CYB3RJAKE Yes! Great choice...you can hear the desperation in Freddie's voice, yearning to go on doing his music while knowing the end is coming soon. Great choice for our man to react to.
That's why these reaction videos are fun. We've listened to, and watched this song performed various times, so seeing someone's reaction to it for the first time is like reliving the experience again.
As a 15 year old living on an island in the middle of the Pacific Ocean in 1975....this video clearly blew me away! In a time when instant recording did not exist, Bohemian Rhapsody was forever etched into mind. First time I heard it on radio with my kids was hilarious! All I got was blank stares at our destination. They still remember it. Now...traditional road trip song #1. Lol
I'm a fan of almost every genre of music. In my personal opinion, it doesn't matter what types of music you love or hate, this is one of the greatest, most powerful songs in history. As for the question of "is all their music like this"? Well, yes and no. No, this song is very unique even just looking at Queen. But all of their music was unique and experimental. So in that way, yes. The great thing about Queen was that they did not want to be boxed in by what type of band they were "supposed" to be. They did it all. Without fear.
Bryan West they’re inspirations to all modern day artists regardless of genre since they made it way more popular to merge different styles which was great for music
Indeed but (and thank god for it) they almost always paved they way with rock. So when they did pop it was pop-rock, if they did punk it was punk-rock. The subtle undertone did 2 important things to me 1, it worked as sort of an inner compass. Just cruising aimlessly among destinations is confusing with this you still knew roughly where you were at while exploring completely new territory and 2) those classic Queen rock beats gives every song an energy that never lets you get bored no matter what genre they were currently exploring. ... such friggin legends, what a time to bw alive
This is one of those groups that once you play their hits your like. "OHH SHIT, They made this song, WOW!" Here are other famous songs: We will rock you, we are the champions, Another one bites the dust.
You can't really say Bohemian Rhapsody was ahead of it's time, because it was just this anomaly of musical perfection where there's been nothing really like it before or since.
If you think about it... There should be an alternate universe where Bohemian Rhapsody was released today; and trust me when I tell you that even being released today it would still be considered The Best song ever made. No matter what...
Its not so much "ahead" of its time as it is "outside" of time. There is nothing like it before and there will be nothing like it ever again, its exists only in that specific moment.... a moment that would've come and gone with no one even realizing it ever existed now delicately removed from the time line and frozen solid to be admired by the world.
I Love Queen , I have heard that song 100s of times and every time I listen to it I have an Adrenalin Rush with chill bumps WOW I so love that song and I am 64 years old
Billy Crutchfield I just turned 70. I loved theStones. The Beatles But when I heard Queen I finally knew what Music especially Rock was suppose to sound like. At least we have his albums!
Im a British girl and its awesome to see people who don't know rock music listen to this and appreciate how incredible Queen were. Mercury was an INSANE talented singer and musician. Bravo for reacting to this and understanding that no matter what decade a song was made, its timeless. You recognise talent xxx PLEASE REACT to Dire Straits - Money for Nothing .... Queen - I want to break free
John Silvers his band mates were and he was brought up in Britain. The film is amazing and shows people who don’t know much about queen a little more into their back story x
THIS!! The musicians had to have raw, honest talent. No cheating, no auto tune, nothing. This is why those of us who are older don't have much respect for the newer artists. They rely on technology, not talent. Keep listening, Queen is ridiculously good!!
INFECTED Dissected that’s true but at this point if you’re not using auto tune or any type of computer program to help the music it won’t be considered a polished piece in 2018 which I don’t think is a knock on new artists or really anything that makes old music better, all though in this particular case the song can be considered the best song ever
This song packs more punch than the whole of Beethoven's 5th symphony and does so in 6 or so minutes. Loved your reaction - so much real joy lit up your face. Rhapsody seamlessly blends different song ideas but it has strong cohesion and story throughout. The work is perfect, timeless, and transcends all criticism. The best song ever written sung by the greatest lead vocal ever. PERIOD.
what a fucking band they have up there now. saw Queen at live aid in '85,magnificent and stole the show, and again one year later at the same venue,Wembley Stadium and they were even better.plenty of YT vids on that concert but the crowd was electric.
iconic for many reasons. but what I dont here enough was how HARD it was to make. no cumputers to delete parts and add easily. they had to cut THE RIBBON AND TAPE IT. layer voices over then blend over. much harder back then to make a song like this. ICONIC. dont get me started on the opera part;) hear their other songs.
This is so wild. I've heard this song a million times but watching you experience this for the first time gave me goosebumps, it's soul food to see you fill with so much joy and awe. I smiled like a baby and clapped with you in complete joyous abandon, my eyes welled. Yes *even* through the mk sound bytes which were high level distractions but nothing compared to seeing someone so moved, along with the piece. Thank you
Queen is like the best band ever created, love their music and the way they transition from 1 style to another smoothly in their song, you should listen to don't stop me now too but no need to make a video of it, just enjoy it and don't try to analyse it. :) Edit P.S.: Also loved they din't had auto tune back then it was just raw talent.
@@YourgrandpaGaryBrown I find the musicianship, transformations, and variety of hits to surpass those bands, but total respect to them too. Queen had such cross appeal.
Perhaps one of the greatest tracks ever made never has a song ever had so much theatre in it smh truly exceptional and worthy as one of the best rock songs ever made. Great
This man is the last person on Earth to hear Bohemian Rhapsody. I always think he's trolling with these first time reactions but then I watch the video and realize, "damn, this is really his first time." He's getting his cherry popped over and over again with these songs.
It's not that uncommon for people not to know this song. Especially someone of his age and a hiphop head. This was one of the first songs that introduced me to rock and after that metal. And that was back in 95.
bigmoethedon thank you for saying that it’s no different from hard core rock fans experiencing TuPac for example for the first time a rap fan could say the same if you’ve never listened to greatness like NWA smh it’s crazy how people can be so one sided and in essence but just as uncultured😂😂
Right you are! The 70s and 80s were the absolute best years for rock music and concerts! I saw Queen live in their early years and to this date they're still the best bands with the the greatest front man ever, Freddie Mercury!
I honestly can't believe you've never heard this song before. It's soooo Epic lol. Hell I can't listen to this and NOT think of the movie Wayne's World LMFAO!!!!!! Good times good times lol I had an awesome childhood sorry. But I feel like I was born in the wrong generation too sometimes. But either way I grew up with good tunes and an awesome family that had excellent taste I music.
It's understandable though... Most people these days in the current generation on average only listen to what's in rotation on the mainstream... The classics and greats have to be pointed out to them so they'll know... A public service of great music...
Shadow DarkFyre I totally agree. Music I hate to say is in sad shape. It's hard sometimes for me to listen to anything after the early 2000's. But I'm blessed like I said to have family that had great taste in music... music that stood through time. It's hard however to see where the influence is in some music where they say they were influenced by such bands.
Think alot of people have that feeling of 'missing out' from any generation. I mean, shit. I'm in my 30's now and still have my mother to thank for the memories of all the records she had me listen to. Good music that catches your ear is out there, you just need to work for it more now it seems
You young people continue to surprise me. I can't believe that you haven't heard these songs they are over 40 years old. Do you know a lot of the songs you listen to today were made from these songs. For example, listen to the song Queen made called under pressure, you will see where Vanilla Ice got Ice Ice Baby from
@@charitizzle6028 I feel you, I'm 47. Our generation has seen the best music and changes in music that will never be repeated. What an awesome experience to tell those who don't know.
@@havoc263 so true, but continue to not be afraid of old people's music. It will definitely surprise you. Knowledge is power, so continue learning music history. It's funny and interesting

