I initially ordered the B Celtic Double Ding in 432 Hz ... however after some more listening I felt the B Kurd to genuinely touch my heart. I don't know what the reason is, perhaps because of being from Bulgaria and the more "eastern" vibe it has. So before they shipped it, I changed my order to the B Kurd. The thing you play on B Kurd in all your videos is awesome, I will definitely be trying to learn it from your video :) If I one day find spare money for another Rav it will definitely be the G Pygmy though... that scale just blows me away. It has very meditative sound.
Well done my friend! Finding the scale one gravitates to was my starting point along with your guidance made selecting our first RAVs an easy choice. I seem to gravitate to the minor scales the most. I'm not a musician, but I've been watching Ravvast videos for a few years. During the next weeks I will finally purchase one, I think it will improve a lot my mental health. I was so secure I wanted an Onoleo (been wanting an Onoleo for at least 3/4 years) but now listening you playing the B Celtic I'm not feeling so sure 😂 it's the first time I'm having doubts about this! You made me feel a connection with the B Celtic and I never felt it in the past! Till now only Onoleo resonated with my heart, now I'm having mixed feelings ahah
If you resonate with it, get it! I say at the beginning and end, uLtimately, the scale best for you is 5 some you resonate with. I think feeling connected to it is the key 🔑 If you need help working with it to, would be happy to set up lessons when it arrives 😉🎶

Exact same story with me. I love Irish music (Chieftons, etc), however, the music of my soul is Middle Eastern, Indian, and Progressive). I play Tabla, dumbec, berimbau, gongs, talking drums, etc. Now, after watching these videos, for my first pan, I can't decide. ..Any more help deciding would be very helpful.

I have a (very old, now) degree in music education but you have the advantage way over me in these instruments and these particular scales. It's exciting to learn about them. You have a sweet and clear personality in presenting them. Reminds me of "Donovan" from my seventies era. I am just venturing into playing tongue drums but yours is something even more etheral. I believe most people prefer to order directly from the manufacturer RAV. Good communication and fast delivery. You can also ask for a discount. I didn't ask but on the next day they've noticed that I kept something in the cart (I've registered before). I was grateful and also ordered mallets and a bag-mallets proved very useful for us (total beginners) as hitting it with bare hands takes some skill and some effort (especially the smaller tongues), plus mallets certainly bring some variety.

I would love to see a comparison video B major and D major if possible, but also replying to this text would be much appreciated. Since the B major is deeper it seems to give a slightly different mood than the higher D major which sounds even more joyful. Would be great to get your opinion on the two scales. Thank you.

I Would love to so if I get my hands on one! One of the other reasons is that they are producing so many scales with a B central note, people are looking for something different (though the B Celtic is only 2 note different from the D Major!) Hello Aga! Many people use the Rav for meditative playing. What most are looking for is a long sustain, and some handpans have this. The rav, however has especially warm and long lasting sound. Ravs are instruments that use cut tongues to make sound. Their size and weight determine the notes. Handpans are essentially Caribbean steel drums, turned upside down, that is compression of the tone fields to create sound. If you do go with either one, be in touch! What are your thoughts on the D Celtic Minor for a novice player with zero experience regarding percussive rhythms or melodic diads, triads, and progression/resolution? It's the scale I've had my eye on for the last year because of the mellower sound I feel like it has. Hoping to get one for Yule this year.
It’s a lovely scale, all things said about the b Celtic, apply to the D. It just has smaller notes and it pitched a bit higher! The only deterrent I have heard is right some people, initially have a hard time with striking it. It is the same technique as the rest of the Rav family though, so should not take long to master 🙏🎶 Thanks for watching!
I'm looking for a great scale for meditation and sound healing. I already own a handpan in D-Kurd but i love the RAV vAST. What would be a great addition to my handpan. Hey there! I think G Pygmy or B celtic would be perfect! The D celtic Rav vast is a bit higher than the other scales, so I think meditative play is better suited to the B celtic. Would love to work together if you need any lessons on your journey! As for 432, I would honestly just go for 440. I like the theory behind it, but it makes playing with others more difficult, and for those with perfect pitch, such as myself, they just always sound out of tune haha. Best of luck!

