I truly believe if I owned any of one these my stress, anxiety and tensions would be heal from my damaged spirit! If only I could afford to purchase one. I will direct my energies to finding a way to have one enter my life!
This popped up for me right on time. I have recently purchased a tongue drum, and hangpan but I still feel like there's a missing sound. When you played the RAV and Guida my heart jumped. Thank you for helping me make a decision!...🙏🏽❤️✨
I'm a beatboxer who stumbled upon these instruments today by chance, and I've been researching them for hours already. Beautiful instruments. I'm looking around to find one that fits my style, unfortunately it seems the prices are really expensive overall.
Thank you for sharing, I have been playing djembe drums for years. I've heard wooden tongue drums but never metal versions . I like the metallic resonance. I may look into something like that now. Thanks again!
These four instruments, that you have kindly shown Us, has inspired me with a new concept that incorporates all of them. I like the beautiful tones of the big one and the color and note holding of the second one, the hole for storing things in the third one and the art work on the fourth one. I see all of these combined in a back pack affair (removable leather harness) that could go with one in their wanderings. Thanks for the great presentation.
I only know how to play Kalimbas, but these instruments have interested me so much! I wish they weren't so exspensive. The RAV and Handpan sound so beautiful! ❤️
Great comparison, thanks. I play percussion , and have just received my first steel tongue drum from Lithuania, which i will be doing an unboxing video tomorrow. Although my channel is videos of Nature and wildlife, i hope to use the drum as music for my videos sometimes. Im sure it will be a really fascinating new instrument to learn and grow with. It is hand crafted by an artisan in Lithuania, and should be a beautiful piece of art in itself. Very curious, and excited to see whats inside the box. I particularly like the steel tongue drums, as the sustain is amazing. Thanks for your great tutorials and comparisons of some beautiful percussion instruments.
Thank you for this video. I am on a steep curve here...why do some handpans are adveritsed with particualar notes....I need some basics here. Thank you, you are great!
Certain musical scales give off different vibes. Like an instrument in a major key will sound generally happy whereas one in a minor key will tend to sound a little more sad. It ultimately depends on how you want your drum to feel musically.
Great question. Handpans are not cheap because it takes many hours of hand hammering by an individual to get them into the proper shape in tuning. Our maker at Aura Handpans estimates that it’s about 30 hours of labor per pan. Add to that the materials cost, and the cost of all of the machines that are used to produce the instruments, and you can see why they need to charge such a significant price for this wonderful instrument.
For some reason I can’t find RAV Vast B integral. There is only A integral. Are these different scales or there is a mistake somewhere? If they are different - B integral one are not available anymore?
I reallllly love how you wrote the keys out for us Thanks a huge tons! The biggest help ever! I have a rav on the way! Supppperrr excited! Trying to figure if the GUDA is worth getting also as it’s incredibly beautiful looking for our performances but sound is what always matters the most! Trying to figure still... the rav really seems like the best sound but it can’t always be easy to tell off a recording... for sound quality, you think rav is on top for pros? Much love brother
Regarding tuning, do they come with specified tuning or do they vary and I would have to figure out each notch for what note it is. Hopefully all notches match some note so they can be labeled.
Each pan comes with a specified tuning. Most pans do not label the notes on the metal itself, but some people add tape. Most experienced players know where the notes on a pan are after spending some time playing it.
That GOUDA cheeze sounds like a Fender Rhodes... righteous! Lovin' the Bb mayjj-ja -- but sorry man that Tacta just doesn't do it for me, sounds a bit flat and bland for a handpan, especially the handpans you've played before and even compared to the RAV... are they mass produced with a machine assembly line? Not trying to knock it outright... just is a bit of a let down compared to the tongue drums which is usually never the case with handpans... whatever... could be the mics?
Hello! Can i ask who provided you with the gudas? I've found there are 3 websites selling them and claiming they are the original makers. I've bought one of off etsy from a guy called mike who i think owns the company now, but yours seems to be the ones from dimitri. I suppose my question is, do the 3 company gudas sound the same?
Hey friend, we no longer work with Guda. We now sell the Meinl Octave Steel Tongue Drums which are very similar to Guda Drums, only the Meinl instruments are available for a more affordable price and thus more accessible. They also come with a free case and mallets. Sorry I can't help you with your Guda woes, but you may want to consider the octave steel tongue drum. See link below. Cheers! www.didgeproject.com/product/octave-steel-tongue-drum-meinl-sonic-energy/
@@didgeproject thanks for your answer mate, i have already ordered the zen guda freezbee so for now i will try and practice that, but im already looking at the g pigmy rav, love that scale and the ringing! Those meinl seems very good though, in particular the double tongues for the same price of the single tongue gudas. Just to know, if i would order one from you in the future how much is the shipping from usa to italy?
You mention several times in this video that you have a store which one can come in and try out/purchase different handpans. Where is this store, what is it's name, and does it have a website?
Hi, I'm a beginner and looking at buying a D major or B Celtic Minor Rav Vast, I'd also like to buy a complimentary Guda Mini Overton. Could you help out with suggestions of what sound scales would work best?
Gould J Guda can make any scale custom to what you want. So I would choose your RAV and contact Guda directly to match it. We have over 10 RAV scales in stock currently at didgeproject.com/store
I know what the top 2 lines of notes mean, but what does the bottom line mean? for example at 3:49 on the bottom you have 1 b3 5 b6 b7 1 2 b3 5. what does that mean is it the harmonic series? *sorry i'm new to understanding music theory and notation please don't roast me*
The bottom line, i.e. 1 b3 5, etc., denotes the scale tones. So if the root note were C, the major scale would be C D E F G A B C and the scale tones would be 1 2 3 4 5 6 7 1. Once we get into non-major tonalities, such as minor, we start using symbols b and # to denote flat (b) and sharp (#) notes. So in the key of C the tones 1 b3 5 b6 b7 1 2 b3 5, would be C (the 1) Eb (the flat 3 instead of E). G. Ab (the flat 6 instead of A), Bb (the flat 7 instead of B), C, D, Eb (the flat 3 instead of E) and G. Does this make sense?
The wooden disks on the Rav Vast drums are thin and glued on but are easily popped off and then you could put clothes, snacks, some kittens, or what ever you like inside. ;-) To replace the disk you'd need to glue it back on but the sound difference isn't much different with the disk off so I haven't reattached mine. (I sometimes put microphones or lights into the hole) . A slight WARNING: the metal edge of the hole is unfinished and somewhat sharp so it's not intended to be left exposed! Putting your fingers or hands inside might cause them to get scraped or cut. I filed/sanded down the edge on mine but not quite enough so I use caution when picking up my Rav by the hole.
It feels special, it's really great, it's healing
Every human needs one of these.

I wish i could afford one😩
Edit: converted to my currency ones around 600 dollars is like 10,000.
Like.. what?

That big one sounds like such a good instrument!
RAV has far better sound for sure and is not overratted and overvalued like Hang .Is definitely worth the price.
I still prefer the Hang, I do agree it might be overvalued.
Can you kindly tell me how I would search for it on amazon to buy? Where can we buy one? What is the price?
I hope these become easier to make in the future and thus a bit cheaper. They're really cool.

I just looooovve the sound it makes! 💓💓
I loove the blue one, second. Also i like to watch You. 🙌🏻
I think that hearing the bones sound smother the sound for the handpan itself depend on model. Good handpan does not spread these "dry sounds".
You are a very good musician

RAV and most high quality handpans are going to give you the best sound. guda drums are better for travel but the sound has less sustain and beauty.
