Hand stacked bales at my uncles dairy farm many a summer. I'm pushing 70, and still have great shoulders! LOL! I remember back in the day, the football coaches, would say about us farm boys, during conditioning "Don't worry about them, their farm strong!"
I’m 73 and we always bucked bales, good workout for the young.Used to see who could stake the highest.I usually won cause I was the tallest. Was fun back then!!! Tks for the video.
Nothing like a NH baler and thrower! I used to stack behind them, first was a 1960's 281, and then an '80's 326. The old one, I could keep up with, but the newer one would cover me up in good hay. Then I had to unload the wagons... Didn't need a gym for a workout! 😂👍👍
Best workout and sense of accomplishment on the farm. Nothing gives better piece of mind than a barn full of small squares. Especially in the dead of winter.
I’m 68 I used to be on a farm back 60’s and 70’s. I can remember, it was always hot and humid. Then who was going to be on the wagon and who was going to be in the barn? I miss those days. Now I live in a condo. Like they say. You take the boy out of the country, but you can’t take the country out of the boy!
t-rex, I am 75 and making hay in the 50's & 60's was hard work. Yes indeed, many memories. We had a Farmall M and IH baler (self propelled was very rare, v4 engine was a beast) no thrower. Aaron knows what he is doing.

Holy moly! Suddenly it's 1956 middle of Iowa hotter than the hubs of hell and NO breeze. Riding the hay rack trying to stand up as the bales slowly came up the shute. Used wire in those days always handy to fix stuff with. 50 cents per hour end of day fore arms raw from the stickers. Keeping balance used 2 years later in Navy. Good times.
This year sure has been a discouraging year for hay. I only managed to get a couple of loads baled. I lost over half of first cutting to rain that was not in the forecast until it showed up on radar. What's left to cut will feed out like cardboard with no chance of a third cutting. Yesterday we go 4 inches of rain. Next chance of clear weather is a week away.
One thing about farming is every year is different. Nice looking hay even though it's a little bit late making it. Nice equipment. Y'all are good farmers. I enjoy watching the videos. Makes me miss my 575 with the thrower and eztrail wagons. I'm just round baling now. Thanks again for sharing the video.
Yeah, I switch baling that always happens to me when it switches ball "knotting on the knot" we always say. I like stacking that first cutting hay. It's more like block and less like marshmallows. Much bigger windows for a lot of us compared to last year for sure.
When the bust bale came out you said the very same thing as I was thinking. Change of ball. We always had New Holland balers. They were good balers. Great video. All the best 🇬🇧.
I'm 76 and still square ballin, albeit only for a horse. BUT no kicker! Nothing so satisfying as seeing a full load of bales. Wait! They are not in the barn yet. Thanks, enjoyed the video.
We have the same baler. Model older. Let that thing eat. High capacity. It's pulling hay in. Instead of getting feed in. Makes a nice bale when they have enough hay. Have a good one guys
Corn looks great! you're wacking them out pretty good! we use to set a goal in the morning, like, OK, guys, we're going to do a thousand bales today, everybody be careful, but work fast! JD 620 and a new holland baler! run the wagons with the JD 530!
Excellent video. I really enjoyed watching. We did the very same thing on our farm many years ago. This brought back a ton of memories. Thanks for sharing. Take care and God Bless.
Great video George that is a very good bailer I had a 273 hayliner it never missed a knot unless it was switching balls of twine.we would stack kick bale wagons with a hundred and thirty five to a load
Great video! Spend many hours riding tractor raking hay then unloading wagons onto elevator. Nothing smells better than freshly baled hay. Unloaded wagons till it was time to bring cows in for milking. Keep up the great work! P.S. Hoping to get to go visit farm that I spent many summers at. Still going after all these years!
Nothing better than a baling video. Still make some little bales but not as many as we did 5 years ago. Would love to start making more again. Great vide
Man, I broke out in a sweat watching this video. My father built two hay wagons in the mid 70’s after looking at the metal racks at a neighbor farm progress show. They were pretty big for our operation, Our neighbor down the road bought the wagons at our farm machinery auction in 2001 a just recently dad made some repairs in the back that had blown out. Had the lumber to repair.
We had a few flat wagons that I could stack 175 on, and some commercial 8X18's that would hold 225, but my favorite was a 9X18 that I could stack 300 on, and still get in the shed. Those were some good days, but I don't want to do it now! 😂
nice to see you got a break in the weather to get some hay done , have we seen that field before , i been watching for a long time but not seeing the road may be the reason I don't recognize it , lets hope the weather turns now to get some more done
Hello all from Azerbaijan Gusar region. I have tractor Lovol 90hp and bailing machine Kirgizistan 30 years old))) I love this work ❤❤❤ 400 500 bailing in a day norm for me❤❤❤
We used a Heston stacker 3 tons n wire, no twine all loose almost always worked at night, the swather ran in the daylight, heaviest thing I picked up was a hydraulic leaver
Yeah, we got about 6000 pills off of 45 acres on first crop, it is Brom in with the alfalfa, after that, we got 3000 bales on the second crop and 2000 bales on the third crop. Open central, Minnesota, Lowry, Minnesota where the millennial farmer is, if you watched a millennial farmer and always fancy John Deere equipment. His home place is 1 mile from my home place. He makes more money on his RUclips channel then he does actually farming and has over 1 million subscribers. But I like your channel better because it’s pretty much the way we did things when I was growing up, we had a 268 new Holland baler, my brother drove the tractor, and I rode the rack. Our barn was 35 x 60 and it held 5000 bales 16 layers thick in the haymow. We saved a room for second crop on the north end, because we ground a lot of alfalfa to put in with our pig feed for the sows especially. We had turned an old chicken coop into farrowing house using two by fours. Wayfair at nine sales in September and nine sales in November.
Wow you are definately NOT a flat land farmer LOL I've been watching your silage and now baleing videos you really have to watch your center of gravity !!!
HOLY F!!! ive never seen a square baler SHOOT the bales like that!!! i had a new holland square baler that sorta lazyily pushed them out. also im an expert stacker ;)
Wow, baling 24 hours after mowing. I cut with a mower conditioner, ted it a day or two later, wait another 24 hours at least and ted it again, wait another day, rake it and then bale.
The way that baler just meets the bales makes me laugh every time 😂 something about it just tickles the piss outta me

