I test rode three bikes before making a decision, the Tiger, the VStrom, and the V85TT. I was impressed with the Tiger and liked it a lot, it was quick, light, and nimble. I have a dedicated dual sport so I was looking for something that could take me cross-country and so some basic off road adventuring. Given that I have an excellent local service representative, who actually owns a 660), figured I'd go with the bike I liked the most. It was b/w T7 and the 660 but the height ended up being the difference, along with the added electronics. Appreciate your insight on all these bikes, great to have options. Cheers

Hmmm…I hear good things about the Transalp, especially the engine…but it needs some tweaks for the next gen updates like say…. 19 inch tubeless tire upfront and maybe some visual tweaks so it doesn’t look so plain.
Honestly, Transalp would've been the ideal bike if it had 19" front wheel and CC. This bike isn't made for hardcore off-road anyway, so 21" is wasted on this bike.
I wonder what is it about that 21” front wheel on every single bike on this list. 90 % of riders will never take it off road. And even if they do 19” front is perfectly fine in most of the cases. Suzuki definitely made a good move with V Strom 800.
Is the Africa Twin not considered middleweights? I know its 1100cc but its similar HP, weight and offroad capable to the bikers on the higher spectrum of this list
I think at 200kg the newly unveiled at eicma qjmotor srt 800sx will make headlines with its 94hp and a 6 year warranty absolutely the best middleweight adventure setup of the year so far! (At least For the price it'll cost us)

"Any color you want, as long as it's black" - Henry Ford
Aprilia for the win!!
I test road a few of these and chose 800de in the end
Aprilia Tuareg 660 is my choice
Mine ,too.I'd tested Tenere,Norden 901,Transalp...nope.
Tuareg is better.
Same here.
Until your bike is in a dealership 4 months out of the season
@@gsxrkz I owned an Aprilia Pegaso 650 with a Rotax engine from 1995 to 2009 and never had serious problems with it 🤔
@@MrGichinfunakoshi Different times !
I will be purchasing one here in the next few months I hope. I am leaning toward the Tenere 700 or the Transalp by Honda.
The Desert X is a special bike, I borrowed the standard last year and the rally this year while my Panigale was in for service. Is almost perfect but just too expensive as a green lane adventure bike, so I’ve added the T7 world raid to the garage, just waiting to get out!
The Nord 901 and the KTM 790 are what I'm feeling.
I`ve heard about reøiability-issues with them though..
Great review, very informative, thank you!
Such a packed segment it's so hard to choose. I love the Norden and to a lesser extent the KTM but reliability is the one thing stopping me pulling the trigger. The Guzzi looks amazing to me but I worry is it under powered for spirited road riding (I'm moving on from 20yrs on sports bikes) Need to have some test rides and make a decision!
What do you think about 750gs bmw
tiger 900 rally
Nice video, thank you. Pity those versions of the Yamaha Tenere are not available here in the USA. All the best.
Transalp. That new engine it's a dream .
How about doing a similar video on real everyday “middle weight” bikes rather than weekend warrior wheels.
Gotta go with the flashy, well advertised ones. Keep the industry ticking over ;) I like the Transalp but at 9k - nah it's just a bleedin' bike!
Yeees please
The Ducati Desert X looks amazing
Hmmm? I think it's kinda goofy.
But hey I can't criticize your taste in design.
Honda africa twin basically ruined every other dual headlight design for me.
Interested in the Dugati Dessert X
A lot of people say the v Strom 800' s have bad vibrations at highway speed. True or not?
I would prefer tenere 700
Can’t wait for the day when all drive-by-wire bikes get cruise control as standard…kind of like cars(yeah I’m looking at you Honda/Transalp)
Great review of bikes, I ordered the Tuareg 660, Atreides black. I checked out a lot of different bikes but for the height and power, it made the best option for me. Cheers
Atreides black looks awesome I owned one.. recently I installed the acerbis handguards in black/ red colour and looks even better 👌
These are NOT Middleweight ADV Bikes…they are all 440lb+ (200kg)…that’s pretty much full size with smaller displacement. The only mid-size adv bike that are about 150kg. Please Honda, bring back XR650R (tears dripping).
Great input, maybe they can rename their video. Like best sub 1000cc advs
Agree. What about the tiger 660 or the ever popular Honda 500? I'd say this vid is better named as "best sport tourers for street of 2024"
So true. I want to get back into biking after 30 years and find myself surrounded by bikers who call an 800 cc with 80 horsepower and 220 kg a “beginner’s bike” like everything under a litre and a quarter ton. Crazy!
Exactly, next class up is overweight or super heavyweight.
Agreed, heavy pigs, I’ve owned a few of all of these bikes from midsize to full size and they all suck offroad compared to a single dual sport, a lot of posers out there riding all of them as if they Pol
But the KTM is the Fugliest motorcycle ever made! I still need something that doesn't make me throw up when I look at it. Great review as always. Thank you.
800DE T7 or 790 im stuck between these 3 cant decide which 1 to buy
800DE
800DE. Way less maintenance costs.
