You said that Bentley has an interest in anything automotive and anything farming, but I think that really means he has an interest in anything his dad does cause he loves his dad so much. You guys are very lucky to have each other.
How about being on a 7 mph tractor raking! I lived my youth at 3.2 mph dragging a chisel for a mile before turning around in ND. Running that rake was like being a racecar for Bentley.
I have a cool story. My Grandad passed in 99 and the family sold his equipment. 15 years later my brother bought a Baler at an auction, and went to get it and thought things about it looked familiar. So he took a picture of the serial number and went to the local JD dealership, and was able to prove that it was the one bought by my Grandfather. I grew up on my Grandad's farm and was driving tractors by age 7 and was actually good at it by age 10. I have to say that those days cutting, raking, baling, or bush hogging were some of the best times in my life. Hours in a tractor seat alone is great relaxation. Maybe not for everyone, but I found it enjoyable.
Love the fact that Bentley is so involved in the everyday workings of the Lodge and VGG. Nice to see you using the equipment that you've picked up at the different sales, etc. Before Derek knows it Bentley will be doing it all at the farm! Good family video!
I cut thousands of acres, raked thousands of acres, bailed thousands of bails, and stacked thousands of hay bails. I did it all with my dad. I miss him so much, and it's even more evident when I watch you and your son. I didn't realize then that I was learning so much about work, life, and being a good person. Please keep up these great videos. Thank you.
My dad always used to say, "Someday they're gonna outlaw those round bales ya know." Me: "Why's that dad?"Dad: "Animal cruelty " Me: "Huh?" Dad: "The animals are deprived of a good SQUARE MEAL." Joking aside, it's great that nearly every video with you & Bentley or Bradley has me reflecting on times I got to spend with my dad. Great job, Derek, and thank you. 🙂
Derek, as much as I love your car-related content, I have to say... you and your family are the salt-of-the-earth Americans whose ancestors helped to produce the products that grew this nation into what is is now... and I love learning about what that took, and what it still takes... to do that very thing. Half of the population of this country has little knowledge of what it takes to achieve this. I am in awe of this... and love learning how it's done. Your knowledge of working the land is important to pass on to future generations, who would otherwise be lost without this knowledge. Much of the peoples of this great nation do not realize the importance of this.
Thanks Derek, for giving us what we asked for! It’s great to see vintage American equipment still out in the field working! Seeing the next generation out there using it with you, makes it even better.
This reminds me of when I was a kid from about 9 - 12 years old. There were 3 Mennonite families in our community (Hephzibah, GA) and they all had kids my age. I used to go from farm to farm helping in the fields, cutting silage, baling hay & filling up the silo. They were all dairy farmers and I used to help 'em milk in the evenings. What a great time I had as a kid working around dairy farms. I certainly cherish those fond memories. My mother was a Mennonite but we grew up as Southern Baptists. Cheers from eastern TN
i grew up in N.W. Iowa working summers behind a square baler. farmers would cut it in the morning, rake it in the afternoon, again the next morning, then bale it and put it in the barn that afternoon. usually got 2 good cuttings a year. i usually made movie and pizza money for most of the school year putting up hay. good times.
@cannon3267 I'm from nw Iowa also. We would cut, rake, and bale all the same day until we had 5-6 flat racks. Usually 2 got put up in the barn the same day too. Tough work but very rewarding.
It will help you to rake two windrows together. I've always thought that mower conditioners produce a better hay quality. It is good to see you spending time at home, don't let your schedule over take the time with family. Time is the one thing you cannot replace. AS A FATHER IT IS A BLESSING TO SEE YOU TEACH YOUR BOYS TO WORK FOR WHAT THEY NEED AND WANT,YOUR AN AWESOME DAD!
A guy sure must be proud of that fine young human you are responsible for. It's a pleasure to see you guys working on whatever. Young feller taking after his dad. Makes America great that does
You can’t hardly get an old ford to stop leaking fuel. She’s just lettin yah know she’s still got some in her. I’ve been watching yah for the past couple days and I absolutely love the content. Keep it up brother and God bless
You are fortunate to have Bentley as your son. Bentley is fortunate to have you as his Dad. Keep doing what you are doing. I enjoy all your channels and videos. I especially enjoy the ones with you and Bentley in them.
Its like if Bob Ross hosted an episode of How Its Made. So interesting to see how its done and calming watching and listening to you do it. I had a major back surgery monday, so anything to help me ignore the pain.
I've done a lot of this,, and by age 10 they had me running Grandpa's combine on my own. I can tell you this,, when you bail 60- 80- 100 lb. Square bails unloading and stacking in a barn you end up with some very big forearms. 1500 bails a day was a good day back then. Awesome job Bentley!! Be safe. 🙏
I love the work ethic that you're instilling in your boys. There's nothing like leading by example to show them that sometimes you just have to keep going to get a job done , no matter how late it is, how tired you are or what the weather is like! Well done, Dad!
