Guys let me give you some background on the band and this song. Freddie Mercury is the lead vocalist and plays piano and guitar. He has a 4 octave vocal range. He is considered by many to be the best frontman and singer ever. He got a diploma in graphic design and designed the band’s logo. Sir Dr Brian May is the lead guitarist and vocalist. He also plays keyboards and harp. He has a PhD in Astrophysics and has an IQ north of 180. He was knighted 2 years ago. He and his father made his guitar when he was 16 out of things around the house. The neck was hand carved from a 100 year old fireplace mantle, the body from an oak table, the tremolo bar from bicycle parts and his mother’s knitting needle. His guitar has a very unique sound you won’t find with anyone else and 60 years later he is still using it. It is called The Red Special. Roger Taylor is the drummer and also plays guitar. He went to school to become a dentist but got bored and got a degree in Biology. He has a 3 and a half octave vocal range and a very high falsetto earning him the nickname, the dog whistle. He is considered by some to be one of the top 10 rock drummers ever. John Deacon is the bassist and also plays double bass, piano/keyboards and drums. He graduated with high honors in engineering. He made an amp called the Deacy Amp out of a speaker cabinet and parts he found in the trash. He gave the amp to Brian which enables Brian’s guitar to make different instrumental and orchestral sounds. Every member of the band wrote at least 1 number one hit and all were inducted into the Songwriters Hall of Fame as well as the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. Bohemian Rhapsody is considered by many to be the greatest rock and roll song ever and their video for it revolutionized the way music videos were made and used paving the way for the inception of tv channels like MTV. Queen are 4 equal members of one of the best bands of all time.
4 octaves for Freddy's vocal range is a little too much. Something like "he was reliably able to hit notes from the booming low of F#2 to the high pitch G5 - that covers a full three octaves" is more accurate. His voice was amazing and well used in each song, I love it, but one thing that makes a good singer is that never push their limits while singing live. Freddy did it even in the studio and that makes his performances more human, more warmth. Trivia: Prince is ranked as the third male rock singer in vocal range with 5 octaves and 3 semitones.

Guys, welcome to "ROCK OPERA!" Rock + Opera. Bohemian Rhapsody was written by Freddie Mercury, beginning to end, lyrics + music...everything! You probably saw the movie, "Waynes World" starring Mike Myers. When they're in the car rocking out with their heads bobbing, they were listening to THIS song! That's why the middle section sounded familiar to you. It's one of Queen's best and most successful songs, ever.
you should watch the crowd singing along to this while waiting for a Green day concert to start. It shows how will known this song is and loved, even 50 years later.
The bassist, John Deacon, retired after Freddie died. The guitarist, Sir Brian May, Ph.D., and drummer, Roger Taylor, have continued to tour with different singers. They are still awesome live.
He commuted a crime…the beginning, a confession. The middle operatic like section is a trial. The rock portion is him not wanting to accept his fate. The ending…he just gives in. Actually, most people think he’s coming out of the closet here and trying to reconcile his two lives. Freddie was raised Zoroastrian, the most ancient religion on earth. His parents…he feared their reaction. And his own feelings…he was bisexual or pansexual, not gay. Back then, not at all accepted, though he was and always was himself, not caring what anyone thought except those closest to him. RIP, Legend. 🙏❤
I know the song a long time and loved it, but I saw ans listened to it again after your comment and it makes so much sense in the lyrics and song and ads even more to and already legendary song. Thank you

This was 1975 so 10 years before Live Aid. I love this song and have for (nearly) 50 years. This was the first video ever produced as a promotion for a song. The song was charting and Queen was going out on tour so they produced this video in 3 days so that it could be used while they were in another country. At that time, the only way to really promote music in the UK was on a show called Top Of The Pops and they would feature the band who had the #1 song in studio every week on their show. This song stayed at #1 for 9 weeks so they reluctantly had to show this video instead of having the band in their studio. You really do need to listen to this again with headphones. The panning and the ambient sounds are outstanding. It becomes a roller coaster ride for your ears.
