    *Important note I forgot to mention in this video: If you are wanting to use this exact side handle setup, you will need to swap the screws that attach the handle to the rosette adapter. I had a different set from another handle lying around that I swapped in. I believe they are M4 hex screws that are 6mm long.

      @@edxponce Great question. Any of the PD models by Anker seem to be great, however I personally don't love how they don't show the exact battery percentage (they just have 4 dots). One friend has had good experience with this one, however it is a bit bigger than mine, but also double the capacity which is nice: amzn.to/3fc0aFa

    I LOVE this build!!! I intend to go down the V-Mount battery option to power my rig, but I can easily adapt your setup here to accommodate that. I also like how you've set the side handle forward of the camera body, I have a HDMI cable clamp on my cage and so wouldn't be able to mount this particular handle there. There's a couple of other differences with how I rig my system, I like to reverse my top handle so the monitor is a little further from my face, and depending on what I'm shooting I'll have an audio recorder mounted there as well. All in all this was an awesome video to watch and has definitely given me some ideas with regards my own rig!

    Hi Blase, congrats on your new rig. I considering to upgrade aswell. Comming from Lumix GH5s and switching to Fujifilm X-T3 it was a great experience. Especially the color is pleasing with Fuji cameras.

    Just watched this video! Beautifully made! I'd love to hear your opinion on using the Sigma lens with the Fringer adapter, if you use it with manual or autofocus and how do you like it. Also I love the film transition if you could provide any info if that's a paid asset or something you did your self! Keep the content going, love the vibe and the quality!

    • @blasepivovar
      @blasepivovar  Год назад +1

      Thanks Johnny! Yeah maybe I can make a full video on it sometime. I really like it. Both AF + MF work great for me with how I use them. I mostly use zone focusing and set my box where I want it to be searching. Face tracking is also great when filming a single subject. I don't really ever use AF for focus pulls or transitions between things that are far apart.
      I believe the film burn is a free one from Neal Chopra here on youtube. I think he has a video with a download link to it!

    Hey! Great rig! A question, how do you rig it on a tripod since the quick stand doesn't seem to be able to go directly on a tripod? Or is there another attachment? Best!

    • @blasepivovar
      @blasepivovar  Год назад

      Hey great question! The bottom of the quick stand is an 'arca swiss' style plate. My tripods have arca swiss style recievers so it simply attaches on. If your tripod has a different type of plate, you can add an arca swiss receiver. Cheap options would be something like this: amzn.to/3Ir3DKN and a more expensive but really nice option would be bhpho.to/3IkafdP

  • @leanderfalkenberg4308
    @leanderfalkenberg4308 Год назад +1

    Nice rig! I was wondering if it's possible to mount the quick release clamp to the baseplate with more than one screw, as i can imagine it will begin to slide eventually?

    • @blasepivovar
      @blasepivovar  Год назад

      I tightened mine down pretty snugly and haven't had any issues with it sliding as it has some rubber pads that help grip it. I think I have had to tighten it a total of one time since I built it. Might be an issue with mixing Nicyrig and Smallrig parts. Two screws may work if you buy a equivalent Smallrig baseplate instead of the Niceyrig but can't officially confirm! Hope that helps!

    Hey blase how come you secure the arca plate to the rod plate with only the 3/8, dont you have the ability to use the 1/4 as well for more security or do you find you dont need it?

    • @blasepivovar
      @blasepivovar  Год назад +1

      Thanks for the comment! So none of the 1/4's seem to line up otherwise I would totally use both. I tightened the 3/8 down really snug and it doesn't move at all. The plate has some rubber on which helps it grip without slipping. Hope that helps!

  • @mariusmocan8491
    @mariusmocan8491 Год назад +1

    I like the rig, but I think it's a lot of parts to not have a focus gear ring setup on there. Now you have stuff in the way of the lens focus ring, but it's pretty close to the way I would want it for my shooting preference. Currently working on my X-H2s rig design and this video helped.
    Off topic question: Did you update your Andycine/Feelworld field monitor to the latest firmware V2.5.2 and instead of having a black screen when you turn it on it's a white screen?

    • @blasepivovar
      @blasepivovar  Год назад +1

      Thanks for the feedback and glad it helped you in some way! I have never gotten into using focusing gears as I often shoot with AF but I think that is a great suggestion. Best of both might swapping the handle to the right side, and then adding your suggestion. Just an idea.
      As far as the monitor, I need to look into that! I don’t think I have ever updated the firmware so appreciate that suggestion 🤘🏽

      @@blasepivovar This is what I was curious about, I'm looking at building a rig but plan to use vintage manual lenses so would need a focus puller (which smallrig also sells). Curious how it would fit into this build.

    • @blasepivovar
      @blasepivovar  Год назад

      @@ReflexVE I'm sure it would work great placing it on the left side rails and then moving the handle over to the right side rail. You could also get longer rails depending on the length of lenses you are putting on the end. I cannot speak from personal experience as I have not used any focus pulling parts with this rig, but the idea sounds amazing :)