I may ask 10 farmers how they do cutting/raking/bailing but i'm going with the 11th guy I ask in Tenn. Only thing he said was "do it with yer son". I'm doing it THAT way! Great video. Thanks, my friend.
Bentley may think he's just bailing hay, or whatever he may be doing with dear ol Dad. But, as I'm sure you know Derek, he's making memories. This is something he'll never forget. He's quite a young man. You and Jessica have every right to be proud. 👍❤️😁
I grew up farming. I remember when I discovered that the neighbor farmers would actually 'pay' you to put up hay! (Small bales) But i couldn't wait to get away from the farm. Now, at 63 yrs old, i miss it. That was pretty good looking hay, and Bentley does real good on the tractor.
I'm always amazed at just how much technology and mechanical engineering goes into farm implements and machinery! These manufacturers must have huge engineering divisions!
Practice will make your bailes better. Spend more time on the side of the windrows. Also, if you reduce your speed over ground, while keeping PTO/RPM will yeild a more dense baile( more pounds/calories per baile for livestock feeders). Love what you do my Friend❤😊 Kudos to Bradley as well, a fine young Gentleman.
Born a city boy was able to go to a high school that had a agriculture department teaching gardening, farming, and animal husbandry. Did a garden, some plowing with a new Ford 300 tractor at the time, cleaned out many animal pens. Had a interest in farming due to mother being raised on a farm in Kansas until they moved to California. Father is a city boy from San Diego California. He enjoyed taking care of his fruit trees, so he did have a green thumb. I still enjoy seeing the country and farm life. And have an appreciation of its hard work.
Watching Bentley work with Derek reminds me of always helping my dad when I was a kid. Those are some of my most cherished memories. Thank you for reminding me of them.
You are absolutely my favorite to watch on RUclips. From the garage to the lodge, watching you and Bentley bring back so many memories of my father and I, the memories you are giving Bentley will last him a lifetime. Thank you so much not only for your service to our country but for your service to family values. Keep up this kind of content. You are absolutely a god send and an inspiration for what a great father, husband all men should be.
Born and raised a farm kid in Eastern Iowa. I miss everything about making hay except putting small square bales in the barn. Some how it was always the hottest day of the year. Watching you cut, rake, and bale brings back a lot of memories. Love the drone footage of you guys working.
I miss your funny names for things with the junk cars. Your unique terms and sarcastic humor with all the challenges and issues with junkers really cracks me up. You are all business with the farm videos. Either way thanks for the great videos.
The beauty of that older, smaller equipment, is that not only is it a great way for a small hold farmer get started; but it is great starter equipment for the youngsters. Soon as kids in our community could stomp the break peddles and armstrong steer, they were tedding hay and driving the hay wagon with the little ol Fords, Case or Farmalls. (There was only small square bales then.) Our two youngest used to tandem drive the old pickup as our bale getter. The youngest (6) sat on the driver's side and worked the peddles, and her 9 yr old sister steered, shifted and hollered as to which peddle to push😀 Farm kids are smart kids! Good on you getting them onto the land.
This reminds me of my youth on my grandpa's farm. I was around 11 driving a tractor just like that. Back in the day we would work all day bailing and picking up the bales and stacking them in the barn. At the end of each day grandma would have a big meal and all the workers would eat a big feast. Every farmer ended the day the same. My grandparents never had running water in the house. I am 63 and have fond memories of working on the farm.
I gotta say watching you and Bentley out there reminds me of when I was a kid helping my grandpa out getting hay and gardening... My grandpa had that exact tractor and spreader except we had an old hay truck and grand kid power n he kept his hay loose in the top of the barn... Seeing that tractor out still working brings several tears to my eyes .. I miss my grandpa so much... He passed in 93... People just don't do this work as a family much anymore n that's ashame... So good to see you n yours out there working together... God bless you
Kid loves his dad and reminds me of when I was growing up. Whatever dad did was like magic and I couldn't get enough of it. Be it automotive or farming or watching him building something from nothing out of wood. Your a legend Derek and the country needs more of guys like you and your family to. My two boys ages 4 and 2 watch you and little grip religiously between you and junkyard digs and puddins fab shop we can't get enough. I just guess I need to start my channel already.
Bentley has grown so much. The first video I saw of VGG was when Derek and Bentley rescued The cow rub Ford pickup. He looked like a little boy then but is now a big kid knocking on teenage years door.