Hey my friend. Montreal difference, other than being slightly lower pitched and not being able to play with most instruments. I love the story of 432hz tuning, but as a performer, prefer 440, as this is the standard tuning for all instruments. That said, if you like it, are interested in sound healing/ etc, 432 may be a good fit!

Yes, absolutely! I Think the B celtic is a great fit or yoga as well. The B kurd is more oriented towards songwriting, so it all depends on the objective. Am a professional percussionist and really like having options. Unfortunately it's quite difficult to own and transport a number of these pans and be as creative as I want to be? The long note resonance seems to require careful choices when playing in large band setting. It can fill quite a bit of space in a musical piece? I currently play recorded hang drum samples via percussion synthesizers. I can modify timbre, pitch, resonance, etc., however I often wonder what playing the real instrument would be like? Where I live there are rarely any handpans for me to audition. I've found a RamVast Pigmy I'll be able to audition in the near future. Your thoughts on how versatile it would be in a five piece band setting? Really appreciate the info provided in your videos. Thanks for sharing!!
Yes! B Celtic or Kurd works well with B minor and F# minor flutes. G pentatonic is just a g minor scale, so works with all g flutes. Kurd has the most potential for variety between the three of them. If you pick on up eventually, do use my discount code REWILD on their site!
Good question! They are never out of tune ;) Ravs are primarily tuned via the size of the tongue. I have never needed to retune any of my Ravs, even after 6 years! that is one of the many great things about them!
B Kurd is a great place to start, essentially the same as the B celtic, with one extra note :) I highly recommend both, but I personally write more on the Kurd. I picked up a backstar d Celtic.. and.. clearly it doesn't sound nearly as good as these.. and much less expensive..( I reeeeeeally wish you could demonstrate this drum or type so I can see if it's possible to make it sound good..( I have another couple weeks to return it if I change my mind and there's such a short demonstration.. and that's all anywhere.. like 30 second s.....I'm not sure if I should just send this back and spend the expensive price for a much better sound of drum..the toungues sounds pretty good I suppose but idk know I wish I could hear someone experienced make it sound good so I know if it's possible..bc if it is..I can use it at least to practice while saving up or deciding slowly what exact drum and scale to spend the much higher price on .I spent soooooo many hours listening to different scales keys drums .. these ravs..the pan drums novas Happy drums..I thought this one bc it's the biggest for the price and I thought bigger would give lower notes Wich I love..but I'm pretty far from really sounding good and as I said if I could hear someone who plays amazingly well make this sound good..it would give me more incentive to try..( too many options..) if you find the time..I'd appreciate a response advice so to speak..) if not I know you're really busy thank you!!

I have a Quint Art D Celtic minor and I do find it really difficult to produce clear upper notes! What scale would you recommend to pair it with D Celtic minor? I would like to play with my son. Thanks!
They are typically tuned 440, but can be custom made in 432. You will just be limited in your ability to play with others, because most instruments are created in 440. Hope that helps! Either one, you would love 🎶

My suggestion is to listen to aims a tusly music on each scale (I have tons of songs on here and on Lux Natura album by Rewildyoursoul on Spotify and iTunes ) then pick which works!

What are your thoughts on the D Celtic Minor for a novice player with zero experience regarding percussive rhythms or melodic diads, triads, and progression/resolution? It's the scale I've had my eye on for the last year because of the mellower sound I feel like it has. Hoping to get one for Yule this year.
It’s a lovely scale, all things said about the b Celtic, apply to the D. It just has smaller notes and it pitched a bit higher! The only deterrent I have heard is right some people, initially have a hard time with striking it. It is the same technique as the rest of the Rav family though, so should not take long to master 🙏🎶 Thanks for watching!

