    JET SCREAM!!!!! I rode this countless times when it was at Six Flags St. Louis in the early-mid 80s....was so sad when they relocated it to AstroWorld (and renamed it Viper)....good memories!

      I was watching an old episode of "Evening Shade" on tv, and was very surprised when they actually mentioned Astroworld.

      Hello kaitlyntaylorhomes 🙋‍♂️ I only rode on that ride once it was back in 2000 I remember it sure was a short ride but fun for me at the time then many years later heard they closed down astroworld when I was living in San Antonio

    As a former ride op. I filmed the demo of the park. I have nuts and bolts of many rides including this one and Greezed Lightning. Factiod AstroWorld was the only theme park to have 3 operating Schwarzkopf coasters. GL, Viper & Taz's Texas Tornado. They were all close in proximity in the park. Western Junction, Oriental Corner & Mexicana. They closed in 2005 with two as Tornado went to California.

    I have never been to astroworld sadly. only drove by it once when i was 6.I grew up going to the six flags in new orleans and when we evacuated to houston for katrina it was about a month before the park shut down. my dad went back in the 70s and 80s and I wanted to go but we couldnt due to lack of funds. sad that I never got to go in person

    This was my first "big kid" ride growing up in Houston. I wanted to ride the viper sooo bad because I thought there were TV screens inside of the tunnel. Lol highly disappointed!! But I was hooked on roller coasters after this. I will miss astroworld

      I was 5 years old. I'm from New Orleans and we would come here, but I never got on anything "big". I was too scared. And I thought there was fire inside the tunnel. My cousins would go on and I would just marvel at their braveness.

    My first ever rollercoaster was the Titan at six flags over Texas when i was like 8 and it traumatized me and I was terrified of rollercoasters for years. But we went to astroworld a couple years later and THIS rollercoaster was the one that got me over my fears of rollercoasters and I rode it like 10 times. Now I absolutely love rollercoasters. RIP astroworld.

    I didn’t ride it often because at the time I wasn’t a big roller coaster fan but I did ride it a couple of times. One of my big regrets was never riding the Cyclone. I was just short of 11 years old when they tore it down.

    Rode that coaster when it was brand new as "Jet Scream" at Six Flags Over Mid America (now Six Flags St Louis). It did not have the tunnel. It was a delight to reunite with it at Astroworld! Big bummer to lose both the park and coaster.

    Blame Houston for killing Astroworld. Instead of using the money to revamp the Astrodome they built Relient. Loss of parking killed sales. Now the Astrodome is in ruins as well. Very sad, The Viper was my frirst rollercoaster ever. I wish I would of made it to the auction where they sold the signs etc. It will be missed.

      I really don't understand why no one wants to build a major theme park in Houston. It's a no brainer for printing money. 4th largest city in the US with a young population full of families and no major theme parks nearby for competition.

    • @philtll
      @philtll 2 года назад

      @@johnychen building a ground up theme park is a *huge* investment, hundreds of millions, and unfortunately, Six Flags is still the dominant chain in the region. They're skittish about ever going back to Houston, in part because SFOT and SFFT draw a large amount of Houston families.