Thanks Derek... I would not trade my days on my uncles' farm. I was about 11-12 years old and cultivated cotton, learned to stick weld, milk, eat and pray. It made a much better man out of me.
Like everyone said I think Bentley just loves being around Dad. Which is awesome! He's a good kid, I can tell by the way he acts in his videos and around you. Very smart as well, and a very good problem solver. Look how fast he picked up welding, it takes some people their whole life and they still cannot weld worth a crud. As a father I would be proud and honored if they took after me. This is why I watch Little Grip Garage and Vice Grip Garage every week and Vice grip lodge when you release it, everything is just authentic and a learning moment. Please never ever ever change who you are and be true to yourself because that is what keeps all of us coming back and wanting to see more. Seriously thank you for sharing bits of your life with us, same with Bentley, and thank you to Jessica for working so hard behind the scenes too keep the ball rolling. It gives me something to look forward to and puts a smile on my face.
My dad bought nr an 8N Ford for my tenth birthday, gave me ten minutes of instruction and I was a farmer. It was a great learning tractor I learned to overall most of it New fords were blue and gray so I figured out how to paint. looked pretty good second or third try. Things were a little simpler sixty-five years ago but old Fords are still teaching kids.
Gotta love the bonus Vice Grip Lodge video on July 4th weekend. This brings back memories of growing up on the farm in Iowa although I was always helping with small square bales. Really love the father and son together time!
A guy and a little guy with the guy teaching a little guy stands for a great time together it’s real good times we need more of this in today’s crazy mixed up world thanks for sharing with us well done 👍👋🇨🇦
Some of my best and worst memories are baleing hay. I learned to drive a 3 on the tree pulling a trailer when I was 10. I also spent many days "beating" the rain throwing and stacking square bales. Kids these days missed all of that.
Square bales are no joke loading wagons off loading on to a conveyor stacking up aloft and when the work is done it's party time.Barn dance BBQ and beer kegs. Some of the best times of my youth.
We had to help my grandpa's neighbor one time picking up square bales, I wore shorts to the farm that day not expecting to be messing with square bales. My legs didn't stop itching for a week.
And regardless it was always 95 degree's and humid. Derek needs to find a small square bailer just so the kids get to experience throwing and stacking in 90 degree weather all the while wearing a long sleeve canvas shirt. Finding snakes in the bails was always fun. Uncle refused to upgrade his old wisconson machine so one bail would be 45 pounds and the next 100. Took 2 of us to get them on the truck.
You make a fella wanna pick up his name plate, coffee cup and lunch outa the break room fridge and head to the country to find a piece of Gods Green. Make a new start of it is what Im tryin to say. Never change Derek, you are a much needed ray of light in a often dim confusing world.
I wish i could like this video a thousand times. Brings so many memories back of me an my grandfather. Hes lone gone home now. But i swear i see him in the field watching me an my sons
It's super awesome to see a son and his father hanging out and loving the same things as someone who grew up without a father it warms my heart to see this
I'd love to be a little spider in the corner of the inside the cab. so, I could hear what you too are talking about. so cool watching you to working together. and how well little grips channel is growing. may God bless you and the whole family 😎
Love watching these videos! So educational and fun. Especially like the bond you have with your son Bentley, and the entire family. This is what this country needs more of! Thank you for sharing this with all of us!
Bentley has grown so much in the last few years of watching this channel. He Went from being a little munchkin Derek probably brought along cause some one had to watch him hence the “littlest human I’m responsible for”, to now it’s “Bentley has come over to help me out and run the tractor” or “weld a frame” or just be a second pair of wrenching hands. Bentley has gained a ton of skill and knowledge in such a short time. You get that kid into engineering and he’s be on a race car team in no time
Never did any round bales the old square bales. Spent many a summer days frying in the Michigan sun. Miss those days. Love seeing Bentley so into farming. Need more of that
Love the videos like this, I haven't been able to do any farming since joining the Navy 16 years ago, so its nice to be able to get some nostalgia going while I'm away from home. thanks for what you do Derek!
Once again, thanks for the offer and fulfillment! If’n I hadn’t come across your channels, I may have never looked to find out about farmers. This city feller is lernin and lovin it!
Great job. I'm favoured, $50K every week! I can now give back to the locals in my communitv and also support God's work and the church.God bless America
This is coming from a born and raised city boy, I love watching these videos cause I never knew how all this was done. the more you put out on farming the more ill watch!
Bentley may love automotive and agricultural stuff but he loves being with his father more than anything.
Truth. None of that time together will be forgotten.
That's the truth, I am 59 finishing up a 67 GTO and my 83 year old father came over today to help out. I still love hanging out with my dad.
