My experience with STALKER has been limited to the first game's title screen. Got it years after release and it still had a 100% crash rate within seconds of starting. I have read _Roadside Picnic,_ though. Damn good. Thankfully books don't crash.
I had some of those issues on my pc but after I updated my drivers for my GPU and CPU they went away. Most people don't do their updates and blame most games that come out as buggy. Thank go that the only company that doesn't ever have bugs is Bethesda because they come out with "features" not "bugs" on all theirs games.
This game is one that is better to wait a month or 2 to buy or clean up your play list back log on gamepass. Amazing foundation, about 3-4 patches away from being at a level of stability to keep you consistently hooked into the level of immersion its aiming for. The sad thing is, if they wouldve waited until the new year, it would be a very strong GOTY candidate.
Easy to differentiate the people who HAVE played a STALKER game before and those that haven't, STALKER doesn't appeal to a super wide audience because it is very unforgiving and tends to be buggy. Think of it like a Bethesda RPG but with the difficulty cranked up by 500% from the hardest difficulty. Everything I have heard even in the negative reviews I have been watching makes it clear that this game is exactly what I was waiting for and I am sure that is the case for other long time fans as well.
11-ish hours in and Bloodsuckers are currently the bane of my existence. I hate them so much. They're everywhere, and there's thousands of the bastards.
Honestly, I’m just kind of aggravated that we have lean mechanics but not prone. The ai are really smart which is cool, but often times they can see me thru cover and find me anyway
After the prolouge i helped some dude out but my screen keeps getting locked on the house and everytime i look elsewhere it forces me back, i cant even progress past this point and its almost like my mouse just stops working in the house entirely, idk whats goin on man
I'm sure not getting to sleep enough to be able to play only in the day is on purpose. It's more immersive and realistic if you have to be out at night too. Maybe they could have included a time of day control like some games have so you can play how you want but I don't know. I'm kind of a fan of more curated experiences where you have to deal with things as they are. It's part of the fun and challenge.
tbf I can control when I go to sleep so I can be out during the day. That is a survival mechanism, choosing the safety of light over the low visibility of night.
Im so grateful for the devs of this work, its buggy but which STALKER wasnt. Give it a couple months for devs to work out the bugs and start working on their DLC's. As of performance, im just happy I get more FPS now than when CallOfPripyat came out.
Series s is an interesting experience so far. Frame is to be expected but imma have to get used to these controls, having a hard time dialing the aiming and moving and what not
Im never gonna turn off things that help me in a game, just doesnt make sense and it's anti gamer. Having the option to not have something doesnt negate the criticism
Only issue I’m having on console is that there’s a stick drift on controller and it’s not about brand new pristine controller vs used controller, they must have set the dead zone to 0.
waited years for this game only to not be able to play it because of all the performance issues, hopefully it gets fixed soon im dying to play it but js cant with the state its in right now
There was no beds in the first game. Strelok doesnt sleep. I suspect there will be a mod very soon to adjust Day/Night and Weather...Great pre Review none the less Cap.
I had my game crash a few times. One of the crashes was a hard lock up in the tech trader menu had to restart computer because was seeing some strange behavior. They will get it ironed out eventually.
Game still needs some work, especially on consoles, aiming feels floaty, no settings to counter stick drift, textures act weird etc… If they put the work into it the game could be solid for sure.
STALKER History repeats itself, the original SOC was in eternal development hell, followed by the Clear Sky CTD fest (Crash to desktop) and finished by the awesome Call of Pripyat. I encountered every emotion playing those three and after all those years I expect nothing less but a lot more of all of the above. STALKER is in every sense a different, frustrating and often hostile world. If that is too much and you believe it is too broken just wait for the DEVS and mod community to fix it. For me? Can't wait to go in and accept what it is.
So it needs a patch or two to fix apparent issues (sound bugs, enemies seeing through walls, etc) to work. At least they aren’t charging us with mappacks and skins.
this is my first stalker game so im really exited to explore the world but god damn the performance issues is nuts i get frame drops that makes it physically impossible to play
Overall, this looks and feels like STALKER, so I’m pretty happy with this launch. Bugs and issues that can all be fixed are fine, had it been a bad game, well that would have been quite something else.
I can’t wait for modding….please for the love of god allow me to harvest mushrooms and harvest mutant parts! Permanent companions, faster enemy ai respawn timer, full loot drops, better compass, add a skill tree, no friendly fire,…..coop, coop, coop, for the love of god add coop
STALKER has always been Eurojank, bugs are almost a feature. This is essentially what I was hoping for as a long time fan. I will definitely buy this game.
