FANTASTIC presentation !!!!!!! Absolutely great show of RAVS scales...THANK YOU !....great sound quality ...great "short" explorations showing the soul of all scales...very very useful video ....thanx a milion . !
thank you for this great comparison of the scales! to me the d major scale sounds the most pleasing, but the b onoleo scale always makes me go wow - its so exciting! i think i will go with the d major though for my first rav, and maybe someday i will get the onoleo.
@@randyllst I don't think that was a fair thing to say, honestly. There is alot that is very, very special about the E low pygmy. I'm sure you've more than enjoyed yours. I was stuck between it and A Marmara for my first. I ultimately went with the marmara, but only because I liked the sweetness of the scale for more hopeless nights. E low pygmy is what made me fall in love with the vast, though.
My new Custom Rainbow Novadrum with burnt varnish finish in C minor is absolutely sublime..It has more sustain than the Rav D.. Absolutely rings! Playing the D and D minor drums together is an education. Yes the more drums the better, i think the next one i will buy is the Rav Vast 2 double ding B minor.. As much as i adore Quint Art sound, it is one step closer to steel drum sound..The Rav and Nova drums still have that piano like ring of steel tongues.. If i could afford it I would buy a Rav in every tuning they make...
Danke ;)
waw this is just awesome to hear all of them when i listen some of them are just catching me like B integral is like african forest at kilimanjaro i feel like i will se a group of gorillas right now B pygmy is souch african sound like some tribal dance C golden gate is like samba festival D major is like cinematographic sound. sounds like rain man theme. i have to get one and i would pick D celtic minor or E low pygmy cuz those 2 are so special
B Onoleo C Golden Gate I'm looking for something that is reminiscent of ancient scales, as found on a Grecian kithara or lyre. (For my own notes and the algorithm, thanks for the video)
Very nice, just subscribed and hit the bell 🔔 I just received my first RAV VAST “A” Rus love it. Trying to find a good harmony RAV VAST to go together with it. Thanks for sharing your thoughts and talents ❤️
Hey Kay, congrats for the beautiful review here and the gorgeous Rav Vasts display's along with the melodies...Fascinated by this instrument, I wonder what would you suggest for a first Vast? Thanks! 😊
Difficult question. I play a lot on my d Celtic minor, the G Pygmy and the A minor. ( The 3 I bought first). Im a bit more in the RAV1 because I prefer the thinner sound of the body but at the end, i love them all :-)
Alright thanks for the answer, I bet its really hard to choose between all these wonderful scales! I'm trying to decide between the B/D celtic minor scales, its such a hard choice, I really love the tone of both, maybe the B a little more, but I got a Pygmy and my friend got the A integral+B onoleo, and I've heard that the D celtic minor works well with Pygmy/integral....choices are hard : (
:-) in is! At the end its all about feeling. About the B or D celtic: If you are more in deeper scales definitely choose the B celtic, if you like high notes the D might be the right one. The D sounds pretty high, and in a way close a handpan. I like both of them..
Yea, I do kind of prefer the sound of the B celtic but at the same time I really do enyoy playing with my friends so having a more compatable scale would be preferable. Truely a wonderful problem to have, to have to chose between these two almost equally beautiful scales ^^ The B seems very good "all round" and easy to compose on with the notes avaivable, very versitile so to say, do you think it's the same with the D? Maybe it's a bad question considering they all got the same amount of notes, sort of.
I lose control on my G Pygmy, I have a C golden Gate & a D Celtic minor that are quite dreamy & magical sounding, i also think the A Rus may be good for magical dreamy forest 🌳 But I must say the ultimate scale is … that new F Astronaut, it’s a F2 Low Pygmy scale and it’s something else. .
I am an absolute beginner in playing music, I just bought a B Celtic Minor and I am so in love with it, that's why I already dream about a 2nd one, because I also liked G Pygmy, A Intagral and E Low so much...what would you suggest? (I want a different sound as 2nd and not to combine the two.)
Thank you for this very helpful and enjoyable video! :-) I was about to order one of the Celtic Minor, maybe the Double Ding, but I really liked the Onoleo now too! I have to think about it for a while.
Anyone familiar and knowledgeable who can answer, please do: I have always preferred music in a minor key. I would be a total beginner, and am wondering the best way to strive long-term for skill enough to play the Onoleo, the Arabian Nights or similar. Your site suggests (I think) G Minor pentatonic and G Pygmy, and D Celtic Minor as the best for beginners. I don't have a favorite among those like I do the long-term "dream" ones. I like the B Kurd, the B rus, B Pygmy, B Integral. and the other Pymies, and B Integral fairly well. I am wondering whether there are 2-3 different ones that if I bought them in sequence over time would allow for the stages of development but be in that same mood of mysterious, mystical, mesmerizing, melancholic mood? That would end with the Onoleo or Arabian? Also, is there a unifying aspect of the layout such that moving form one to the other won't take an even longer time to learn than starting with the harder one to begin with? I have problems with spatial relationships--left, right, timing, etc., and if a particular note was in a very different place than on a differently-scaled version, it would be like starting a new job in a big office building where the big and more complicated layout was a lot like your old one but not very. I'd be getting off the elevator on my "old floor" every day for weeks. If I hade worked 6 different somewhat-but-not-totally similar places, I'd recognize the universal similarities and the rest would be sorted more quickly. Is it like that, much less of a problem once skills become at least intermediate? Thanks for any advice you may have!
Wie immer klasse! Danke! Ich würde mich über ein Video freuen, wo du erklärst, welche RAVs gut zusammen passen. Außerdem: Welche Ständer verwendest du bei Rav Drums?
Great video, thanks for taking the time to break down each scale and showing the potentail of each one! Im a complete noob to music and Ravs but can anyone tell me the the difference between 'B celtic minor' and 'D celtic minor' I love them both but dont know which one to purchase. Is the B deeper sounding? Any info from anyone would be great :)
I know this is an old comment, but I hope I can help! I'm actually torn between the two as well, I love both of them and I don't know which one to get either. D celtic minor and B celtic minor are the same scale, but different notes. The notes for D celtic minor are D3, A3, C4, D4, E4, F4, G4, A4, C5 (D, A, C, D, E, F, G, A, C) and there is no B note in it. The notes for B celtic minor are B2, F#3, A3, B3, C#4, D4, E4, F#4, A4 ( B, F#, A, B, C#, D, E, F#, A), so this one has sharp notes in it. It's also lower on the scale than D celtic minor as indicated by the numbering.
@@shadowdroid776 thanks for the reply! Yea awesome your info is spot on!. I end up purchasing the B Celtic, the drum is out of this world and the scale is amazing ✌
Definitely a great video to get some idea, but the sound sounds quite different from what RAV has on their website for example. Why is this? Was it treated with a software or?
And only ONE question...what do You honestly think about new RAVS with "bend , twisted" tongues...like B integral B Onoleo...are they 100 % clear? No cross talk....no interference between notes? My best regards for You and All RAV VAST enthusiats...

