I look forward to your future tutorials! I like the quick, 5 minute format as it gives you something specific to work on without feeling overwhelming. Thanks, Ricky!
Thank you for posting these tutorials, I have just purchased a g pygmy and B Celtic minor and will benefit greatly from your teaching. May peace be with you
Just got my B Kurd and was watching your 5 minutes quick tutorial. Thank you! My Intuition Told me to you my thumb and the fingers. And now I´ve something to practice and exercise. Thank you! And Also to RAV VAST in Russia!
Thanks very much for your tutorials! Can you make one on developing rhythms? For some of us coming from a melodic instrument background rather than percussion, that is the harder part. I notice you often have a regular underlying beat in the middle of the drum, from which you branch out. Can you slow that down and show how it works?
Great video, thank you :) Could you please do a tutorial on developing hand independence, and maybe some exercises to do so with the rav? I can do left right, left left right right, etc, easily. But I can't do 2 different tempos with each hand.
I really enjoy this video, I have a rav vast D major for fiew months. I learn a little bite every times i play. I hope you make some tutoriels, I really enjoy to learning with you. Your music is so beautifu! I folllow you from Switzerland🇨🇭🇨🇭🇨🇭
I definitely want one of these drums in the future. It will have to wait in line with a few keys of Native American style flutes I'm lacking, but I will have a rav vast drum at some point. I'll mainly be looking at drums in keys that play well with minor pentatonic tuned flutes, and are on the easier side of learning. I'm guessing that the B celtic minor and B kurd would do well, as well as their D minor scaled drum. Thanks for sharing!
Very good tutorial. If you play bass guitar before, G Pygmy has amazing bass response but you can easily apply bass playing techniques like playing by bony part of your thumb works brilliant.
Thanks my friend! Glad it was useful! I have lots more material on here, as well as offering private lessons via zoom, if you ever have the desire! Best of luck on the journey!
I hope to learn alot from your videos, i just subscribed and hit the like ,i just purchased a tongue drum from amazon today and will be looking forward to some lessons.
I had a question, your ravs are metallic and ringing with the octave hits, mine is ceramic feeling/ matte and I don't seem to be able to hit these octave strokes. Are the vast 1/2 maybe different materials? Also, just in time, thank you :D you are a legend of a soul!
Hey my friend. It all depends on where you are hitting and the generation. As you said, this with the new finish have a slightly different octave prominence. Also, as you guessed, vast 1 and 2 are different thickness. Old Ravs used a different type of steel as well. Hopefully I answered your question 🙏 Feel free to make a video about what you are talking about and I can help you figure it out ! Stay well!
Hi since Ravs are now a bit more expensive complicated to get wouldn't it be cool to offer a Rav connection network for those looking for certain scales and those looking to sell and help make that connection I know I am looking for two scales and just sold one on Ebay. Just a suggestion. Thanks. Eddie
your videos are taking good care of my mental state right now .. unfortunately I can't buy myself a handpan/rav as its state illegal in germany the have one due to the copyright to panART ... its so rediculous and the support of ravast told me to search for someone who is willed to receive the pan for me and ship it then to me ..
Hello! 🙂 In the video, you mention that one tounge has 6 notes or so, am I right? So, does this mean that whatever scale you use, you can have all notes and halfnotes you have on a guitar for example? How does it work with each tounge of rav? For example a D4 or a G3, etc center note of a tounge which other notes does it have close to it on the same tounge?
Hello! The harmonics and partials can be isolated via muting on the tongue. Really the octave fifth and a few others are the easiest to get to through that technique. :)
One handpans, yes, Ravs and tongue drums, no. Simply because of the function of their tuning! Common on handpans to do ding bends, but mostly a small accent.
@@ReWildYourSoul Yep I found a video of a guy bending notes on a pan, but the only example I found with a tongue drum was by placing and dipping it down in water. Was pretty cool actually, though not sure it’s good for the drum!
Hmmm I will have to re watch it. The double and triple notes struck at once, are the triads and dead’s 😉 thanks for pointing it out. I will be more clear in the future
@@ReWildYourSoul thanks...I was hoping that my wife could get a start. I got her a RAV, but she responds better to others teaching sometimes...especially the basics. Do you cover the diads, triads on another video? We have the same B RAV.
Thank you so much!!! I played my first song because of you! Very grateful

Wonderful video to learn for a beginner! Thanks!!
Good job my friend! RAVs should come with a warning lable! "WARNING HIGHLY ADDICTIVE" Thanks for all your efforts. I'm sure it's a labor of love.
I completely agree haha :)
Magical and beautiful instrument, such a beautiful existence
Thank you so much for your video from Italy! 🇮🇹✨

@@BDWoodruffmusic Thanks for letting me know. Those are two of the 3 keys I've got on my list right now, along with a G
@@ChiefPoints My pleasure; glad I could help.
Cant wait to order mine

Easy to understand. Thanks btw im from Malaysia 🇲🇾
Glad it helped!
Thank you!!!!
of course!
Thank you for this fine lesson!! :-)
Just a heads up, your link to buy drums is broken. You may want to update it and check your other videos.

Absolutely, i love it when multi instrumentalists like myself apply technique from other instrument!
I don’t have a RAV vast yet, but I really like them and I’m thinking about getting a E low Pygmy but idk yet, still looking
Which Rav model is this drum you're playing?
Do the miniature drums still create that beautiful haunting sound?
B celtic. no minis that have the same sound quality yet!
Very useful presentation. Thank you. I subscribed and will return to your weekly presentations.

What is the note when we hit the corner of the tong related to the note when hitting to the center?
What a sweet man!
Thanks!

That's very frustrating. Hopefully that silly situation resolves itself soon!
It is totally legal to buy a rav in Germany
@@AlexAnteMachina has it changed? I’ll look into it now

Same to you!
Where is the best place to buy my first drum?
Hey Michelle! Direct from ravvast.com . Be sure to use my code REWILD for 7% off!
Is there a way to “bend” the notes (akin to the pitch wheel on a keyboard)?
One handpans, yes, Ravs and tongue drums, no. Simply because of the function of their tuning! Common on handpans to do ding bends, but mostly a small accent.

Is it possible to play the lowest note in the middle without the overtones?
Absolutely, you will always have a bit, but to create a clear note, you would just strike it lower towards the V on it. 🎶🙏
@@ReWildYourSoul Ok, cool!
Oh, by the way, I ordered my first rav drum today!!!!!!!!!!!
I can't wait!

its a great scale!
