. That room has flat walls, and an angled ceiling ceiling. About as raw as it gets. Anything on the walls of that room in this video is flat. She is probably sitting in a specific spot in the room, because she knows where the sound is best. If not, why wouldn't she be next to the piano. The audio is setup to catch the sound correctly. She is sitting on a couch singing. Not standing properly, or on a stool. In fact it looks like one leg is bent like her foot is on the couch like half indian style.

Lol Nope on the effects. Have you not been in a big room like this before? You can have some furniture and still get this effect. Tall ceilings and not a ton on the walls. You will get echo with high ceilings. I live in California and we have a lot of homes in this style. Very much have echo without being empty.
