Nice segment! I've long been a fan of the Beetle, and I always thought that if I bought one, I would go with the TDI for the improved mileage. Now that VW is building them with the 1.8L turbo, I think I would opt for that engine instead. I like the idea of the TDI . . . just would have to come down to a test drive, and to see how reliable one may be over the other.
Diesel fuel cost more than premium fuel in the USA, so unless diesel gets cheaper, I don't see any reason to buy a diesel car in the USA. This power plant only makes sense for heavy duty hauling in trucks.
Even though that's true, but don't forget a diesel engine is more fuel efficient so you will pretty much fill the tank less often than a car with a regular gasoline enigine
Although diesel is more expensive.... but I’ve only filled my tank up twice and I’ve had it for almost 5 weeks with still half a tank. I feel like I’m winning lol
Clearly this car does not have an air cooled flat four, nor does it have a rear engine, rear drive setup, so how is this a beetle and not just a more expensive version of the golf with an inferior interior layout?
do you still have to pull the whole front end off to change the alternator?
My wife drives a 2013 with the dsg. I look for excuses to drive it.
"CLEAN"
+Ali “macarazy” Günes I knew his comment would be here somewhere

Great video ..thank you 👍☘️
I hear Diesel engine at least the new ones are harder to care for with expensive oil changes?
They’re harder and more expensive because they were caught in a scandal and there’s nothing “clean” about it

hawkermustang I don't know, my diesel has been like .40 cheaper than gasoline for quite a while now.

I like diesels best in trucks for towing things. With this VW diesel scandal. The tree huggers in the USA really hate diesel now.
+hawkermustang that's true. VW really screwed themselves up by doing that.

Well I tell you what, Pilgrim!
Is this one of the "clean diesel" engines that VW got in trouble for cheating?
YES
they paid me $8000.00 and I kept the car....70,000 just extended the warranty....43 mpg
😍😍
