Man.. looking at the videos from Astroworld brings back SOO many memories from when I was a kid!!
I Bet Glove World from SpongeBob had their own Ultra Twister at one time.
rescuehero942 What makes you think that?
it’s probably a joke but yeah
This was my favorite ride as a kid. I loved it. This and Greased Lightning
Rode this once.....once was enough! The thrill of that ride still gives me chills! Absolutely breath-taking! And yes, I miss Astroworld dearly!
I sure do miss Astroworld. I use to go there all the time when I was a kid. I'm glad me and my husband decided to go not long before it closed. We rode every single roller coaster there. I wish I could have the opportunity to go there with my kids.
I rode that back in '86 at Great Adventure. Well worth the wait in line. :)
This coaster was ground breaking in so many ways.
I have so many videos of Astroworld back in 1996-98... doing the exact same thing- videoing from the first seat w my girlfriend... sad to hear that it's gone... I remembered the dance club that opened up at 8pm... good memories.
Thank you! By viewing this video, I can experience the thrill again! I rode this Ultra Twister twice long time ago! (around 1994 & 1995)
Such a deeply uncomfortable experience but also so fun. I used to just get right back in line after riding this and go over and over until my sister forced me to go on other rides at Astroworld when we were little.
This thing was amazing! Traveled from Dallas to stand in line for 3 hours to get on this thing! Back then it was worth the wait! NOW...FAST PAST Platinum is everything at Six Flags!
The reason why the line was long was because the capacity was awful
My son and I used to ride all of the roller coasters at Astroworld. Great memories. I sure do miss going every summer.
Moving conveyor! please! watch! your! step!! Damn that chit was annoying I can still remember, but now I miss it 😭
Loved this ride as a kid! Thanks!
Boy! this takes me back .
Wow........talk about needing a paint job.
It got one later on fortunately
Thanks for the memories!!
The one in Maryland is this ride. I few years before Astroworld closed, Ultra Twister got a much needed paint job. I hate that since the park closing no other parks rebuilt this coaster. Its just been sitting in a field. I highly doubt the future of this awesome and unique coaster.
Thank you Rob for posting this. I am wondering if your going to be going to the new Pleasure Pier in Galveston off of the Seawall
why did astro world have to close. they moved a great roller coaster called jet scream from six flags st. louis, which i would have totally gone on there and repainted and renamed it viper, and then they closed down a perfectly good park. What a waste.
i used to love this one
I loved this ride. Wish it would have been longer. Tahnks for the post!
I was able to ride this twice, it broke with us on it, night time, we got stuck at the very top of the incline, were there about 45 minutes. I didn't worry until I saw teenagers headed up each side stairs up to us with harnesses, Ummm NO THANK YOU. I told them the better get it working or call the fire department! LOL! No way was some kid going to help me out while inverted the sky was straight head and way high up. Luckily they got it going and was one of the best coasters I have been on. We quickly rode again, the the park was closing for the night. I believe this was 98 or 99. I was sad to hear of its demise. Another theme park could have snatched that up for cheap and had an awesome coaster.
This teens are ops and there trained for that
Six Flags America almost snatched up this ride after Six Flags AstroWorld closed. Unfortunately, by the time Ultra Twister got to Maryland, it was reported to have been damaged during the move and sat unassembled for years in an empty field by the park before eventually being scrapped. That's too bad, too; the US could still have had a unique ride on hand!
One Park actually did snatch it up.. but while moving it.. was damaged beyond repair 😕
My last visit to the US was in 1999. I should go again...
Well don't come for Astroworld cuz it's closed down. Lol.
WHOS WHATCHING 2018
Makes me very mad to see this. I was on that ride about 5 years before this video was shot, and it didn't look so dirty and run down. I don't know what happened to the ownership, but they really let the park go to crap, and fast. Guess somebody wanted the land really badly.
And yet it sits empty, to this day!
@djslipside. Ikr. This was one of my favorites when I used to go there in the 90's.
I rode this with my little brother in 1992. The look on his face when we were going up was pure terror 😂😂😂
@nstrikefromnerfhaven No idea. Looks perfectly fine on my screen.
I assume you mean the type of ride (Togo Ultratwister)? There are a few left operating, all in Japan.
astroworld by travis is out noowwww!!
TheLittleThings36 NOOOOW......is him and Kylie gonna build a new Astroworld? If so ,where?
If Travis builds a new Astroworld that's like the old one then I'll buy every album he has ever released
First real rollercoaster I ever rode was there. The Viper.
Are there any of these "Ultra Twister" Roller coasters left in the us?
No
Nope, this was the only one of its kind in the US. You have to go to Japan to ride this kind of ride.
Ben Raber this one was scrapped unfortunately
I don't know if it closed yet but viper at six flags great america
rip xxxtentacion legends never die Different Viper
How old is this footage
I miss astroworld so much ride this one time the last year
I mean it's in storage at Six flags America, why not just put it together. I mean, all six flags america is is relocations and clones, so another won't hurt.