Much like other released games it’ll have its bugs and problems right now my biggest problem is the dead zone on controller I thought people were just complaining but it’s legitimately a problem compared to other games
this game has been in development for over 15 years with them teasing release then pushing it back every year... there is absolutely ZERO excuse for any sort of incomplete or buggy content at this point.
@@guts2186That's still 6 whole years. Considering the Ukraine war we may deduce first 8 months of the war when they developed the game under harsh conditions but they did eventually move out of Ukraine. So overall they still had somewhat 5 and a half years to make this game and yet they released it broken.
Every UE5 game runs like trash but this is up there with the worst. It's on UE 5.0 not 5.4 which fixes a lot of CPU issues. DLSS is making no FPS difference so something is wrong. Turning on FRS Frame Gen 3 suddenly boosts to over 100 FPS, which is weird on a Nvidia card, but the game FEELS so sluggish at all times like there's massive input lag, and the stuttering is bad
If you're on PC and see this comment; If you have problems with FPS, set all graphics to medium, disable all VSYNC, DLSS as you like, cap frame 60, ENABLE FSR 3. I went from choppy, janky frames to 100fps pretty steadily. It could work, it might not. It's worth a try.
10:18 visual feast?!?! Calling the game a 'visual feast' feels a bit reductive when you consider the deeper context of STALKER and its roots in Roadside Picnic. The series thrives on the interplay between the stark, desolate beauty of its world and a dark, ironic humor-a reflection of the modern slavic-paneuroasian mentality that finds levity in the face of hardship. When you consider the current conflict in the region and the real-life losses among the developers, the game’s visuals aren’t just eye candy; they’re part of a narrative that mirrors both the beauty and peril of the world its creators know so intimately. Perhaps 'a roadside picnic for the eyes' captures this better-evoking moments of uneasy respite amid chaos.
Ah a lot of these things are small none game breaking things. I can live with small bugs and little hiccups that might mean reloading a save or restarting the game. If these are all that's is to worry about, IMO there isn't much of anything to worry about. This shit will get patched out, fixed, or modded into submission soon enough. Im just glad after 15 years of waiting its here and its not a complete let down of a launch. Go GSC

STALKER for some reason was one of the only games that despite the bugs breaking certain sections. I still loved almost every moment of it. Hopefully Stalker 2 is good enough that the bugs dont ruin the fun
10:48 "I was unable to control how long I slept, sometimes I would wake up and it still would be dark out" story of my life...
"Neither pray I for these alone, but for them also which shall believe on me through their word;
That they all may be one; as thou, Father, art in me, and I in thee, that they also may be one in us: that the world may believe that thou hast sent me.
And the glory which thou gavest me I have given them; that they may be one, even as we are one:
I in them, and thou in me, that they may be made perfect in one; and that the world may know that thou hast sent me, and hast loved them, as thou hast loved me.
Father, I will that they also, whom thou hast given me, be with me where I am; that they may behold my glory, which thou hast given me: for thou lovedst me before the foundation of the world.
O righteous Father, the world hath not known thee: but I have known thee, and these have known that thou hast sent me.
And I have declared unto them thy name, and will declare it: that the love wherewith thou hast loved me may be in them, and I in them.

The OG Stalker actually didn't have beds :d
Commenting from my toilet.

This comment is still more of a contribution than any “first” comment will ever be. Your commitment to excellence shall not go unnoticed, sir. o7
Your phone has poop on it. Don't rub your eye after.
There’s beds you can sleep in at every major base. That’s how you get day time whenever you want.
My experience with STALKER has been limited to the first game's title screen. Got it years after release and it still had a 100% crash rate within seconds of starting.
I have read _Roadside Picnic,_ though. Damn good. Thankfully books don't crash.
It’s unplayable on PC unless you have a 4090. This game isn’t finished
II have a 4070 super oc, at 4k and everything on epic, I get 98 fps
time to upgrade the GTX 1080 mate.
@@Dmatrio post footage on youtube then, and go to a settlement as well
I had some of those issues on my pc but after I updated my drivers for my GPU and CPU they went away. Most people don't do their updates and blame most games that come out as buggy. Thank go that the only company that doesn't ever have bugs is Bethesda because they come out with "features" not "bugs" on all theirs games.
Cope
I have a 4060ti and I guess I’m fortunate because the game runs fine. 120fps on high graphics settings.
gonna try this game again tomorrow, I couldn’t even get past the first enemies. Some type of difficulty curve in this game is fierce.
Have you tested with the day 1 patch? Did it actually fix anything?
hi, do you recommend starting from earlier versions of the game first? As in should i get the steam bundle and play those first?
Most people dont realize, once its modded... it will be one of the best games this year.
Crazy how all review channels have a complete different view on the game. Some hate it, some love it.
