Had that radio in my car originally. Very easy to replace. I added an OEM RCD330 larger screen radio with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto and it completely added to how much I love this car.
Love this car. I have the same exact model just red with 105,000 miles. I’ve owned it for 9 years and I haven’t really had any major issues with it so far.
I really like the way the new shape beetles look compared to the older model. Its more of the original beetle shape. The old one just looks like someone designed it using a compass, it was too round! Great review Matt, As always!
Matt, your reviews have improved so much! Not to knock your old content, but your quality as well as clarity through explanation is so much better. Just awesome stuff coming from this channel!
My goodness, I love turbo cars. Just ordered a Corksport turboback exhaust for my Gen 1 speed3 yesterday! Also started pro tuning and we're at 21psi on the basemap! Oh, turbos :)
As always, thanks Matt. Harrison Auto Sales should be proud and happy to sponsor you, you do an amazing service for them and Harrison Auto Sales stays in my mind because of you. Furthermore, your intros are RAZOR sharp Matt and I love to watch them in detail. Wow! On another note, I really appreciate that you've responded to some of my comments before. Makes your audience feel like they are part of your efforts. Thanks again!
I honestly will never understand Volkswagen’s decision to stop the production of the beetle everyone loves. Mexico manufactured the old style until 2003.
I own a 2012 Beetle Turbo, the interior panels on the turbo are not color matched, the scheme for the turbo is the same for all the colors, I'm not sure about the tdi but the standard beetle does come color matched. The boost guage reads in atmospheric pressure, the actual pressure is about 10 psi. the usb jack is in the top glove box to the left. The car you're driving has the comfort suspension which just means softer springs, with the sport suspension there's a lot less roll. In my experience with owning both an mk6 gti and a beetle turbo the gti stock is actually quieter off throttle. gas mileage is 32/30.
Great review man. Im debating about buying this car same engine. Gotta say I love your intro music 🎶! Never change it! Every time You preform an acceleration test your facial expressions gets me going to lol. I feel like I'm always testing the cars right next to you. Keep it up man! 👍
I have a 2013 2.0 Turbo - absolutely love my Beetle. I find myself looking for reasons to drive ANYWHERE. Ugh oh..... need groceries. Ooopp....forgot toothpaste. Hey Mom, let me take you to lunch. What's that? You need a ride to school? I got you. Hahaha. BEETLE LOVE!
I honestly think its the only beetle i like as it looks close to the rugged design of the old 80s 911 slantnose especially in black. I would love to get a used manual in the future
I own this car with Coilovers, a stage 2 GIAC tune, and wheels+tires. The car does have bluetooth. Also, the gear ratios allow it to out accelerate GTI's of the same tune. Its an absolute sleeper. I really wish it was MQB now though, the MK7's tuning ability is so much greater. Maybe ill get the next gen and IS38 it.
Frfr i had one total sleeper I gave a mustang cobra svt 2004 I think hell when u turned off he throw tha numbs up I bet he wasn't expecting that turn out lol
I got a feeling that the suspension might be why it rolls in corners, thus he better ride. Even my MK-V, stock suspension is firm and still hugs corners, I barely use brakes, of course I shift down with 6 speeds, no dsg. Great review as always!
Just got the 2013 Turbo Beetle for mu 19 yr old daughter for her to drive in college she loves it and it does drive very nicely. Our Bettle has that same exact stereo and it does have Bluetooth. Its an otion in the media button when selecting Aux. Either ipod or Bluetooth.
I've never been a modern beetle guy. I do agree that these have improved their looks a bit, but I'd probably buy the GTI instead. Great, open minded review!
+T-WRX I owned a mk6 gti, it's more hardcore suspension wise and the gear ratios are different, but you can find a beetle turbo of the same condition, miles and options for about 3k less, i'd say on average. Plus the beetle has a shorter wheelbase and with the sport suspension handles 9/10ths as good as a gti. So for those people who want the gti experience without the "enthusiast upcharge", the beetle turbo is a really great option. Also insurance is like 15% less expensive. And cops won't look twice.
T-WRX 3 years late, but I’ve got a lightly modded beetle r line that smokes most GTIs. Runs a 13.9 on a 1/4 mile with the stock all season tires. I’d imagine with some better tires that it’ll do low 13s high 12s since the stock tires spin for quite a while.
