So true, “rubbersole”! I grew up through this era of music, so I received my formal music appreciation/education listening to this period of Music. A very awesome period in music history! Mark T. :€)
The intro to this song is so epic with it's up and down changeovers that no other band has ever been able to reproduce to this day. And the rest of the song has such a feel good sound with lyrics, voice and epic guitar sounds that you can't help but feel energized after hearing it, that's why it's one of my most favorite songs of all time.
Still Boston's best song, and still fresh after 43 years. RIP Brad Delp, Boston's lead singer .Kel's face said it all, this song is three steps beyond awesome. Love the site.
THIS, to me is the only song ever written that I JUST WISH would never end. The euphoric state of mind it puts you in, it can bring you from the worst mood into a desire to take on the world............. in win. Thank you to the members of this amazing band for giving this to us, the music censurers.
BS. Producer John Boylan is on record stating that the drum and acoustic instrument racks on Toms demo were amateurish and could not be used in for the final recording. Boylan hired LA Engineer Paul Grupp to teach Tom proper mic technique and how to record acoustic instruments. Tom then had to rerecord all of the drum and acoustic instrument tracks. Also all of Brads vocals were recorded at Capital Studios Studio C by producer John Boylan and the vocal quality on the demo is poor and amateurish compared to the vocals on the record.
Yes! We were at a three way cross roads in the 70's. I had my favorites in album, 8 trac and cassettes. You never knew what you were going to be faced with in whoever's car, room or impromptu nature walk.
I had an 8 track player in my 1973 Gran Torino and one in my house. I wore out FOUR of the Boston 8 tracks before I went to cassette tapes. My ELO "Out of the Blue" 8 tracks went about the same route!
So many good songs on that first album. Brad Delp had one of the greatest rock voices in history. The notes he was able to hit in More Than a Feeling were phenomenal. Just when you think he reached the highest note, he took it up to another level, twice. It was heart breaking when he took his own life.
I was 16 when this album came out. My friends said, "You have to hear this album." I did, over and over again! This album changed music of this decade!
"Foreplay" can best be appreciated when listened to at high volume, while driving at night, at high speed on a dark country road, in a '71 Mustang, during a Midwest thunder storm, with the headlights off, and the road lit only by the constant flashes of lightning. Been there, done that, lived to tell about it. 👍👍👍😃😃😃
This is one of those PERFECT albums. Every...single...track is a winner. And I loved how the first three albums had covers that together told a story of a "takeoff," "journey" & "arrival." (Always loved that the ships were "guitar ships.") Had to laugh when Kel mentioned a rocket taking off.
Love when Kel closes her eyes and just reacts emotionally to each note and the surprise in her face when the beats change. Looks as though she is genuinely amazed. Nicely done
A joyride on steroids....the guitars are flying off into space by the end of the track. Brad DELP is perfect in this song. Your reaction is just like mine nearly 40 years later. Never fails to deliver.
When this was released I was working at an audio equipment store and it was also around the time when windowless mural vans were popular and I had a customer pull into the store with the Boston album art painted in great detail on his van and it was epic!
That, just like all the Tool reactions, was the precise reason I love watching reaction videos. All this music I love I can now hear for the first time vicariously through Kel's ears. It truly gives me goosebumps when I see the look on her face as the music begins and then her reactions to the hooks and solos. Priceless! Thanks guys!
You guys, just found you. Love that it's her first time reacting to this song. The emotion that's reflected by her facial expressions / body is actually incredible. I can see she appreciates the music, she feels the music. She understands the music. I know you have heard the song before, man. I know you felt the same way when you first heard it. Thank you for sharing this with her.
This was a good reaction vid.. and seeing the lyrics, I am in the year of turning 50, and some of the lyrics were new tome, I thought something else.. so this changed the meaning , or brought the meaning of the song to new level for me!! never knew there was a love interest in a sense in the song at all!! thank you..