It was scrapped in 2010 it's long gone
OneAndOnlySound yes true I found out just recently when six flags re aquired darien lake they scrapped the ride that’s been rotting for over a decade
The ultra twister sure did a number on your shoulders.
I had season pass at waterworld, certain days they would let you go to astroworld free. Amazing experience.
They should have kept it open
GD foof48 Yeah...too bad this is gone, along with the rest of Astroworld😟
Well I wish they did and all he rides that were there!
Man, I miss Astroworld. I remember walking below that ride all the time, using the employee underpass to the back area of the park when I worked there as a teenager. Houston sure is better off with an empty ass field instead of an amusement park, right?
I must have ridden that ride a hundred times. I mostly hated it and it gave me a huge headache every time I rode it. But I would give my left arm to ride it now, because it would mean Astroworld is open again. :(
The reason why I play roller coaster tycoon because of this!
i love this ride wow i hate astroworld is gone
if I had a time machine...
is there still this type of coaster around the world ?
Yes some in Japan and at Nagashima spa land.
Great ride once it got going but the chain lift was brutal.
i am ten and my dad topd me of astro world i wish it was still here
Why does it have to be Bob Barker who serenades me with his "Moving conveyer, please watch your step" spiel?
I rode this in 1991 when it was brand new to Astroworld, and I rode it in 2005, its final season :(
Most uncomfortable ride I've ever been on. The seats with the shoulder restraints were horrible. I was a pretty small kid even and still I just remembered it being uncomfortable as all heck.
I was there
I remember this ride very well. I was only 7 at the time and was to young to get on. I always wanted to get on this ride :(
It sounded like it was time to retire that ride well before it was filmed
my gf loved it
@killertweety Ohhh alright, thanks man.
Ultra Twister Roller Coaster POV Joplin 1995 On-Ride
Anyone else looking for an on-ride of it from Great Adventure?
This park closed in October 2005 and I visited Houston in December :(
@bob212777 I meant you know the bar below the video with the screen size, volume, video time, and quality? Everything is squished on the left side on my screen.
This thing looks and sounds like it was about to fall apart at any second
This was the only Ultra Twister to be built in the US............ As a coaster enthusiast i want another built here NOW
Too bad. The manufacturer is dead.
I fucking hated this ride I screamed like a little girl my first time riding
What's wrong with the video layout thing?
but they're not even using it ! It's grass and empty space ! It makes me so sad to see everytime I have to drive by it.
why did they close the ride? cause it was old?
I was only able to get on this ride once because it was always broken :/
Which is probably why Astroworld is closed down. The rides were always shady like that. Haha.
@@CandyisAwesome86 it was relocated from six flags great adventure
I wonder why the vertical lift hill was replaced by a 45 degree one?
this coaster was not demolished it is in storage at the six flags in texas
Tracy Kessinger, It was scraped in 2010, after 5 years of rotting away.
They scrapped it at Six Flags America in 2010. :(
Great times back then.
I remember when this used to be at Six Flags Great Adventure. They moved it to Texas and put a crappy coaster in its spot.
Then put El Toro there
Calling Darth Vader, please watch your step
@cribble2k Look up Pipeline coasters on rcdb.com. Togo built two in Japan, not too sure about this one, did not know one existed outside of Japan.
"I enjoyed Heartline Twister Coaster 1"
Because this was in a tube I always felt safest on this ride it was almost 100 pct you would never get killed on this ride
They need to send this to Six Flags Magic Mountain
lemon lime Est. 2002 It has long since been scrapped, 10 yrs ago, because it was damaged beyond repair when it was shipped to Six Flags America, and rusted away in storage.
Togo probably never would have gotten bankrupt if they gave Knott's Berry farm an Ultra Twister instead of their crappy looping wild mouse
They could have easily saved this one by relocating it to Great America or Magic Mountain.
I remember it going up and I would see straight sky, then the plummet and reverse. Guess, I remember it wrong.
B&M or RMC should make a Pipeline coaster.😊
The only people who rode this lost bets with their friends
world first ultra twister whith 45 degree lift
?
@themeparkreviewTPR Darn, alright well thank you, now I know it's just mine :/
Anyone else feel sick now? I went on a rollercoaster 4 times today with out throwing up. And now im just torturing myself with these vids 😂
Same wish I went here
i remember as a kid that i was going to ride this with my dad but i chicken out...
the park was closed due to traffic
Fortnite astroworld event aka kids these days
Who thinks B&M or RMC should revive this concept?
i agree
@nstrikefromnerfhaven it is old
Ride sucked. Rode it enough times to know.
on the back of the lift...... "made in Japan"
I hated this ride
it's very ugly
Rickety old thing. Glad they tore it down. Lol.
What about the rest of Astroworld tho
gay
Must be talkin bout yaself cause ya DAMN SHO BET NOT be talkin bout THIS ride!!!😣
Sean Lewis learn to spell
Eric Jacobson I spell the way I wanna spell......BAAASTID!!!
Sean Lewis LMAO
Eric Jacobson LOL😣 Just messing with you, man, it's all love. I just regret that I wasn't able to go to AstroWorld when it was open.
I my case, I guess it wasn't meant to be.😢