Looking forward to the 2025 list in a few months :D
I have a particular issue…I am planning to ride from Manchester to Ljubljana in May and want a bike that suitable for that…but also great for touring the area once I’m here, (I live in Ljubljana now) and will tour (2 up) Italy for the next few years…looked at GS but it lacks road feel…any suggestions?
KTM adventure S or Ducati Multistrada
Try the new V85tt when it comes out in April - I bet you’ll love it.
V-Strom DE in this list, instead of the Desert-X(Wich is not really middle)
Great review
Have to Test the Tenere and the Norden
Bro what do you think about the Versys 650?
I am riding a 300 tricity today, and I want to buy my first motorcycle 🏍️
Thank you 🙏
I have Versys 650 and it is a pretty good bike. I bought it new and did 10000 miles on it in the past 3 years. I usually go for long rides (400 miles a day). I guess, it would be a great first bike. If you don't want to take the depreciation hit, see if you can get a used one.
I enjoyed watching the video today too.
I hope to see another good video next time.
Have a nice day.👍
DR650 all the way!
XR650 . It used to be just XL 600 that was street legal. That's what I had and it was a blast . I could wheelie it for miles. I Got old and broken (& broke) so now on a 09 KLR 650 and it is heavy
BMW fell off the radar for me, but the 900 GS will make me have to do some reading.
Im still waiting for a transalp with DCT and cruise control…
Guess won’t come out until they release a new AT with already 120hp!
Until then I’ll stick with my desertsled
The main issue with the aprillia taureg in the US is no dealerships and the issue with the t7 is we don't anything other than the basic t7.. we don't get the 790 adventure ktm either..
Not true on the 790. Dork in the road just bought it a couple of days ago.
Which one would you suggest between 850GS and 900 GT, as these are the only 2 options available in India?!
Tuareg 660 great value. DesertX if money’s no object. Don’t get why people are willing to pay so much ££££ for the Tenere.
Reliability, simplicity, low cost of maintenance
@@Croth4r All that may be true, but why can’t Yamaha sell the bike for less ££££? Feels to me like they are overcharging. The Honda is more fairly priced and I doubt it’s any less reliable.
@@lgrw660factory Yeah, i also think it's overpriced. They are probably getting away with it because it's so popular and people are willing to pay extra regardless of value of what u really get compared to competition :/
Tuareg is hard to top, especially against a transalp that has an even uglier front end & purposefully built lacking features to prop up the Africa twin
You know why. Because they are posers and don't know better haha.
Hi... you missed the small brands with a big potential: how about the "GasGas 700 Dual Sports" & "Kove 450R Rally" . don`t follow the crowd, instead provide innovation , good luck ;-)
Waiting for KTM 990 Adventure R :)
Is this true? Or just speculation?
@@MrBrenno25 yes it's true
No reservations. The best balance, in all parameters, is for Tenere. As always, Yamaha is neglected, but everyone knows, inside themselves, that it is always the best of all. 🤗
Indestructable and reliable: suzuki vstrom 800de.
I chose a V-Strom 650 for it's bullet proof engine 😊
Hmmm…I hear good things about the Transalp, especially the engine…but it needs some tweaks for the next gen updates like say…. 19 inch tubeless tire upfront and maybe some visual tweaks so it doesn’t look so plain.
Honestly, Transalp would've been the ideal bike if it had 19" front wheel and CC. This bike isn't made for hardcore off-road anyway, so 21" is wasted on this bike.
@@7erdogduI agree. It's more like a long range commuter than an adv.
Fair comment. The AT base model weighs about the same as the VStrom ... 👌
It`s in the same class as the v-strom 1000, so - the heavy-class.
I think at 200kg the newly unveiled at eicma qjmotor srt 800sx will make headlines with its 94hp and a 6 year warranty absolutely the best middleweight adventure setup of the year so far! (At least For the price it'll cost us)
Waiting for the F900GS!
T7 ticks all the right boxes for me.
Where is the CF Moto 800?
apart from maybe the KTM they are still too big and heavy.... the market is missing a lot of revenue from us small guys.... for me Kove 800, lightweight and fast and with quality build....
Desert X or Tenere are for me
All of them are very heavy bikes. I don't know whether or not it's wet weight; if so, only 2 or 3 are acceptable as they weigh around 200-208 kg.
Ktm 890 looks a good buy
890 adventure is what I'm eyeing.
What I choose? Kove 800X Pro …
Ducati has does it again! The Desert X is beautiful!!!
I go for Triumph 😎
I really wish the USA got the top end models of the Tenere 700.
Take a look at the Benelli TRK 702x a lot of bike for not much money .Best selling bike in Italy last year
That bmw looks tasty. Might swap out my 1090 but I doubt it
I love my V-Strom 800DE but the headlight is genuinely terrible. The bike is a million times better than my Triumph 800XC. That bike had serious reliability issues.
Kawasaki KLR 650 is not on the clase list?
I wish I hadn’t traded my Norden 901 now. I traded for a KTM 690 Enduro R. 🏍️💨🏁
