சிதம்பரம் நடராஜர் கோயிலை சுற்றி பல பழமை வாய்ந்த கோயில்கள் உள்ளன. அவற்றில் ஒன்று சிதம்பரம் மையப்பகுதியில் அமைந்துள்ள திருப்புலீச்சுரம் கோயில். சிதம்பரம் ஸ்தலத்திற்குரிய தீர்த்தங்கள் பத்து. இதில் நான்காவது தீர்த்தமாகிய வியாக்ரபாத தீர்த்தம் இத்திருக்கோயிலின் முன்பு உள்ள திருக்குளம்.திருஞானசம்பந்தரால் திருப்புலீச்சுரம் என்று பாடப்பட்ட திருக்கோயில் 7ம் நூற்றாண்டுக்கு முற்பட்டதாகும். வியாக்ரபாதர் என்ற புலிக்கால் முனிவர் ஆன்மார்த்தமாக பூஜை செய்த தலம் திருப்புலீச்சுரம் கோயில். இக்கோயில் மூர்த்தி,தலம், தீர்த்தம் மூன்றாலும் சிறப்படையுது.சிதம்பரம் நடராஜர் கோயிலில் இருந்து மேற்கு பகுதியில் சுமார் அரை கிலோ மீட்டர் தூரத்தில் இக்கோயில் உள்ளது. சிதம்பரம் ரயில் நிலையத்தில் இருந்து சுமார் 2 கிலோ மீட்டர் தூரத்திலும், பேருந்து நிலையத்திலிருந்து சுமார் ஒன்றரை கிலோ மீட்டர் தூரத்திலும் உள்ளது இக்கோயில். சிவனடியார்கள் பலர் போற்றி வழிபட்ட கோயிலாகும்.
