Why the Hell would anybody click "Dislike" this video?! What were they expecting to listen to? Nicky Grist has such recall and ability to communicate his passion for the sport I could listen to his stories all day. Keep it up Chris, would love to hear an interview with Robert Reid and Phil Mills if you could arrange please?!
Regardless of how much you know about cars it's genuinely inspiring listening to these podcasts. The enthusiasm and passion is just bursting out. Please keep it up when you can guys. Fantastic content.
Quite frankly, as a lifelong rally fan of all of the characters and cars described, the best and most interesting interview I have had the fortune of listening to. Thankyou Mr Harris and Mr Grist for a beautifully frank, natural and revealing conversation.
Im 52 years old and I’ve wanted to be a rally driver from I’ve known myself. I followed rallying all my life until about 2 or 3 years ago when some difficulties in my personal life took my focus. This has got to be the best podcast/interview on the subject I’ve ever listened to and. Thank you Chris and Nicky. Phenomenal 🙏🏽
By far and away the best Podcast Chris has done. Nicky is so engaging and has a way of story telling that makes 3.5 hours fly by. Thank you so much for making this!
Bloody 'ell, what a class episode - just going to socially distance myself due to Coronollecting Cars symptoms. Nicky and Colin planted the Subaru seed for me and a Classic Turbo, P1, 22B and STi followed when I could afford it. Utter hero, thanks Nicky, Chris and Edward, for a guy in his late 40s, 'maximum attack' was the default and I hope I can speak for those of a similar mind.
@@blackcygnus3177 Sadly not, given today's values I should have but other priorities came along. I preferred the straight-piped P1 to drive of all of them. Live in Australia now and the car market here is utter crud. Did test-drive an Integrale Evo II prior to the 22B and it was the best handling car I've ever driven... but I didn't have the balls to take the plunge.
@Howard Hamlin I think you were either in the EVO camp or the Scooby. Never drove an EVO but would be interested if I could feel a difference after so many years.
The finest automotive journalist on the planet, and one of my childhood heroes for three and a half hours. Between this and the most recent Top Gear series, Harris hasn't half been spoiling us in 2020.
Outstanding!! What an amazing & humble man and what an orator, time just fly (like the cars he guided round). And his memory is as sharp as a knife, fantastic Chris and team.
What a podcast!!! Just brilliant to relive all those memories and hear the behind the curtin stories. Thank you very much to Nicky and Chris for committing this stuff to ‘tape’. Best wishes and continued success to both of you. 👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻
The story which starts around 2:33:30 is mental, and that's just one of them. What an insane podcast, has to be one of the best interviews Chris has ever done.
Easily the best podcast I hav ever listened too.my father cried laughing listen to the jump part wit jimmy near the end. This podcast will take a lot to b beat.....
I just want to echo the comments by many and the thoughts of, I'm sure, many more. This was a truly substantial podcast. I am incredibly thankful to you, Chris, for doing this - and even more so to Nicky for all the insights and stories he shared. The 3 hours flew by, and made me wish there were 3 more. Honestly remarkable. I wanted to hear everything. I am, I suppose, one of the fortunate people deemed to be "essential" (although I really only act as one minuscule piece of grit that cements the bricks together) and as a result am still working and being paid, but I looked forward to every moment I could get to listen to this podcast. I know not every guest can be this marvelous and conversational. I know you probably can't be bothered to do such long content every week. But I want you both to know, both you, Nicky and Edward, that this was truly special and appreciated. As is every one of your uploads.
This is epic! And yes Chris Harris that really is the best podcast so far. Definitely one to download and listen to on some future public transport journey when the world gets back to normal.
the sound of my childhood, The amazingly wonderful voice of Nicky Grist, ive just been transported back to saturday afternoon Grand stand and I cant thank you both enough, i absolutely loved this interview it had everything ❤❤❤😂👍👍👍 look after yourselves chaps.
Great stuff, Steiner was also with Jolly Club/Lancia before joining Ford! Chris we would love to welcome you down to the Rally replay showroom once things calm down. We have multiple ex works Lancia's currently with us!
Wow wow wow, two absolute legends of the motoring world. Chris done amazingly well to steer the podcast in the right direction but I've got a feeling that this podcast could've easily been twice as long. Well done guys! I'm away to relive some of Colin and Nicky's best drives. 👍
What an absolute pleasure of a podcast. I've been following Chris on RUclips for god knows how long, and this interview is one of the highlights. Thank you
Chris is wasted on Top Gear, I'm sure it more than pays the bills - but he has too much talent as a driver and a motoring journalist to be on that show.
Yep, agree, a lucrative gig and yet I think Goodwood and various other racing challenges might just be enough for him. It's safe to say that his lack of a dedicated RUclips journalistic presence is proving a very positive force amongst his fans in showing how much respect he's held in... and that if he were to start something it'd go off... like bonfire night.
Grant Challinor I think he does it really well but I was sceptical at first I must admit, I initially likened it to someone like Morgan Freeman or Anthony Hopkins doing celebrity big-brother 😂
I could watch Chris drift BMW M-cars and supercars for days, but I never expected him to become such a brilliant interviewer. Between that and Nicki's fascinating storytelling, this is one of the best podcasts I've heard in ages.
Wow, what an awesome insight into the world of Nicky Grist. Many thanks Chris for a wonderful pod cast. I watched Colin and Nicky testing a Subaru in New Zealand many moons ago, it was great to see them in action.
Had to do it in a few sittings, but what a wonderful experience it was (and yes I might've said that in a really shite welsh accent) Cheers to Chris and Nicky. These kind of interviews need someone that can ask great questions but also know when to just let people talk.
Initially, I thought oh my god, how can I find the 3 1/2hrs neede to listen to this....and do I want to (just being honest🤷♂️) but oh my, this one must be the best yet!! I’m now feeling short changed because I know there’s probably another 3 1/2hrs worth of stories (at least)! Loved every last second of what we’ve had. Thank you Monkey and Nicky ❤️❤️
Amazing. Woke up at 3am in post covid, can’t believe it’s been a mesmerising 3 and half hours. Very interesting first saw Colin in RAC in a battered 2wd Sierra. Then saw him every time in New Zealand, never understood his times in Motu stage NZ. I thought Subaru might have done something illegal, he was just so quick. (A min quicker than Kankunen). Having driven the stage only 2 years ago, I now understand with Nickys comments, it just suited Colins aggressive driving style. Loved the interview, and now have great respect for Nicky. Cheers
I listen to the podcasts on spotify, but with no option to comment, I had to come onto here and say how fabulous this interview was. Chris was absolutely engaged and interrupted a lot less in this Podcast than usual and it flowed so wonderfully as a result (Nicky's amazing ability to tell a story obviously had a lot to do with it :-). More like this! looking forward to the Colin Goodwin one next.
The longest podcast I have ever heard. But I really wish it was longer - this was that good. I felt like I was in that room with these guys. Thank You, Nicky & Chris! Hands down the #1 cast ever. Don't miss it boys!
The best interview I have ever heard. Chris Harris-thank you.
Could of listened to Nicky and Chris for the next month easily. Nickys memory is amazing!!!! What a podcast. Thank you
His memory is astonishing !
Chris has really evolved as an interviewer, and Nicky knows how to tell a story. This is absolutely fascinating.
I would love to hear more little details from the individual rallies. Like how stressed out Colin was at GB 2001. Thats great insights.