@@jdskibum313 my dad passed yrs ago an im now 60 so treasure that always
I can relate. Lost my dad. He was 61...still long for these times again
100% agree. My 5 year old is always helping me work on stuff. To the point he had to spend his birthday money on his own tool kit
You said that Bentley has an interest in anything automotive and anything farming, but I think that really means he has an interest in anything his dad does cause he loves his dad so much. You guys are very lucky to have each other.
A very high percentage of people never get to experience the feeling of harvesting. Thank you so much ❤
How about being on a 7 mph tractor raking! I lived my youth at 3.2 mph dragging a chisel for a mile before turning around in ND. Running that rake was like being a racecar for Bentley.
And they'd be lucky as long as it's not 100 degrees out And then it's okay And can actually be fun If you like to work
yeah, the joy of 100 degree days in the sun raking hay in a field full of angry bees.
Bailey is chip off the ol' block through and through.
You need a tedder!
@@althomas6496 I think you meant to post this as a comment instead of a reply to my comment.

That boy is going to live the life as long as he stays straight and true.
If every kid spent time in the fields with his dad this world would be a ton better place. Honest hard work builds character.

Fun video to watch. What a difference it is from Raodworthy garage. Your son is a hard-working young man. Great job raising him dad. 👍
DITTO!!
Hello from Moosomin, Saskatchewan, Canada great videos thanks for sharing with all of us 😊
I wish i could like this video a thousand times. Brings so many memories back of me an my grandfather. Hes lone gone home now. But i swear i see him in the field watching me an my sons
I love being on a tractor and this looks so fun! Only bush hogged a couple of times on my wife’s dad’s really old AC, loved it!!
My son is a hay farmer, which is a subject I know nothing about. I love these videos because it helps me learn about his livelihood. Thank you sir.
Thank you for sharing. Brings back memories. 👍
It's super awesome to see a son and his father hanging out and loving the same things as someone who grew up without a father it warms my heart to see this
could watch this alllllll day
I'd love to be a little spider in the corner of the inside the cab. so, I could hear what you too are talking about. so cool watching you to working together. and how well little grips channel is growing. may God bless you and the whole family 😎
Just when I thought Derek was so cool by watching his other channel he starts all this. Great work fella
Dad & Son make a pretty good team! A real pleasure to watch! Thank you!👍
A man in his happy place. Definitely a great place and a great way to raise your kids.
Love watching these videos! So educational and fun. Especially like the bond you have with your son Bentley, and the entire family. This is what this country needs more of! Thank you for sharing this with all of us!
Vise Grip Farms "Premium Hay Way too much. Perfect"
This channel has illustrated just how much hard work and, more importantly, intelligence it takes to be an effective farmer.
Nothing makes you feel more alive than baling square bales and stacking them in the loft...and THEN taking that "after work shower".
I’m envious Dereck. You bailing your field brings back memories of me and grandpa in his fields. Thanks a bunch!
I love these videos with Bentley and that old 8N. Reminds me of my youth in the farm working with my Dad. Great stuff!!!😊
Nice drone footage!🚁 Did your boys help with that? Looks great👍
Bentley has grown so much in the last few years of watching this channel. You get that kid into engineering and he’s be on a race car team in no time
He's going to be a good man when he grows up
The new garage doors look awesome from the outside. I don’t think I’d noticed them yet. I love the variety of content betwicts the programs
Never did any round bales the old square bales. Spent many a summer days frying in the Michigan sun. Miss those days. Love seeing Bentley so into farming. Need more of that
DITTO FROM NC!!
YEP…south central PA here.
Love the videos like this, I haven't been able to do any farming since joining the Navy 16 years ago, so its nice to be able to get some nostalgia going while I'm away from home. thanks for what you do Derek!
YEESSSSS ❤ Bailing time 🍻😁
It always awesome to see the older tractors and implements brought back to life and do just as good as the newer equipment
Mint
I don’t know a single thing about farm work but sometimes a guy just likes to watch another guy because he’s funny 😂
What do we call a 20 year old machine on the Farm? ans. the new one :)
Looks like you have some great tree stand locations there! A father sons hunt video would be cool on this channel!
always wondered how you made them Vegan Marshmallows.......
Once again, thanks for the offer and fulfillment!
If’n I hadn’t come across your channels, I may have never looked to find out about farmers.

A lot of people still make massive profit from the crypto market, all you really need is a relevant information and some professional advice.
Thanks to

No I don't trade on my own anymore, I always required help and assistance
This is coming from a born and raised city boy, I love watching these videos cause I never knew how all this was done. the more you put out on farming the more ill watch!
Rather than selling your hay you might want to barter it for a side of beef. You need some free range chickens in your yard.
Great video! Love seeing Bentley working with Dad!