I'd love to see you review the new Civic Turbo. I know its not quite the sports car your used to and its a CVT but for its class it's quite a performer. It has similar stats to previous model year SIs.
+subaruwrxfan if you ever end up in Connecticut you are more than welcome to review my 1990 300zx. I'm pretty sure many people are looking for it since there's not many reviews of them. Love the videos btw.
+subaruwrxfan of course. It's na, not much but when I was looking into buying one there's barely any reviews out there so for everyone who wants to get one will have a great review.
jesse basler gti does indeed have IRS idk who told you it doesn't but they're wrong. Gli is simply a sedan version of a gti except it has taller gears.
I never thought of Beetles as a chick car until the previous generation came out. It was very girlie car. I figured since the Beetles are turned into various race cars they were not girly.
Great video!!! Just bought a used one and I really enjoy it. Love the stick, I did find mine had been in a wreck in front end. Where should I go to get a better grill? Mine didn't have alot of bolts to hold the grill down. And could you tell me where i might could also get some extra items as the knob on the stick? Thanks for all the video and info.
Hey Matt - great review as always! I just want to touch on your comments about how it compares with a Golf GTI. I think comparing these two in the handling department is not fair just because they share the same chassis and the engine. Beetle is not a GTI or a "Performance" version after all. I think it is just an enthusiastic version of a regular Beetle that happens to share the engine and a chassis of a GTI but that doesn't mean they should have the same characteristics in my opinion.
been trying to decide between a Jetta or Passat, one of the slightly used rentals you can find on sale. but i really like the Bugs too. can you still get the 200hp engine in the newer ones?
+Damien Fraser at what point did it sound like it? give me exact time like 4:59 so i can see and pay attention and tell u if ur right or not lol (4:59 was just an example
I really wanted to love this car when I test drove it... but I had the same impression; it doesn't feel sharp at all. Quite the opposite. It's even looser than my 2008 Rabbit... pity... coz I think the car is so unique lookin... maybe I should just get a convertible basic one...
I really like the styling of this one. What I don't get is why there is heated seats but no Bluetooth? Shouldn't it be the other way around? Anyways great review Matt.
Had that radio in my car originally. Very easy to replace. I added an OEM RCD330 larger screen radio with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto and it completely added to how much I love this car.
Lol this car looks like a car someone would have that is not to rich And not to poor and always pay bills On time
haha that actually describes it perfectly.
ok
+Mika Huurman
+Mika Huurman Well... a "mediocre" individual but not in a "Immortan Joe" bad spin of the term. Kind a regular not too bad fellow, I got it !! haha =)
Mika Huurman lol ikr!!!! Can't wait for mine
Love this car. I have the same exact model just red with 105,000 miles. I’ve owned it for 9 years and I haven’t really had any major issues with it so far.
Might buy a used one with 102k on it for 10k. You think it’s a decent deal?
@@daniel-eg2oq yes that’s definitely a good deal.
Can't wait to see what the next generation Beetle will look... Great review man!
+Street Speed 717 Thanks Mike!
Street Speed 717 two years later and Volkswagen kills the beetle
Zane Dee Bingo !
5 years later... It doesn't look like much.
New gen is invisible
You know, for a beetle , that's not really that bad
I really like the way the new shape beetles look compared to the older model. Its more of the original beetle shape. The old one just looks like someone designed it using a compass, it was too round! Great review Matt, As always!
+Ethan Gee Thanks Ethan! You're right about the compass idea I think haha.
Matt, your reviews have improved so much! Not to knock your old content, but your quality as well as clarity through explanation is so much better. Just awesome stuff coming from this channel!
I like the jazzy tune after your intro. This is way better than your normal stuff. I had to pause your video to check it out. I dig it!
This beetle looks so good !I know that guys aren't used to beetles but I'd buy this model any time !
Still can't believe it's been 5 (or almost 5) years since the restyle.
My goodness, I love turbo cars. Just ordered a Corksport turboback exhaust for my Gen 1 speed3 yesterday! Also started pro tuning and we're at 21psi on the basemap! Oh, turbos :)
Nice review! I would have never given these a second thought but it actually looks like a nice car
As always, thanks Matt. Harrison Auto Sales should be proud and happy to sponsor you, you do an amazing service for them and Harrison Auto Sales stays in my mind because of you. I want this car so bad 😍😍😍😍
This is my new car I’m in love 🥰
I have a 2013 2.0 Turbo - absolutely love my Beetle. I find myself looking for reasons to drive ANYWHERE. Ugh oh..... need groceries. Ooopp....forgot toothpaste. Hey Mom, let me take you to lunch. What's that? You need a ride to school? I got you. Hahaha. BEETLE LOVE!