High school in FL, jammed to this when we'd skip school and head to the beach just about every Friday senior year. I am instantly in that car again in my mind every time I hear this. Like it was yesterday... Great reaction, thanks for doing this one. A true classic
So glad to see #Boston getting respect from great people like you two! Back in the day, they were ridiculed by the press (I'm talking to you, Rolling Stone Magazine), who called them "corporate rock." The ironic thing is, nobody stayed truer to their own vision than Tom Scholz. After the label forced them to release Don't Look Back prematurely in '78, it would be another 8 years before Tom would release another album (Third Stage). I would love to hear Kel's reaction to Hitch a Ride - that's one of my all-time favorite songs: ruclips.net/video/tV3pR87L-T8/видео.html - I got the first Boston album as a birthday gift when I was 13 (March of '77) and I still have that vinyl in my collection. It's, without a doubt, one of the most solid albums of the era. Love it!! Hats off to the late Brad Delp - one of the finest rock vocalists ever. Such a tragic loss...
Boston was and still one of my favorite bands growing up. I bought this album as soon as it hit the music store. I play the shit out of it. I played it so much that I had to buy it two more times. One on album, one one cassette and last on CD. The whole album is fantastic. Love your wife's reaction. I just subscribed.
Tom Shultz, the lead guitarist recorded practically this whole album in his basement turned recording studio with the band in 1976, while in college studying to be an engineer.
@@donovanemery597 you are correct...but he was an MIT grad. Tom played everything on the album except the drums. He brought Brad in to do the vocals. When the "band" was signed, Tom needed to find band members so they can go on tour

Great idea doing an 8 track reaction,,,,,"ka-chunk".

That schoolboy giddiness at the beginning was priceless...lol. I wore that album OUT on vinyl. Tom Scholz had a masters degree in mechanical engineering from MIT and worked in R&D for Polaroid. He built a music studio in his basement in Boston. He played every instrument on this song except the drums and vocals and all but the vocals were recorded in the basement. Singer Brad Delp recorded those vocals in a studio in Los Angeles. You know what I like....? Kel's little "giggle" during the first chorus. It takes me back to when I first heard this album the year it came out, cause that was MY reaction. It's so great to re-live these tunes through her ears. I actually had tears in my eyes watching her reaction. Of course I've done the same thing with so may of your Dream Theater vids as well. Oh Kel I’d be lying if I said I didn’t envy you in a way. Hearing these songs for the first time is truly wonderful. I remember being blown away the first time I heard them. It’s still special every time after but nothing compares to that first time.
It's like they built the songs around the album cover. Every song was like being beamed up into the spaceship and taken on a journey through the cosmos. Just perfection from start to finish.
R.I.P. Mr. Bradley Delp - - one of the best, male voices in the history of well - - TIME. Even Tom Scholz stated that his voice was angelic, I.M.H.O. few men were ever blessed with a voice like that. When i first listened Boston I was like 10 years old. My older brother had recorded tape from a LP and he played every morning in a old radio . I was like “ What is that horrible sound? Then I grew up and made it my favorite band , along with Queen. I love all the songs from the two first album and one of my favorite is Used to bad news , not as complex produced as other’s songs but a great feeling theme, and that’s what’s about it no? More than a feeling ?
Tom Sholtz's basically recorded all the instruments for this. Before he actually had a full band in place. Created this masterpiece on his own. Astounding...
I loved the look on Kel's face. I remember having that same look when the LP first released back in the 70's. I bought the cassette crammed it in my player in my Vega, and started cruisin... Thanks for taking me back there. In case you are wondering im 60 now... :) Rock On
Anytime Kel laughs two times in a song, you know you got a good thing going on. It's so nice to experience this song for the first time by proxy. Thank you!
Rich, dont forget about ELO. Kels parents being so restrictive, they must see you as "the Devil Incarnate". Lol. But, Boston had such a full, rich, engulfing sound that wrapped itself around you and took you on a journey. Truly and epic band.
