    Thanks that was very informative!
I didn't thought about muting the note at the same time when playing another one (07:00). This is especially helpful on my B Celtic Minor Double Ding because the first ding has very long sustain and when I play the second one right after the first one it's kind of "dissonant". Muting it makes it sound much better. Also like the piano sustain pedal analogy :)

    Great Video.
Can you please be so kind and describe in one of your further videos the "diddle on the middle" you did at 3:22.. A short video about some fun on the middle would be really great.
    Thanks and regards from Germany

Thanks, Amy! This is a solid sound tutorial for the rav. My favorite sounds to play with are the mutes and harmonics, especially on the G Pygmy. You can get some really nice harmonics on the peripheral notes by lightly placing a finger just below and right of the V while striking the narrowest part of the left wing. It's tricky to find just the right spots, but it can make a much higher and purer sound than hitting the main part of the left wing, and it reminds of the high harmonics that some handpan players like to use while ding bending.
It's crazy how you can spend years playing with these and still be learning something new. They're fabulous instruments!

Nice! Yeah there's so much fun to be had with harmonics on these instruments, so rich. I could definitely spend a LOT more time with it 😍

What an excellent tutorial from a proper musician. I love it. I can’t wait to see more from you. Perhaps you should look into striking the tongues in order to activate the other harmonics hidden there? The 5th is particularly interesting as it opens up the possibility for ‘new’ notes on your drum that don’t exist in fundamental form.

another fun texture can be using your nails to pick/pluck the sides/opening of the cuts.

Do you prefer to play on nitrided steel or stainless? To me, even though the stainless steel may have better volume and sustain, there is a brightness to the percussive hit and also quite a lot of overlapping resonances / frequencies that make it sound less clean. Interested in your thoughts as I'm ordering 2 handpans from Meridian!

It completely depends on my mood and what I'm playing for. Generally, I play stainless because a lot of my playing is quite spacious, and leaving room to support my voice. But when I'm in the mood to groove... nitrided all the way! I currently only own stainless instruments and it's always a blast when I get to borrow a nitrided pan