Love how his face goes from angry to happy as soon as it starts playing this is what Freddy was born to do make people happy and to this day he still does this
I never realized this, for some reason, until now about how the song goes through different stages of self pitty, begging, rage, and then finally acceptance.
Queen is one of the best rock groups in history. Freddy Mercury actually studied opera. That's why he has a great singing voice. You should listen to "Radio Gaga" by Queen. That's the song that inspired Lady Gaga's name.
They made the video so good, spent about 10x the norm, as they knew top of the pops wouldn't play a song that long. And in them days you had a 3h session to prerecorded your nights lip sync performance. As the song is to complex for this, they went all out on the video. And that is what was played. It wasn't untill the last few years of totp that they started having live performances. Iirc the track went down in a live shoot and gave the game away. Probably around the late 90s. By then totp was almost dead anyhow. Due to the 100s of music channels. It was no longer the show it once was. As a kid of the 80s I can recall watching it with my mum eclvery Sunday night.
Hiro Brown this is no bullshit I heard black dog and rock n roll but I had never heard stairway I obviously have now I’ve listened to all their studio albums including coda
I had just started high school when this album was released. So nice to see someone from a younger generation able to enjoy/appreciate what a previous generation grew up with musically. Your facial expressions and comments are very much the same as ours were 40+ years ago while listening to this emotional roller coaster of a song for the first time.
mark carpenter I’m assuming I’m the same age (roughly) as him. I remember hearing this for the first time as a kid. Freddie passed the year I was born. I would’ve loved to see them live, but it’s awesome to see someone enjoy and have a positive reaction to such a good song.
When this came out in '75 NOBODY was expecting to here this. The video existed, but we never saw it The song confused us at first, but before we could object to hearing choir music they dropped the hammer down on us and everything was cool. All their songs are unique, Queen's never played the same song twice.
Watching this, seeing someone hear Bohemian Rhapsody for the first time, absolutely made my day. I saw them live in Boston in 1980, and what you see here is great, but live? They were just... hands down, one of the most amazing experiences you can imagine. I'm so glad you enjoyed this, and thanks very much for sharing your reaction to this classic piece of music.
Bro you sleeping on the Queen Live Aid performance. The live show from that concert, unrivalled by anyone. In terms of live performances Queen and Pink Floyd are the GOAT. Smash this thumbs up for the Queen Live aid concert!