This was my go-to music for kobudo (martial arts weaponry) demos. People really loved to see things smashed with nunchuks in time to Boston's Foreplay/Long Time! Go figure. Thanks for being you and sharing who you are. Love you guys!
This song is awesome. My fav from Boston. Don't worry Kel, the good thing about Rock/Metal is that it's timeless.
Thank you for this!
Boston was my first favorite too! Her reaction is priceless!
Stay safe, and keep having fun!
Perfection every song Boston is brilliant
Oh Kel I’d be lying if I said I didn’t envy you in a way. Hearing these songs for the first time is truly wonderful. I remember being blown away the first time I heard them. It’s still special every time after but nothing compares to that first time.
I remember when this came out It was huge. But it took a while for a follow up so they literally played every song on here on regular rotation
I don't know how anyone on the planet hasn't heard this masterpiece....rock on! Brian Delp is phenomenal. Good vibes xo!
It's about time Boston Yes! The picture on the cover is also a guitar not just a space ship!
Long time is one of those songs that can change your mood from sad to joyful in less than 5 minutes. Fave song!
Boston has that effect on people.
"Cool the Engines", from Boston's third album!
Open strings just ringing like churchbells. One of my first favorite styles.
Takes me back to my teens. Don't forget "Hitch a ride" off same album. My favorite. Epic guitar solo
Peace y'all & God Bless ME, I'm going from this reaction of yours to the Eric Johnson "Cliffs Of Dover". O.M.G. - - you two have such GREAT taste!
You two are so blessed to be able to explore music as you are...
My Favorite Band of all time..... Enjoy!! Cheers from Ottawa!!
don't know how far back you go, but I caught Boston at the old Ottawa Ex (Lansdowne Park...afternoon concert) back when they had just released Don't Look Back about '77 or '78....cheers from Petawawa
@@mediawerxbrian The Ex had some great concerts.... it is Unfortunate that it is no more..... Bluefest is trying to make up for it, but it is just not the same as the old concerts for sure. You military??
@@scitor31 not military....my father was, so I grew up on Military Bases...most of my 63 years has been in Petawawa though
@@mediawerxbrian Ahhhh ok. I have been in Ottawa since 92' I was posted here as I was Military, and still work for DND. Kewl Channel these 2 have set up. Look forward to more of the classic and progressive rock, vice the harder stuff. Good that we can pick and choose from their videos !!
Ab-so-lute-ly mindblowing tune! I saw them live in Pittsburgh at what was then Star Lake Amphitheater...same reaction as Kel's occurred with literally everyone when they played this tune... Needless to say, I was happy and satisfied...
I've been waiting for this one. Awesome.
Brilliant reaction Kel - we all had that look back in the day :-)
11:55 "Oh, we're getting an 8-track". LMAO
OK here we go thunk, thunk, thunk, thunk...so good!
Great history. Thanks so much!!!
KnR 🤘😎🔥
Tom Sholtz's basically recorded all the instruments for this. Before he actually had a full band in place. Created this masterpiece on his own. Astounding...
Not the drums. Jim Masdea. Then Sib (RIP) redid them.
I loved the look on Kel's face. I remember having that same look when the LP first released back in the 70's. I bought the cassette crammed it in my player in my Vega, and started cruisin... Thanks for taking me back there. In case you are wondering im 60 now... :) Rock On
Great song, great album. Thhis one hangs on my wall as well.
@Putting on the foil
I've thought that too about a few songs. I was wrong. Lol
This was my go-to music for kobudo (martial arts weaponry) demos. People really loved to see things smashed with nunchuks in time to Boston's Foreplay/Long Time! Go figure. Damnit I was so lucky to be a teenager in the '70s! You guys are awesome, thanks for reminding me of the first time I heard this.
Love it.. A favorite when I was in high school….
Doing the " electric slide" at a Jr. High talent show! 😅
Hey you two goofballs. I just want to give a shout out to youts for continuing to make me smile. Stay happy and healthy.