Very interesting. Each has their own unique sound.
E low Pygmy is a special one! The most expensive of all the RAVs, but worth it!
It is definitely. But I would buy it as a second RAV, not as the first.
Why's that?
Good question... why do you say so? I have just bought my first rav less than an hour ago and its an E low pygmy.
Very nice video by the way

Did you hear B Onoleo
Definitely a great video to get some idea, but the sound sounds quite different from what RAV has on their website for example. Why is this? Was it treated with a software or?
Seems like this has additional reverb, but this could be because of the mic used, I am not sure.
I'm undecided between Onoleo and Golden Arcadia..... 🤔 It will be my first

I want to get the C golden gate and my friend wants the E low Pygmy, will they go well together? What are your thoughts on these for our first rav?
Amazing. I have just bought E low about an hour ago. My first. Wishing to combine with the C Golden Gate already
Oh it's so hard to decide :( this will be my first drum and I'm a beginner. Can someone help me? All of them sound incredibly great.
Hey. Just ask us. We'll help you!
no Kurd?
What gear are using to record? Are you adding reverb?
Yes. I use logic pro and Neumann microphones. But this one is recorded with the camera microphone and edited with logic pro.
I don't like the added reverb. Kind of gives people a false sense of the actual sound. Sneaky trick to make them sound better
Well, the video is intended to be a "scales Overview" and not a tonal/sustain comparison. I don't think he was trying to trick anyone? :-)
