- Has the odometer flipped over? What is the actual mileage on the pickup? We discuss a few items to look for when the mileage may be unknown such as door hinges, pedal wear, trim intact etc. We do indeed find out the actual mileage. You will have to watch the tape to see how I exactly determined it.

You got yourself a fine pice of truck there... I would not mind having it AT my home here... Hej hej from old sweden... 😊
Fords been best selling truck for 50 years . Chevy or dodge together cant compete thats not the gasket bad in that door. The reason its little sloppy is the striker bushings gone.
Very intriguing clues, i must say. 👍 I suppose it depends on how much abuse it went through, some are high mileage and have really bad wear that's irrefutable. And some vehicles can have low mileage and artificial wear that's abuse. My dad's 1979 K5 Blazer was minimal in the wear department when my brother inherited it (he bought it new) but it was suffering from age....doors were hard to shut, the half roof was leaking, the dash pad was cracked, etc.... Despite the fact he babied it from new. ANYWAY....i would say the 142,000 mileage is probably correct. I agree 👍
Yes the age of the veichle also depends on how well it’s been kept. For sure!👌🏼👍🏼
But still like you said, it is I really good shape and those spark plug wires could have been new old stock. I’ll take it any day😁😁👍👍
My truck still had the original date coded wires on it at 230,000 when I bought it 12 years ago, so entirely possible plus I don't think the replacement Motocraft wire sets are date coded. They caused misfires under load like crazy, but they didn't look bad either. The original seat on my truck just started coming apart a little on the driver's side, it looked nearly brand new when I bought the truck. I bought the Marti report for my truck a few years ago and my truck has a lot of options it never left the assembly line with according to the Marti report. I suspect they were dealer add on options installed afterwards. The truck did sit around 11 months before it sold.
Oh interesting! I have heard there was a lot of that dealership addons after it was built. Wow 230K and original wires eh? Wow! Yeah I’m not sure if the wires caused the fire or not. Great to know! 💪🏼
@@SwedeMachine According to the Marti report my truck never came with a clock, the tachometer and trip meter package and a few other small items I can't remember right now. I've had the instrument cluster out and the speedometer has a date of like May 1986, which was 4 months before the truck sold new, so the dealership probably installed the premium cluster if I had to guess. But yeah, those original wires were arch city on a damp day!
@@MattsRageFitGarageAhhh 10-4 on that!🤘🏼
I would hang those wires up on your wall!😂
Well I'm gonna start driving only with the cruise control so my gas pedal wears less. That'll fool the Concours d'Elegance judges!
When I bought my '85 Mercury, it had 988 miles on the odo, original plug wires and plenty of small dings thanks to both previous owners being seniors...
Ahhh I hadn’t thought of that. This did have cruise control so if the pickup had lots of highway driving with the cruise on the pedal wouldn’t be worn out. Shoot never thought of that! Great call!✌🏼
i'm still wondering why or how many people started "The Ranger Danger " scheme " . from what i have seen from google - """Quote"" The Danger Ranger actually got its name from a variety of commenters who expressed their concerns that this pickup was nothing more than a rolling death trap. At the time, it was simply squatted (the rear sits far lower than the front) and fitted with some large spacers.""
Huh. You know I never researched how the “Danger Ranger” name came about. I thought it simply rolled of the tongue nicely lol🤪
Wires could be NOS off the shelf installed in 2007,8,9?
It is technically possible. But to find wires for the correct year? That would be a score for sure🙂
@@SwedeMachine The alternative to NOS is wires that lasted 140k miles. Wow, quality really is Job #1.
11:40 there was another service tag in the glove, what did it say?@swedemachine
Unfortunately it was half chewed on it looks like and the other half has faded out 🫤

At 142k miles does this mean you're going to completely rebuild the engine?
Ahh now you will just have to wait and see on that one😁. Engine will be addressed in a few episodes from now💪🏼✌🏼🙂
Fords of that era doors worked far better than their GM and Dodge counterparts. 👍
Every classic ford we ever had is long been crushed. Every squarebody we've had we still own😅. It's all a matter of perspective.
They all have there ups and downs fo sure lol
Just realized you were only referring to doors. And not saying everything but Ford was junk. Not had my coffee yet. Apologies bro😅
@@user-ho3th4cs7nof course you're going to say that with out being able to proove it. I can say the exact same thing but reverse smh
@@fordnut4914 like I said it's all a matter of perspective. I love old classic fords and chevys and don't like it when anyone just wants to sit and bash someone else based on their preferences. But sadly yes. GM has always brought home the bacon in this family whereas ford always fell short. Was it luck. Probably somewhat, but that's how preferences get started
I am pretty sure she only has 40K... the condition just says that. Dated spark plug wires... the body overall. Not sure what papers you found but I wouldn't trust them. Check the brake drums and those type of things for changes. I don't think the spark plug wire dating would last to the first 100K. Brakes should be somewhat close to first change... look for more documentation from registrations or other sources as well. Should be a breeze mechanically. The melted air cond parts will be a nightmare... have fun... watching
Will do. Thanks for throwing your 2 cents in🙂✌🏼
I think your channel is great! Stop being copy cat!! Check out Diesel Creek and This and that garage! And M539 restotion. Start and finish a project drop triening to beat funny Sweden 😂
Thanks for watching🤘🏼
Probably 142xxx
Agreed
Those wires don't mean shit. My 77 lincoln has its factory wires and belts. It's got 308xxx miles. My 75 f150 also has origional wires, fully origional and complete truck has around 200xxx miles. That yruck has probly 140xxx or more on it
Perhaps not. But it was a fun piece of history to find🙂
@SwedeMachine I apologize if my comment sounded rude. I've been waiting on a root cannel and I've been a little cranky.
@@maj.FrankMBurns Oh man that’s a drag! Sorry to hear that! Hope you get in soon! We all good here boss✌🏼👍🏼🤘🏼