@@sherryheim5504 very true! They are missing a lot with Queen if they don’t use headphones. There is one reactor that listened to Bohemian Rhapsody a 2nd time with headphones and wanted to go back and redo all his reactions haha!

I like how you put it, that Freddie has a heavy voice. Yes, that. Which is why it sounds so epic when he'd just keep sending it higher and higher into the stratosphere. Because his voice was very grounded and warm and earthy, but he could just let it fly away like that. Such a fantastic song.
It was three bits of songs that Freddie had, and eventually threw together. It was twice as long as a regular single so the record label was reluctant to issue it, and radio shows were reluctant to play it. What saved it was Kenny Everett (qv) playing a private reel-to-reel tape of it repeatedly on his radio show - first some parts as teasers, then he played the full piece 14 times over 2 days - and the public loved it. The following Monday record stores were besieged by fans demanding the record, only to be told it hadn't actually been released yet! It was a similar story in the USA - a radio producer heard Everett's show, somehow got a copy of the tape, and played it in the USA - again fans were demanding the record before it had been released. In the UK it spent 9 weeks at number one, including Christmas week. After Freddie died the same version was rereleased and again became the Christmas number one - the only time the same version of a song has achieved that.
Someone to love live from Montreal is a great example of what they do, but it’s almost impossible to watch a song and not like it. They are insanely talented
Guys, Queen’s record label did not want to release this song as a single, citing its length at almost 6 minutes being twice the normal length of the usual 3 minute pop song to be played on the radio. However, Freddie Mercury, the lead singer (and the writer of this particular song) was adamant it be released and reluctantly their record label agreed. Kenny Everett, a London DJ, was a friend of Freddie’s and loved Queen, and to help the band get the song the exposure it needed would tease his listeners by playing the song, but would chop it up into little bits, so eventually they would be able to hear the whole song during his radio slot and decide for themselves if they liked it or not. The plan worked and when audience demand for the song to be heard in its entirety intensified, the radio station had to give in to public pressure, and Everett (and other DJ’s) were allowed to play it in full. Bohemian Rhapsody was released as a single in the UK at the end of October 1975 and became the UK Christmas number one, holding the top position for nine weeks. The song was the first ever to get to number one in the UK twice with the same version, and is also the only single to have been Christmas number one twice with the same version. The second was upon its re-release (as a double A-side single with "These Are the Days of Our Lives") in 1991, following Freddie’s death in November that year, staying at number one for five weeks.
@@Mikey-DiLo He played parts as teasers, then over 2 days played the full piece 14 times. Fans besieged stores to get copies, but we're told it hadn't been released! The record company had to release it
Elvis Presley popularized jumpsuits. Check out every genre for different iterations of jumpsuits, belts, rhinestones. All Elvis inspired. This was immediately following his time. Freddie was a unique and tortured soul. Such talent.
This is from 1975 and we were instant fans as it was quite original and genius. Please do yourselves a favor and next time you have headphones, re-listen! You must get full experience. ✌️
Guys you should definitely react to the crowd singing this song while waiting for a Green Day concert to start to realise just how big it was in the UK
Nice reaction! Just as a suggestiont it's really better to listen to it with headphones. A Rhapsody is a musical piece composed of different parts that are distinct from each other. Here there are five parts: intro, ballade, operatic section, rock, coda.
Hi, love Queen, being old I grew up listening to them, I was 14 when Bohemian Rhapsody hit the charts, be sure to check out " Somebody to Love, live in Montreal Montreal 1981 , BTW Brian May lives a couple miles down the road from me, Regards SJ, UK.
What a great reaction from you guys…… I really enjoyed watching both of you.😊. Please remember that this song, the outfits and the hair are all 50 years old……but the singing and the music still lives today. Please….you absolutely must react to “Somebody to Love” live in Montreal 1981 ….. the outfits and hair will be gone ….but the incredible singing, music and performance will live forever. No autotune…..pure talent. Queen has so many other songs, many that you will probably recognize….or at least heard parts of before. Thank you for reacting to this iconic song ….please continue.
