This is the best video I have ever seen explaining and showing so many different ways to create a sound on this instrument. I think all beginners and even those of us that have been playing the RAV for awhile should watch this and learn. Thank you.
Kay, thanks so much for this video! It was really helpful to put a name to different effects such as the Filtered Stroke, and I send new players here often to help them get to know their pan. I hope you keep composing! :)
WOW Thank you. You remind me what made RUclips so great. Thank you for blowing my mind and sharing these amazing techniques. I am litteraly blown away 😍
Besten Dank für dieses tolle Tutorial - eins der ausführlichsten Videos was die Möglichkeiten angeht verschiedene Sounds erklingen zu lassen! Vielen Dank dafür
Very interesting! I just tried getting a lot of different sounds out of my Rav ten minutes ago, and now this video pops up:) It's immense how many sounds the Rav hast to offer, great tutorial!
I am so excited to aquire a RAV drum sometime soon, but right NOW i am more interested in a close up on that bracelet! It's beautiful! Fantastic video! Very educational and helpful.
Thank you for this tutorial .I just recently got my first RAV drums and I absolutely love them. It's amazing how many different sounds can be achieved by experimenting with technique.
I purchased the B minor Celtic and G pygmy drums. The b minor Celtic has a more natural feel that seems to make it instantly playable. The g pigmy takes some getting used to. What I like about combining them is you can get tones between the b minor scale for interesting effect. I will be going for a d major next because it is the relative major of b minor. Most importantly, just make sure to have a lot of fun playing them.
Some of those techniques created sounds that immediately made me think of The Chemical Brothers "Star Guitar" ... that's an amazingly versatile instrument
Thank you for the great video! Very interesting. I try to geh higher note like in 8:04 but I can do it only on sow tongs. Does is mean my rav is broken or is it too new and the tongs will become more flexible with the time? I can't reproduce it on higher but alsobon some lower notes.
Excellent tutorial! I loved how you demonstrated the technique and then used them along with the others so that us neophytes can really see and hear it in context!! I hope you continue these wonderful well thought out and easy to follow tutorials. If there is anyway to flip the camera so that the viewer can see the RAV from the playerr’s angle that would be incredibly helpful. Also if you aren’t in my Rav Music Group on Facebook I’d like to extend an invitation.!! It was the first of its kind dedicated to this amazing instrument. Thank you again!
Incredible pristine sound and playing, totally inspiring! Is this related to Rav Vast & Hang Drum Sample Pack? I need to get a sample library with RAV Vast drum. Where would I find it? thanks for share this, Master.
Hello, im a Rav drum beginner and played about 2 hours at Sunday. Today my side thumb hurts horrible and i dont think that i play massive hard. Do you have an idear what im doing wrong? Thank you :)
Great video! Thank you so much for creating this and sharing all this. I have a question for you. Do ever rest your hands and/or arms on the drum during playing or do you keep them off the drum. Sometimes when I play sitting down and leaning over the drum, I find my arms or hands resting on the drum. I would appreciate your Insights around this.
It depends on what I play. Most of the time my hands are above the drum but for some finger techniques it is helpful to leave parts of your hands on the RAV
I’m an engineer so this comment might be a bit techy for artistic types, but I would love to see the electrical signals from the microphone plotted on an oscilloscope. . . basically I’d like to see the shapes of these sounds. 😊👍✌️

Which scale drum did you buy? And did you buy a 2nd one to get more variety?

Meine goldene RAV VAST2 in B bzw. H Celtic Minor ist gestern endlich bei mir angekommen & ich kann nicht aufhören zu musizieren! *_*
Some of those techniques created sounds that immediately made me think of The Chemical Brothers "Star Guitar" ... that's an amazingly versatile instrument

Thank you Maria. I got your idea with another camera view and i will work on it in the next videos!
Excellent video? What scale is this Rav Vast? And what do you recommend for a beginner that has a piano background?
This video is great!
Awesome! Mahalo.
Much appreciated!!
Good lesson! Thank you!
Same to you Pasha! Love your Tutorials too!
Man what an awesome detailed video! Thank you so much! Please can you tell me the scale your using for this video? Many thanks

great
Awesome! Is this the g pygmy?
Hi! I love this video! These are awesome tips. Which scale is this drum that u are using on this video????
Waauw, you're really good, I loved how you made use of the overtones, very inspirational !! Thank you (ps what Rav are you playing here?)
Danke schon von lausanne!
Absolutely brilliant idea to show all the varieties of strokes! What tuning are you using?
Ron Dans i think it's pygmy G
There is a previous answer by him in German that says it’s the A Integral. 😊👍🏻
Hi Kay! thanks for the excellent video, I have no background in drums, there are so many variations of Rav drums. What would you recommend to buy ?
sadish integral is hardest scale I think. The d major is very forgiving scale for everyone in my opinion
Thanks a lot :)
I am curious what rav cast drum scale is this? Amazing tutorial!
It depends on what kind of mood you like. If you have no Idea, with a RUS Scale you will be on the safe side.
Is this a B Celtic or a B Kurd?
Hello, im a Rav drum beginner and played about 2 hours at Sunday. Today my side thumb hurts horrible and i dont think that i play massive hard. Do you have an idear what im doing wrong?
Thank you :)
Tolle Tutorials! Darf ich fragen, an welcher Rav Drum du in dem Videos spielst?
Furyaaan8 Danke Dir! Das ist eine A Integral, Rav1. Wunderschöne Scale! Liebe Grüsse Kay
Ja, ist wirklich sehr schön! ( :

is it G Pygmy? thanx
Its A Integral
