      @Barstool Prophet Hey, just saw this. Ugh, this is hard. I’m a Gen Xer who had bunch of older cousins influencing my musical tastes, so, let’s see... Eagles, Greatest Hits...Thriller, MJ...Purple Rain, Prince...Rumors, Fleetwood Mac...Jagged Little Pill, Alanis Morisette...oh, and I also love country. Bluegrass and southern gospel....so, Alison Krause + Union Station, Live (2002)... Best of the Gaither Vocal Band...Lynyrd Skynrd, Pronounced “Leh- nerd Skin-Erd”, and also Adele, Live at Royal Albert Hall...I guess that makes ten! If I had to live with those ten for the rest of my life, I’d say I’d do alright. How about you, my friend?!?

    • @redstateforever
      @redstateforever 3 года назад +3

      @Barstool ProphetOh, I’m with ya on lots of those. I love Yes, Kansas, Styx, and of course Led Zeppelin. It really is crazy hard to choose just 10. Funny how neither of us picked the Beatles. I like some of their songs, but for whatever reason, I just never got into the whole full on devotion thing. Maybe because they broke up before I was born, idk. If I could add one more it would be Journey, Escape. Don’t stop believing! Lol.

    The 1970s AM and FM radio airwaves were a veritable cornucopia of musical styles and genres and a lot of bands that refused to be pigeonholed.

    You guys are soooo much fun to watch. I'm so glad you have found my favorite genre. I grew up in 70' and 80's. Classic rock was just rock to us.
    Thank you for your genuine yet fun reaction. Subscribing now.....

    I loved ya'lls reaction. I saw this band in , of all places, Amarillo, TX. They had a silkscreen of a giant pipe organ that would light up when their organ played. They sounded as good live, as they do on their recordings. It was a great time to be a teenager.

    It's a blend of prog, pop, classic, metal, orchestral -but each element is in synergy with the others to amplify the final experience into one that leaves listeners spellbound. I know I was when I first heard this when it first came out when I was 15. It's as fresh today as it was then. Music will NEVER let you down, NEVER fail you, NEVER betray you.

    What kind of music is this - Boys, this is Stoner Music from Back in the Day. Imagine your buddy has a cool party van with a raised bed in it and shag carpet everywhere including the walls and 4 home speakers connected to the under dash tape player and you are hangin with the boys in the park where the cops will leave you alone. The doors are closed with the top skylight open for a vent and everyone is hittin the bong and this song from Boston begins to play. Listening to this album in that condition would take your mind for a ride and you just smile during the entire time and all the stresses of the day fade away. Thats what type of music this is !!!

    On the album cover, the ships are guitars. Each one represents the cities leaving Earth as it explodes.

    To me this is an encore song: the concert is over, the band leaves the stage, lights go out; a few seconds later lights go on again and Longplay begins to sound... And the crowd goes nuts!

    For what it's worth, it occurred in the middle of the album but I saw them in 1977 in junior high after this album dropped and oh my God was it a good show. A small to medium-sized Arena and it just sounded so good and everything about it was incredible.
    Something that cracks me up is that your friend there, just superficially and from a distance, just somehow reminds me at a glance of Sib Hashian, who was the drummer. Take a look at one of the album photos and squint your eyes a little bit and see what you think. 😅

    My 1st concert at Washington State University in 1978. Sounded freaking fantastic. They had just finished world tour and were so happy being back home, they played hard for almost 3 hours. We couldn't sleep that night from being hyped up. ❤

    I absolutely love the the way that Ty is just freaking out over this song. I was 16 when it came out and I bought the album for home and the cassette for the car about 2 or 3 days after it came out. I wore the cassette out about 2 times.

    The blending of the two songs are just phenomenal. The two songs are just iconic to the 70's and 80's. The music now, " just doesn't have the same soul" to barrow a line from another iconic song from Billy Joel. Rock On 🤟🤘👊✊. It is amazing how the younger generation are just know listening to Classic Rock Music, and learning to appreciate the music of this era. They really enjoying and experiencing the sounds and meanings behind each and every song. We need more young people listening to more Classic Rock Bands from the 70's and 80's. Just listen and let the music flow flawlessly throughout your body and sense's.

    My all time fave song duo by Boston!! They were well known to take FOREVER when producing an album before release. And RIP Brad. What a great set of pipes. And what a sound. No other band has ever sounded like this.