I honestly think its the only beetle i like as it looks close to the rugged design of the old 80s 911 slantnose especially in black. I would love to get a used manual in the future
The handling isn't as sharp as a GTI probably because of a higher center of gravity. It's cool though; I test drove one and it is FAST!
The opening sequence part looks a little like the early 1900s, as well as the song. 😎
My girlfriend drives a 1999 Bright yellow diesel bug with daisy wheels... Needless to say we drive my challenger
There’s nothing more hardcore than a yellow beetle with daisy wheels
I own this car with Coilovers, a stage 2 GIAC tune, and wheels+tires. The car does have bluetooth. Also, the gear ratios allow it to out accelerate GTI's of the same tune. Its an absolute sleeper. The intro was awesome! Probably the best one you've done besides the Hellcat
Love the intro music! Such a fitting song for this car
Keep it on Matt! Great review as always!
I got a feeling that the suspension might be why it rolls in corners, thus he better ride. Even my MK-V, stock suspension is firm and still hugs corners, I barely use brakes, of course I shift down with 6 speeds, no dsg. Great review as always!
Hey Matt can you start shifting gears when you're talking about the shifter in the interior part, so we can see how it feels
+Omar Chakkour Okay.
Always been curious about these bugs. Great review Matt
nice shots getting way better!
I have blue turbo sportline and I love it ..
Matt.....can't wait to see what you do for 200k subs! Keep up the good work, another good and unique review.
The beetle R line fixes those problems you mention. Stiffer suspension and anti roll bars.
I've never been a modern beetle guy. I do agree that these have improved their looks a bit, but I'd probably buy the GTI instead. Great, open minded review!

Those Wheels!!! I want them for my 2014 convertible baseline bug.
If they only made a successor to the RSi and shipped it stateside! That is what dreams are made of!
Nice review. I like the your intro and that music with the black and white. I like the restyle on the beetle.
lol my mom wanted the new beetle I convinced her to get a turbo with the dsg , she never saw it coming
i'm liking the new intro wink wink
Drinking Game! Take a shot every time Matt says "GTI" Lol Love your reviews Matt and I'm getting this car for Christmas! :)
very low on my list of appreciated cars, and matt still makes it sound awesome, as usual...
ok
To correct Mat, it's much more related to the Mk6 Jetta and Mk6 Golf (both PQ35) rather than the Mk7 Golf (MQB).
9:50 Back road :)
COOL Review: 2012 Volkswagen Beetle Turbo
I'd love to see you review the new Civic Turbo. I know its not quite the sports car your used to and its a CVT but for its class it's quite a performer. It has similar stats to previous model year SIs.
I like that intro :)
Beautiful body, but the interior is a bit of a let down.
Henry Jones Jr. I know!!! 😔
A beetle that can do a burnout....i'm sold
+Scott Grossman lol, my VW Fox, which is the successor to the Lupo, can do a burnout.
me family car is always vw Beetle .now i am very excited about vw 2021 beetle. very informative vlog thanks dear keep it up .will i am from pakistan
I'd like to see one with some handling mods.
Hey Matt I gotta say you kickass at reviewing cars! Say get your hands on a Raptor I want to see what you think about it :)
That updated intro tho👌🏾
your right. He needs to get hired by @smokingtire or @/Drive or @motortrendchannel!
Can you review a 240sx s13 hatch?
+Jon Hallex I'd love to if someone offers one nearby.
+subaruwrxfan if you ever end up in Connecticut you are more than welcome to review my 1990 300zx. I'm pretty sure many people are looking for it since there's not many reviews of them. Love the videos btw.
+Bujar Saliu Thank you! I may get out that way this year! I'll post an announcement video if I do!
+subaruwrxfan of course. It's na, not much but when I was looking into buying one there's barely any reviews out there so for everyone who wants to get one will have a great review.
+subaruwrxfan how about an S14? :)
Good stuff Matt! Can you review a Honda civic SI EP3?
+xxRANGERpap2xx Thanks! I'd love to if someone offers one.