Oh...they are LEGEND....listen to all of their songs ....Freddies voice will never happen again...they all were amazing...the 4 of them made it sound like they had a choir...nope..it was recorded with the 4 of them singing into one microphone!!! What voices...no auto tune back then...live concerts were the best ever...RIP Freddie...miss you......
Songs been around for over 30 years. Glad it's getting the appreciation it deserves. It was about his illness if you listen to the words. It's sad and magnificent all at the same time.
Queen are pure classic, theatrical, operatic rock. They kick ass. For a modern day current version I’d check out Muse songs like Knights of Cydonia, Assassin or New Born.
Bill Braskey I know....but I can’t write an essay on all the influences that they’ve had because it won’t be read. It’d be cool to have reaction to Muse hence.......
Another band with a big fat Queen influence (but a bigger, fatter Bowie one) is My Chemical Romance. It particularly shows in the guitars, and on "Welcome to the Black Parade" where they appear to have set out to do their own version of Bohemian Rhapsody, three-part slow/fast/slow structure and soaring baroque guitar lines and all.
That made me laugh too... cuz there is no band more fitting of this comment. They made anything look easy, as if they were doing mundane everyday activitis
i knew that queen sang bohemian rhapsody but i never knew that freddie mercury is their vocalist..i always heard his name but never knew that he was part of the band until i watched the trailer of the movie...and after that i discover that they have lots of iconic songs that i heard before..thank u for that wonderful movie...i appreciate more of their songs

Freddie Mercury (the singer) & Brian May (guitarist & NASA astrophysics) made a lot of good music, none like this though, that’s a one of a kind masterpiece. the question is do you give other kinds of music a chance as well? Most people I know that listen to rock music have never listened to anything else and treat others who don't listen to their music, like they don't have good taste in music.
@@kezzyttid9125 - I am very well thanks, and you? It's good to hear you are one of those that are open minded and love a broader range of music. A lot of people miss out on the full scope of what music could do to their lives by narrowing their choices and never exploring the unknown. Good for you.

Preston, you are choosing some great stuff mate. Queen is one of the ALL TIME greats. Stand alone, can't be categorized, so ahead of their time. They were a band that everyone in my family loved we could all enjoy even though we all had different tastes in music. Long live Queen!
I saw them in 1979. No other show tops them since. I've seen some greats too. Stones, The Who, AC DC. The Eagles, Paul McCarthy & the Wings Eric Clapton. Black Sabbath, Heart, Pink Floyd, Foo Fighters. Metallica, Red Hot Chili Peppers, Journey, Van Halen, Cage The Elephant, Alabama Shakes. Black Keys, Stone Temple Pilots. Chris Cornell, to long of a list to continue.
I saw them at the Santa Monica Forum on the Night at the Opera tour. It was the peak of their silk-and-satin decadent angels phase. What an amazing show. You're right - nothing ever topped them.
I’m envious! I wish I’d been born a lot earlier to get to witness Queen and other bands in their prime. Some you’ve listed I’ve seen live, but that’s an awesome list of bands to see. And I’m sure there’s more like you said. Awesome!!!

And with perfection.✌🌻🌻

Cristhian Camilo Granados León panic at the disco did a cover to it

Im a British girl and its awesome to see people who don't know rock music listen to this and appreciate how incredible Queen were. Mercury was an INSANE talented singer and musician. Bravo for reacting to this and understanding that no matter what decade a song was made, its timeless. You recognise talent xxx
PLEASE REACT to Dire Straits - Money for Nothing .... Queen - I want to break free
Yes! Queen is amazing. Wish I could have seen them live but he died when I was in diapers :(
Victoria Jane Firth Freddie Mercury was not British but did live in Britain...
Are the Vic Firth drumsticks ( the leading drumsticks manufacturing company in the world ) named after you..??
Victoria Jane Firth ❤️❤️❤️ America and rap fans love Queen where would hip hop be without them
John Silvers his band mates were and he was brought up in Britain. The film is amazing and shows people who don’t know much about queen a little more into their back story x
Plus there were no autotune or harmonising software in the 70's.. We didn't even have computers.. lol
INFECTED Dissected I think the easy way to put it, is if current day artists don’t use auto tune critics will just consider the song produced poorly
thats what I appreciate. ZERO COMPUTERS
Sorry, but I have to correct you on the computers part. We did have computers in the 70s.
PERIOD.

My kids had it memorized by the time they were 3.
It's not that uncommon for people not to know this song. Especially someone of his age and a hiphop head. This was one of the first songs that introduced me to rock and after that metal. And that was back in 95.

Wayne's World! Word.
Think alot of people have that feeling of 'missing out' from any generation. I mean, shit. I'm in my 30's now and still have my mother to thank for the memories of all the records she had me listen to.

And haven't since ;)

There's still nothing like it ... best produced songs ever done by a RAWK band. I really miss them we lost the day Freddy died.
A master piece!

Bill Braskey The cover is actually from 1990, even if it was also included on Garage, Inc., which I guess is why you wrote 1998.
