Dude I had no idea they made the beetle in a 5 cylinder. Thats neat. Subbed.

My wife has it, genuinely feels great to drive. Very very flat torque curve even though it's a lower maximum power than the turbo

It should smell like Petrol, Rattle a lot, Brakes smell a bit, and be rear engine rear drive. If it doesn't meet those requirements then it ain't a Beetle.

I don't know if it's honest to compare it, in any way, to a classic Beetle. The latter day Beetles were Beetles in looks only. As I recall, they're really just VW Golfs with a round, beetle-ish body dropped over them. There was never any intent by VW to "be true" to the original concept of the Beetle as an inexpensive "people's car". So to compare this one to Beetles of the '60s just doesn't ring true; this was nothing more than a styling exercise on the part of Volkswagen solely because their Marketing Dept. told them Americans have a soft spot in their hearts for the classic Bug. Sorry, but conceptually, this ain't no modern day Beetle. It's a garden variety Golf posing as a Beetle.

Agreed. It's the opposite of the classic Beetle. That was rear engine, rear wheel drive, air cooled. This is front engine, front wheel drive, water cooled.

I rented one of these after my accident with my green mercury Tracer. It was the 1.8 turbo though

Hey so like you said I don't have to do a crash course... And I totally agree. My friend actually bought one of these exactly like this and crashed into a parked car. Totaling it instantly. Because there is so much plastic on that car it's ridiculous.

also fun fact , here in europe for 10.000€(used to be 8k) you can buy a new car , the dacia logan(basicly a rebadged renault symbol) , no ac , no radio, but now it comes with 2 airbags standard and abs and power steering , its shameful that dacia is the only romanian car company left and its known to be the cheapest and lowest quallity new car in europe... :/

OMG, Let me give you a REAL REVIEW, NOT A CAR DEALER SALESMEN REVIEW! RUN! RUN AS FAST AS you can FROM THIS POS! No Recalls BUT YOU WILL PAY, bad timing chain, mostly on the 2.5 turbo , when the timing chain goes your looking at a $7,000-$8,000 bill, why? Because aside from the chain , youre looking at replacing the Cam shaft, Lifters, Push Rods and the ENTIRE F'N HEAD, How do I know this, My gf just shelled out $3,500 cash because of it, Why only $3,500? Because VW/Audi is well aware of the timing chain issue(but dealers wont tell you upfront) theres an extended 50/50 warranty on these vehs til March of 2025, in adition to the Timing chain issue theres also an extended warranty on the $1,800 water pump job! Now heres the best part, my gf's bug, how many miles you think the chain took a dump at? 150k nope, 100k still not close, TRY 64K ! WTF? now thats just the motor, shes already replaced all the brake calipers, the rear trunk emblem fell off, that part is $200 alone and youve got to pull the entire mechanism to replace it, the cup holder is destroyed and the fabric is deleminating,, this is what a review is supposed to reveal,, if you dont know how to review a car correctly , tje dont do it, all your doing is blowing smoke .. this car should be avoided at all costs