Yess, freddie is a,musical genius the best showman ever chosen by youtube,(mojo) freddie wrote this masterpiece and also is responsible to all the producing too is very well done andcalculate every single thing in producing this one you should see the movie bohemian rhapsody 2018❤❤❤
Another great reaction to a 50 year old song. It recently went double diamond,it is the most download song If you like guitar try Liar live at the rainbow London 74. This was the song that made me a fan. It's written before Bo Rap. I am so proud of your open mindedness. Keep going x
Rhapsody is a classical music term - a one-movement work that is episodic yet integrated, free-flowing in structure, featuring a range of highly contrasted moods, colour, and tonality. Bohemian means away from society's conventional norms and expectations. Great title that describes the structure, not the story, of this piece of musical art.
Since you said you liked the guitarist, here are some of their songs that he wrote and have excellent riffs and solos - Keep Yourself Alive, Now I’m Here, Stone Cold Crazy, It’s Late, Fat Bottomed Girls and my personal favorite, Tie Your Mother Down.
Will you dare to react to Prince LIVE? Prince could play every rock instrument with mastery, his vocal range was stunning, the vocal technique amazing, he could write, play everything, record, sing, do the backing vocals and produce a song in only 2 days (When Doves Cry). The best guitarists (Steve Vai, Eric Clapton, Carlos Santana) and most famous keyboardists/pianists (Stevie Wonder, Elton John) loved him, the best jazz musicians only said good things (Miles Davis, Herbie Hancock). He played pop, rock, funk, reggae, hip-hop/rap, classical, jazz, psychedelia, synth-pop, R&B, dance, electro-punk, blues... One of the best showman ever! In a live gig he could sing, play several instruments, dance, move the audience or put them to sing different parts, he drove his bands as a DJ: every night a different set list, every night the same song was new, because he always PLAYED LIVE. He was given the birth name of Prince Rogers Nelson, but he was not a king, but a Music God. Here some suggestions to copy/paste in YT: - (1) Prince, The New Power Generation - Nothing Compares 2 U (Live at Glam Slam, 1992) - (2) Prince- It’s Gonna Be A Beautiful Night (note: the miniature of the video is a city skyline) - (3) Prince Live - Play that funky Music - Hollywood Swinging - Fantastic Voyage 4/28/11 - (2) Prince - America (Live 1985) [Official Video] - (4) Director's Cut: "While My Guitar Gently Weeps" - Prince, Tom Petty, Jeff Lynne & Dhani Harrison (1) he wrote this song, (2) in these one he also plays drums, (3) Three covers in one playing guitar and bass, (4) he was invited in the last minute to play, but he could not rehearsal his solo. Also, he was let out the list of 100 best guitarists by Rolling Stones Magazine: the he did this to show the world who he was.

I hope you dive into the Queen catalog because their songs are once in a lifetime great, so don't stop now listen to more Queen and headphones or ear buds are a must when listening to Queen, for real. Love watching you discover brilliant music. 🫶👑💙🌈
This is consider the first music video ever recorded to promote a song, theres no theme in it like in modern videos. It is also a song from 1975 and all the recording is analog. Love to see you react to this, and about what you say, that no artist sing live anymore, there are some, and the best there are now and brand new is "The Warning" you should check them out, just pick any song live from Pepsi Center o Teatro Metropolitan. Thank me later.
and the execs at their record company said this song would never get played on the radio b/c it was too long. if want another comparable voice, listen to some journey songs, steve perry. its very likely youve heard the epitome of the 80s, "dont stop believin" but you can try other songs from them
@greatscott88 I absolutely agree about checking out Journey. Steve Perry EASILY has the 2nd best voice in rock music, after Freddie Mercury of course. I've completely lost track of how many times I've seen them, and each time was just as good as the last. I think their best song was "Separate Ways", but they're all good. I also highly recommend checking out Kansas and Boston. Boston had the best debut album ever. Hands down.
