- In the Season 4 premiere of Burger Scholar Sessions, George Motz celebrates two famous college-town burgers from the Midwest-the Theta Special near the OU campus, and the Duane Purvis near Purdue University. The first one features a special hickory sauce. While the second one is cooked like schnitzel and covered in peanut butter. Yeah he does, he seems like a pretty good friend to have if God forbid you have to hide a body. Would love to meet him in person and share burgers, and what his favorite burger is.
You could make an entire spin off series from this. Imagine college rivalry towns putting their best local burgers up against each other and then have judges vote which one is better. I'm from KS and I know Manhattan(k-state) and Lawrence(KU) both have some amazing burger spots. It'd be cool to see which one other people thought was better.

Was still big when I graduated in 2018. I also use to slam these burgers through college then grab a drink at Harry's

We have a burger chain in Tasmania called Burger Got Soul that does a peanut butter burger but with fried chicken tenders
There's also one there with venison, brie, caramelised onion and boysenberry jam, mayonnaise and lettuce. It's called the Fair Game.

Went to Purdue and loved the peanut butter burger! First time I ordered it I was skeptical but it's so good for absolutely no reason.
I'm glad to see George back in his element. I saw him on The Tonight Show recently and felt like he wasn't given a chance to show off his personality and knowledge.

As a native Oklahoman transplanted to Colorado, I was really craving the theta recently, and I discovered you can order the sauce from Johnnies website. I definitely recommend it over using regular BBQ sauce. It has a very unique texture and flavor that is all savory (not near as sweet as most BBQ sauce) with a little kick!
As a fellow transplanted Edmond/OKC native, I had no idea you could order the sauce. I will be getting some this weekend.
I have to confess, since watching this channel I've both cooked and eaten more burgers. In fact, I'll go one further. The burger has been elevated in my regard, and I'm enjoying them a whole lot more.
With classes starting back up, this show is exactly what I needed

I've had the Duane Purvis. It's fucking fantastic. It's also the single messiest burger I've ever eaten. Peanut oil all over the place.
I ate the Cheesy Western as often as I possibly could while going to college in VA. It would be AWESOME to see it covered on the show!

I LOVE putting Peanut Butter on my burger. I usually do it with bacon, pepperjack cheese, and on a pretzel bun. Its sweet, savory, spicy, and absolutely delicious.

The New Orleans burger chain Bud's Broiler has all the ingredients of the Theta if you order a #6 with no lettuce and tomato and add hickory sauce. Of course, Bud's uses a broiler, not a flat top. Oh nevermind!