With your outfit, you fit with the beetle
Hey commented on last video and want to say nice channel
the gti has sportier suspension while the beetle is set up more towards comfort. that's the difference you're feeling.
+smgs921 there's two suspension packages available, sport (gli) and comfort (regular jetta)
Does the beetle get IRS like the gti gli and passat or is it set up like the golf and jetta? That would affect handling as well
The gti isn't irs but the gli does, the beetle turbo is a shortened gli essentially.
jesse basler gti does indeed have IRS idk who told you it doesn't but they're wrong. Gli is simply a sedan version of a gti except it has taller gears.
I never thought of Beetles as a chick car until the previous generation came out. It was very girlie car. I figured since the Beetles are turned into various race cars they were not girly.
I had one it was a joy to drive ima get me one more time and keep it
Get a 2015 model avoid the 2012-2014 VW beetle turbo
Great video!!! Just bought a used one and I really enjoy it. Love the stick, I did find mine had been in a wreck in front end. Where should I go to get a better grill?
Mine didn't have alot of bolts to hold the grill down.
And could you tell me where i might could also get some extra items as the knob on the stick? Thanks for all the video and info.
Is this guy adorable or what!
This is a kind of car my grandma would have fun with
if your ever in Pennsylvania philly suburb Telford I have a 2009 Mercedes c350 your welcome to review
Nice review and nice car. I think it needs lowering slightly would handle better too.
been trying to decide between a Jetta or Passat, one of the slightly used rentals you can find on sale. but i really like the Bugs too. can you still get the 200hp engine in the newer ones?
nice review like alwayes matt
The Beetle is more top heavy causing a higher center of gravity, thus, it will tend to have more body roll than an average hot hatch
You sure the GTI isn't making more noise from the soundakator? 😛 (drives a GTI)
this car still has a long way to go
As much as i hate your for running the campaign, I would still click on your reviews, they are great. Except for all the "pretty nice" LOL
Does the Beetle have a higher center of gravity? Might explain a bit more body roll.
Wondering why the turbos almost always have cloth seats?
get your hands on a Gen one Speed3!
My mk7 gti doesn't have a boost gauge
Hey man - where are you filming?
For a second i thought it sounded like an 8 cylinder.. In a way sorta like a boss 302 for a second 😂
Maybe just me though
+Damien Fraser at what point did it sound like it? give me exact time like 4:59 so i can see and pay attention and tell u if ur right or not lol (4:59 was just an example
+Damien Fraser yup u were right
+Damien Fraser omg I was thinking the same thing :D
+Damien Fraser they really tuned the acoustics in the car to make the engine sound boxeresque
I really wanted to love this car when I test drove it... but I had the same impression; it doesn't feel sharp at all. Quite the opposite. It's even looser than my 2008 Rabbit... pity... coz I think the car is so unique lookin... maybe I should just get a convertible basic one...
Please song from the beginning ... what is name ?
I really like the styling of this one. What I don't get is why there is heated seats but no Bluetooth? Shouldn't it be the other way around? Anyways great review Matt.
+Steven Nguyen bluetooth has been standard on all vw since the mid 2000s.
Can tune it like the gti of cpurse and personally think they look great lowered
It can't decide if it wants to be a coupe, or a hot hatch
Could it be the brand of tires which are affecting the turn in sharpness? There can be big differences between brands.
I know you did a newer Genesis sedan. Can you do a 2012 or 13 Genesis Sedan 4.6 or 5.0 if it's available please?
Those buttons around the hazards don't do anything even with an optioned up model
You should have added a GTI counter in the video :p
Slug bug! Black one! 🙂
Review a Cobalt SS Turbo
matt you really believe the storage space is pretty good?
Does this car come with a auto trans
Yep. Idk if it's slower though
Great review but please do take video of the car itself more.
With all the recent goings on with VW I would buy a Lada before one of theirs
Oh look it's a 2012 Porsche 911 Turbo cool lol jk great review Matt
Cool very cool . It is so cool . The car is cool . Yep that’s cool 😎
Drinking game idea, take a shot every time he says "GTI".
You won't last 5 minutes.
Omfg that engine actually sounds absurd, sounds like a v8
How many miles on this car what year is this car
It's almost like the VW Beetle and Porsche are related.
They are related. Porsche is a division of the Volkswagen Auto Group.
That tire chirp was awesome