This piece was never planned as a commercial successfull song... it was an "heartthing" from the group, and Freddie fought for it so become the first realse form that album. Everyone said: "Forget about that! No one wants to listen to a song, that ist that long on the radio, and it's much to difficult to listen to!" I myself thought, that it needs attention to understand. And the commercial s*hit these days r not worth listen to. As we r going to christmas... best christmas song ever: "Fairytale of New York" by The Pogues.... forget about Wham "Last christmas" or Carry "All i want for christmas" or even Bing Crosby "White christmas". That r songs simple made to be commercial successful. The Pogues made, what some other bands made: A secret diamnond. Thanks for reacting!
NEVER cut off a video before it ends! You talked over the soft ending that brings this amazing classic song together, then cut off the very end and missed out. Use "reaction etiquette" by stopping the song to make your comments (and satisfy You Tube rules by stopping at least twice per song so they won't take it down), then BACK UP A FEW SECONDS to start it again so it flows better for your first time hearing, and for us viewers. If you posted a video that didn't have a song title, no one would click on your video, right? Always remember: people ONLY click on a reaction video for a song they love, so they don't want you to talk OVER it, and they don't want you to cut off the ending. And, as someone down below said, listen to the song with headphones, for your own enjoyment, so YOU get the full effect of the song! (You haven't REALLY heard this song until you listen with headphones! When they do that operatic part, the sound goes from ear to ear back and forth.) And, put your video at full volume when you make it, so people can turn it down to their comfort level-- remember that rockers who grew up with this music LIKE IT LOUD. Just some helpful notes for you guys to keep in mind. I liked your reactions, and I'll watch more of your videos in the future to see if you took these suggestions to heart.... and then I'll subscribe and like.
You heard this from Bill and Ted. I love that you have found 'Queen ' I'm most certain that we have in the UK the Best Group Ever....and it's kinda true. Between Freddie Mercury, George Michael and Mick Hucknel. They are all pitch perfect live singers....test them out 😊 xx
This was the 1970's guys and this man the reason his teeth look that way is because he had extra teeth in the back that he refused to get rid of because he was afraid it would ruin his voice.

@@andrewroberts299 fascinating! Thanks for the info. I didn’t know Kenny Everett chopped up the song.
@@Mikey-DiLo
He played parts as teasers, then over 2 days played the full piece 14 times.
Bohemian Rhapsody was released in 1975.
I think you guys will *love* to watch the film QUEEN, done a few years ago about the story of the band.
We Queen fans have a rule. Never, ever interrupt the amazing Brian May guitar solos
Nice reaction! Just as a suggestiont it's really better to listen to it with headphones. A Rhapsody is a musical piece composed of different parts that are distinct from each other. Here there are five parts: intro, ballade, operatic section, rock, coda.
Thank you boys it’s always amazing seeing young people reacting to Queen you must watch Queen at live aid 20 minutes of pure heaven take care x x
The glad rags were all part of the theatre of it
It's much a shame you can't experience the music we heard when we were young
Guys get yourself some headphones or earbuds and listen to this again. You are missing a lot with Queen if you don’t use them.
The operatic part is his trial after death. Then he goes to he'll. That's how I've always heard it.
You need to watch the Movie Bohemian Rhapsody
Check out , Somebody to love, live in Montreal
It recently went double diamond,it is the most download song
If you like guitar try Liar live at the rainbow London 74. This was the song that made me a fan. It's written before Bo Rap.
I am so proud of your open mindedness. Keep going x
This is in the movie Waynes World. The movie brought them back to popularity. The band also did the soundtrack for the movie Flash Gordon...
Guys, gonna call you out- they played a good part of this song in the live video you reviewed 6 days ago. Remember??
Rhapsody is a classical music term - a one-movement work that is episodic yet integrated, free-flowing in structure, featuring a range of highly contrasted moods, colour, and tonality. Bohemian means away from society's conventional norms and expectations. Great title that describes the structure, not the story, of this piece of musical art.
This was the 1st ever music video for VHS
1975, my first album.
Best song. Rock opera. Freddy is the best ever. Period. Same with the guutar player,
Best song ever!!!
50 years old this year
Since you said you liked the guitarist, here are some of their songs that he wrote and have excellent riffs and solos - Keep Yourself Alive, Now I’m Here, Stone Cold Crazy, It’s Late, Fat Bottomed Girls and my personal favorite, Tie Your Mother Down.