I'm looking for a great scale for meditation and sound healing. I already own a handpan in D-Kurd but i love the RAV vAST. What would be a great addition to my handpan. I really don't want to get another D celtic since i already have the D kurd. What would you recommend as a beginner for meditation/yoga nidra? Thank you fr your advise. Also i'm in doubt about the 432 vs 440 hz .
Hey there! I think G Pygmy or B celtic would be perfect! The D celtic Rav vast is a bit higher than the other scales, so I think meditative play is better suited to the B celtic. Would love to work together if you need any lessons on your journey! As for 432, I would honestly just go for 440. I like the theory behind it, but it makes playing with others more difficult, and for those with perfect pitch, such as myself, they just always sound out of tune haha. Best of luck!

Hey my friend. Montreal difference, other than being slightly lower pitched and not being able to play with most instruments. I love the story of 432hz tuning, but as a performer, prefer 440, as this is the standard tuning for all instruments.
That said, if you like it, are interested in sound healing/ etc, 432 may be a good fit!

Yes, absolutely! I Think the B celtic is a great fit or yoga as well. The B kurd is more oriented towards songwriting, so it all depends on the objective. Do ravs need tuning eventually like hand pans? If so how much does that cost?

Am a professional percussionist and really like having options. Unfortunately it's quite difficult to own and transport a number of these pans and be as creative as I want to be? The long note resonance seems to require careful choices when playing in large band setting. It can fill quite a bit of space in a musical piece? I currently play recorded hang drum samples via percussion synthesizers. I can modify timbre, pitch, resonance, etc., however I often wonder what playing the real instrument would be like? Where I live there are rarely any handpans for me to audition. I've found a RamVast Pigmy I'll be able to audition in the near future. Your thoughts on how versatile it would be in a five piece band setting? Really appreciate the info provided in your videos. Thanks for sharing!!
There are many synth options, but I perform professionally all over and usually carry 15 while traveling in a tiny car, so doable!
Is there one you'd recommend for playing with native flutes?
Yes! B Celtic or Kurd works well with B minor and F# minor flutes.
G pentatonic is just a g minor scale, so works with all g flutes.
Kurd has the most potential for variety between the three of them.

Good question! They are never out of tune ;) Ravs are primarily tuned via the size of the tongue. I have never needed to retune any of my Ravs, even after 6 years! that is one of the many great things about them!

I picked up a backstar d Celtic.. and.. clearly it doesn't sound nearly as good as these.. and much less expensive..( I reeeeeeally wish you could demonstrate this drum or type so I can see if it's possible to make it sound good..( I have another couple weeks to return it if I change my mind and there's such a short demonstration.. and that's all anywhere.. like 30 second s.....I'm not sure if I should just send this back and spend the expensive price for a much better sound of drum..the toungues sounds pretty good I suppose but idk know I wish I could hear someone experienced make it sound good so I know if it's possible..bc if it is..I can use it at least to practice while saving up or deciding slowly what exact drum and scale to spend the much higher price on .I spent soooooo many hours listening to different scales keys drums .. these ravs..the pan drums novas
Happy drums..I thought this one bc it's the biggest for the price and I thought bigger would give lower notes Wich I love..but I'm pretty far from really sounding good and as I said if I could hear someone who plays amazingly well make this sound good..it would give me more incentive to try..( too many options..) if you find the time..I'd appreciate a response advice so to speak..) if not I know you're really busy thank you!!

They are typically tuned 440, but can be custom made in 432. You will just be limited in your ability to play with others, because most instruments are created in 440. Hope that helps! Either one, you would love 🎶

@@BradenEarly g Pygmy is also fantastic! It really depends on what you connect with, I have students who start of with some of the harder scales and pick it up immediately. My suggestion is to listen to aims a tusly music on each scale (I have tons of songs on here and on Lux Natura album by Rewildyoursoul on Spotify and iTunes ) then pick which works!