Played about an hour before I had to go into work. Already in love with it, can’t wait to play more tonight when I get home.
Honestly, I’m just kind of aggravated that we have lean mechanics but not prone. The ai are really smart which is cool, but often times they can see me thru cover and find me anyway
After the prolouge i helped some dude out but my screen keeps getting locked on the house and everytime i look elsewhere it forces me back, i cant even progress past this point and its almost like my mouse just stops working in the house entirely, idk whats goin on man
Love the review. Really spoken like a true stalker veteran.
Frame is to be expected but imma have to get used to these controls, having a hard time dialing the aiming and moving and what not
I think I’ll wait a little on this one, but there really does look like there’s something special here for sure!
People are already complaining about encumbrance. They would riot without a compass. I say let them weed themselves out.
Funny enough, I've been playing 6 hours so far on High, and 0 crashes or noticable bugs, except one dog phasing through the wall in a building.
Excited for mod tools to make this even better.
I had my game crash a few times. One of the crashes was a hard lock up in the tech trader menu had to restart computer because was seeing some strange behavior. They will get it ironed out eventually.
Game still needs some work, especially on consoles, aiming feels floaty, no settings to counter stick drift, textures act weird etc…
If they put the work into it the game could be solid for sure.
STALKER
History repeats itself, the original SOC was in eternal development hell, followed by the Clear Sky CTD fest (Crash to desktop) and finished by the awesome Call of Pripyat.
Lesser systems. So GPU wise, what would you recommend for Stalker 2?
Nvidia 1060 or amd equivalent will be fine. You need at least 4 gigs of vram too.
a 4090
Its giving radioactive apocalypse Skyrim
The only “anomoly” I hate is this huge fps tank that has affected a save so I had to load a previous save to fix it
The fact I opened gamepass and saw this game on there. It’s gonna be great for me.
I’m having enemies spawn right on top of me, I’m getting 120-200 fps and enemies are just dropped right where I’m walking
i'm so glad i never had any of these issues when i was able to play
So it needs a patch or two to fix apparent issues (sound bugs, enemies seeing through walls, etc) to work. At least they aren’t charging us with mappacks and skins.
this is my first stalker game so im really exited to explore the world but god damn the performance issues is nuts i get frame drops that makes it physically impossible to play
No wonder there's no escaping this world. The environment is far more disgruntled in nature than you could expect.
I've never played STALKER and I don't really care for the whole "anomalies" vibe,
but I think I'll have fun with it nonetheless.
STALKER has always been Eurojank, bugs are almost a feature.
This is essentially what I was hoping for as a long time fan. I will definitely buy this game.
That’s sad
yeah using that as a defense for Bethesda really helped improve them overtime....
Remember it's also on PC GamePass, but this version may not be as mod friendly.
And nowadays with new games we also get Westernjunk
Much like other released games it’ll have its bugs and problems right now my biggest problem is the dead zone on controller I thought people were just complaining but it’s legitimately a problem compared to other games
The out of memory errors are annoying and so are all the people claiming its a bios or other pc issue. its not its a faulty game release.
I'm surprised Stalker found its way to Mr. Cap but I love to see it
IDGAF how many bugs it's got I WANT TO PLAY! I also know this game will be modded for the next twenty years so.... yea...
if i remember zone was created by failed scientist experiment , not chernobyl .
this game has been in development for over 15 years with them teasing release then pushing it back every year... there is absolutely ZERO excuse for any sort of incomplete or buggy content at this point.
Wrong it was planned to release in 2012 but it was cancelled. In 2018 they started to develop the game.
I’m gonna get this but I’m new to the series, is it necessary to play the other games first? If so where do I start?
If you're on PC and see this comment;
If you have problems with FPS,
set all graphics to medium,
disable all VSYNC,
DLSS as you like,
cap frame 60,
ENABLE FSR 3.
I went from choppy, janky frames to 100fps pretty steadily. It could work, it might not. It's worth a try.
I still can't believe a game like this is on console .. and on game pass. 5:30 can't come fast enough 🙌
I wish there was a takedown system, swiping your knife at someone’s back 6 times is pretty lame
Apparently there is, it's just super buggy
Cant Wait to see what mods bring to the table!!!
Perhaps 'a roadside picnic for the eyes' captures this better-evoking moments of uneasy respite amid chaos.
is the game suitable for casual or is it difficult like the old stalker ?
Once a stalker, always a stalker 🐺
Modders! Work your magic! 😎
Stalker SoC is in my top 5. Definitely going to be checking this out
The zone looks so pretty in 15 fps
Continue to delight us with your unique ideas. Your videos are a true inspiration.◾️🐣🍆
Go GSC
5:11 so its Fallout 4 in cool? :D
