Namaste yogis, this class was filmed during my trip to Cuba in February. I know.. took me 4 months to upload.. I'm kind of a procrastinator... but here it is! This is what I call an "intense" yin yoga class because it includes what I think are the most challenging yin yoga postures. It focuses a lot on hamstrings with some hip openers as well. We will do poses like splits, wide leg forward fold, low lunge and we begin and end with a short meditation. I hope you enjoy this practice :)
What is Yin Yoga? Yin yoga is often called the Yoga of the joints because unlike other styles of yoga, the emphasis is not on the muscles but on the deep connective tissue. Connective tissue is made up of fascia, ligaments and tendons which surround and form your joints. Yin yoga improves the range of motion in your joints and also strengthens them. The results and benefits are more flexibility and greater range of motion and also more stability within your joints.
There are 3 principles of Yin Yoga.
1. Find your edge
2. Be still
3. Hold the pose
Use as many props as needed in Yin Yoga! Blocks, bolsters and straps are all great ways to support your body to make sure you are respecting your edge and not going too far.

Hi Kassandra. New fan from LA who also practices with Erin Sampson/Five Parks Yoga. Your yin/flexibility classes stand alone. When searching through your tons of offerings, this is where I landed for a 30 min morning stretch on a day where my lower joints all feel like crusty cement.

Hands down my favourite kind of yoga. Long intense holds, extended periods of silence with only my breath sounding like the ocean and my mind clear.
Always feel amazing afterwards. Like I've had a massage and therapy all at once :) highly recommend.
styles of yoga day 17: we did a yoga session with my husband and I closed my practice with this video. I have never imagined I would be close to do a full split one day :) I would never have tried by myself. I love how trust into yoga and into you help me to just follow the process and do my best and find at the end that my body can do better than my head thinks. I love yin yoga classes, yoga is overall a great exercise for me, but yin is my favorite as I love feeling my body stretch, I have a lot of joint pains and this helps!

Kassandra, I have MS and I run, so my hips and hamstrings need daily stretching. This is my go to half hour for before a run, when back spasms get bad, and for when I’m feeling too tired for yoga (which is when I need it most). Thank you for this, it’s really made a difference.

I finished the upper body and just fnshd the lower. I should say, you pace it so well taking the time because I feel that is what yoga is all about. I found many rush rush and do not give time to enjoy the flow. Atleast if its slow we can move forward but when its fast its not easy to slow down. Goodluck and thankyou.

I LOVE this class- first of all the scenery is so beautiful and calming - Love the beach setting- water always clams me down. 2nd the class is just fantastic at opening your hips and hamstrings. My regular practice is Ashtanga but love yin yoga to balance things out and really take the time to relax and open up the fascia. YOU ARE A GREAT TEACHER!

I really. enjoyed the time spent in each pose i definitely. feel the difference. I had a lil issue with my right hip flexor near groin it feels stuck as if it need to be adjusted I also noticed while in wide leg pose my Right leg turns out in result of it. I am surprised u didn't do fire log pose. any suggestions. on opening that area.
Hi Kim I'm not sure I'm following? Do you mean the inner groin/adducter area? If so the poses like wide folds, skandasana (not yin), butterfly, frog and happy baby could be good!
Time flew while I was doing this. I blinked and it was 26 minutes in haha.

130122 I was a little anxious at "intense" and it was, but oh so manageable! Some of the poses I came out of them a few seconds before you, but I cannot believe that I am as flexible as I am. The splits, even with a block under the thigh, would've thought it when I started yoga as stiff as a board two & a half years ago? Thank you for helping me on my journey. Namaste.
July 22 2024 good stretch
1.4.2024: Low lunges were really a struggle. Shavasana at the end would have been nice.
Why is there no warm up with Yin Yoga? it seems dangerous to begin deep stretching without a warm body...Can you help me understand?

Nice poses and class, thank you! What is really annoying though is the sea sound clip that repeats over and over during the class, and has these hands clapping at the beginning and at the end is abruptly cut off, to then repeat again. This makes it hard to focus :(