Watch this song live from Montreal in 1981 next.
It was genius!!!
Yo guys ‼️do queen “ another one bites the dust “ you might have heard some of it before. Or sampled 💥thanks bosses
Here some suggestions to copy/paste in YT:
- (1) Prince, The New Power Generation - Nothing Compares 2 U (Live at Glam Slam, 1992)
- (2) Prince- It’s Gonna Be A Beautiful Night (note: the miniature of the video is a city skyline)
- (3) Prince Live - Play that funky Music - Hollywood Swinging - Fantastic Voyage 4/28/11
- (2) Prince - America (Live 1985) [Official Video]
- (4) Director's Cut: "While My Guitar Gently Weeps" - Prince, Tom Petty, Jeff Lynne & Dhani Harrison
(1) he wrote this song, (2) in these one he also plays drums, (3) Three covers in one playing guitar and bass, (4) he was invited in the last minute to play, but he could not rehearsal his solo. Also, he was let out the list of 100 best guitarists by Rolling Stones Magazine: the he did this to show the world who he was.
Check out the 2017 Green Day concert from Hyde Park. 65,000 people singing Bohemian Rhapsody. Beautiful tribute to Freddie and Queen
The clothes and hair are glam rock style.
They all had impressive degrees. Brian Mays the guitarist was at one #5 of the all-time greatest gutarists of all time
I was 1977 and I was 16 years old when I saw Queen live in NY and I've loved them ever since. I hope you dive into the Queen catalog because their songs are once in a lifetime great, so don't stop now listen to more Queen and headphones or ear buds are a must when listening to Queen, for real. Love watching you discover brilliant music. 🫶👑💙🌈
Great Reaction ❤ Watch this: Crowd singing Bohemian Rhapsody ruclips.net/video/cZnBNuqqz5g/видео.htmlsi=HOCug8ZTxQ1YRRjJ
You beat me to the punch! 😂 I was going to recommend this, too.
Queen also did the theme song for Highlander the movie Who wants to live forever.
Singing from the Heart🤎 LOVE QUEEN 🫶🏼Freddie loved Opera so they mixed it. What a Brilliant Idea 💙
This video came out in 1975, so they’re all 10 yrs younger than Live Aid.
and the execs at their record company said this song would never get played on the radio b/c it was too long. if want another comparable voice, listen to some journey songs, steve perry. its very likely youve heard the epitome of the 80s, "dont stop believin" but you can try other songs from them
@greatscott88 I absolutely agree about checking out Journey. Hands down.
Guys, since you liked this so much, you would also enjoy "Carry On Wayward Son" by the band "Kansas" - great vocals/harmonies & superb musicianship.
You gotta watch the Wayne's World movies! 😊
They were 10 years younger from this vid than live aid
Strap in Buttercups!!!! lol
Research the history of this song, they introduced it in sections to get people used to a song this long and diverse
Wikipedia has an extensive article.
Queen 👸 ❤
I strongly recommend you to react to the Montreal live of another great Queen song ' somebody to love'
I am sure that you will be mesmerized !!!
Freddie gave a copy to a DJ friend, who liked it so much: well, let's just say he got very slippy fingers while on air... ;)
They were called QUEEN for a reason. Look it up.
1975 Saw them live in 1978.
try 'Green Day crowd sing Bohemian Rhapsody at the British Summer Time Festival - Hyde Park, London' 2017 Its crazy fire!
You should checkout video of the Crowd Sings Bohemian Rhapsody at Green Day concert(2017).
This was the 1970's guys and this man the reason his teeth look that way is because he had extra teeth in the back that he refused to get rid of because he was afraid it would ruin his voice.
Oh you committed a cardinal sin. Never interrupt a Brian May solo 😂
Ok guys... first thing, you have to wear headphones to appreciate Queen... you're missing all the panning! 2nd thing, Queen is known for their harmonizing... Try any of their 1981 Montreal concert... you won't be sorry!!
You need to wear headphones to get the special sound effects. Try it!
Thd song 🎵 Killer Queen 👸 By Queen. [With the lyrics]