Yeah man been there done that, wish I still could
Best workout and sense of accomplishment on the farm. Nothing gives better piece of mind than a barn full of small squares. Especially in the dead of winter.
I'm 68 and this brings back memories! We used to buck, unload and stack in the barn.
I'm so envious of this, bailed hay when I was a kid, didn't appreciate it then but I do now. I could watch that all say long. Thanks for the video
Geez the stroke speed on those new balers is incredible. I never got to use a good one like that, the newest baler I had was a NH285.

We had a Case 200 baler, hand stacked, 145 bales per wagon and 10,000 bales a year. Thanks for the memories!

Brings back memories. We never used a thrower, the thrower were us kids

Thank you for the video.

Our prayers are with you, brother.

Thanks for explaining this step in making hay. I would have made a pretty good hired man.
I use to have to pick up the bales on the ground and throw the bales on to the trailer... Great exercise...
How cool is that bale maker, but know farming hard work so thank you and all farmers for what you do
We used a Heston stacker 3 tons n wire, no twine all loose almost always worked at night, the swather ran in the daylight, heaviest thing I picked up was a hydraulic leaver
You guys know what your doing, keep up the great work!!💯🎯👍

At 7:00, the machine is really clever and powerful, I will think a lot about this machine.
Had a good 214 but had to know everything about repairing it. When it was on couldn't beat it just like a Deere
The pipe wagon hitch on my NH 570broke off after 20,000 bales on the hills ! ! Lost full wagon 9x16
what a wonderful farm land.
I use to ride on the back side of balers sitting on the container box's that housed the bale string...
Wow you are definately NOT a flat land farmer LOL I've been watching your silage and now baleing videos you really have to watch your center of gravity !!!
You can’t beat New Holland bailers. We ran a 565. That one is a lot faster. You’re running the perfect ground speed. Making her eat. 👍
Really great video. Thank you for sharing and I think that you are an expert at taking videos. Really entertaining!
can,t beat those nh balers i have 76 /77/ 570 the 76 has been in neghbourhood all its life
Always great videos
Wow that bailer is like a Cadillac!! Nice looking hay! What's the weight on your bales?
If you had a John Deere baler and bale thrower, you would feel like an NFL quarterback trying to hit a crossing receiver on those hills you have. 😂
HOLY F!!! ive never seen a square baler SHOOT the bales like that!!! i had a new holland square baler that sorta lazyily pushed them out.
also im an expert stacker ;)
Thanks for the video
Awesome
New Holland, Allis Chalmers, John Deere. Semper fidelis, USMC 🇺🇸.❤.
Thanks
What type of Hay preserver are you using? I see the yellow tank, it must spray the incoming hay before squeeze.
idk why but watching the bales fly out the bailer gives me a chuckle.
LOL, me too!
I remember hay baler like that and now we use the big round balers
Are you in SW WI? It kinda looks like that area. We are located in East Central WI west of Fond du Lac.
Nightmares of being a teenager seeing that first frame. I do miss it though
very good
All of our first crop was pretty late also.
Did small squares late sixtys to mid seventies
Wow, baling 24 hours after mowing. I cut with a mower conditioner, ted it a day or two later, wait another 24 hours at least and ted it again, wait another day, rake it and then bale.
I make round bales about 600 pounds.
How many mph are you bailing
What’s caused you to switch from IH to Deere tractors?
You still have one of the older balers too
Should have put the Ole black stripe on the baler
what kind of grass is that? is this planted or natural grass?
How many bales per acre? Thanks for the video!
Are you guys running the baler right at the 540 pto speed?
How much rpm on PTO you working with ?
👍👍
Jw how come u guys have the tounge of the baler in while ur on the road?
would round bales be more efficient?
I'm 67 and still bale every yr with my.3 times rebuilt 1973 NH 315 wire tie with accumulator....gets harder.as I get older with the heat...
So was the jd 450
It was a little scary to ride on the baler...
No matter what my uncle did , about every 100th bale broke lol
SHOULDNT HAVE BRAGGED ON IT !!
Patooey