over 3 hours of Chris Harris & Nicky Grist! Thanks for keeping me entertained at home Chris, best podcast ever!

Proper selection there. You keep your 22B?

Amazing episode!
Best podcast I've ever listened to. Nicky is a wonderful storyteller and Chris a great interviewer who just let him get on with it.
This podcast is pure gold! I cannot thank you enough. 3h well spent - time sure flies when listening to Nicky and Chris. Well done sirs!
What a absolutely wonderful interview with an all time legend. Bravo.
Outstanding!! What an amazing & humble man and what an orator, time just fly (like the cars he guided round). And his memory is as sharp as a knife, fantastic Chris and team.

One of the finest interviews I've ever listened to. Nicky can tell a story!
Thank you Chris. Thank you Nicky. Another excellent podcast as usual. This one. was exceptional. You feel like you are in the room with you guys.
I spent a lovely afternoon listening this and watch actual footage on a separate screen ! Thank you !

What a legend! So cool to listen to, especially as I was rewatching the wrc highlights from the 1998 on on yt recently!
Could have listened to this all week, brilliant. Thankyou! Please some more longer pod cast we need more!
Absolutely absorbing podcast, so many great stories from Nicky. Could easily have listened to these two talk all day.
What an amazing life Nicky has led ! I did not realise how serious the Corsica crash was.
This is epic! And yes Chris Harris that really is the best podcast so far. Definitely one to download and listen to on some future public transport journey when the world gets back to normal.
Fun to hear stories about Pentti Airikkala. Such a rare topic.
Got completely lost and engrossed with those great stories from Nicky. Brilliant stuff Chris! Thanks
What a fantastic insight to Nicky Grist’s career. Thank you for time to produce this.👍👍
Motorsport interview of the century!!

Absolutely fantastic to listen to this in these hard times! Colin was a legend, but Nicky is also legend in his own right!!
Nicky was a wonderful guest never realised he was such a intelligent well articulated man, Absolutely fab this series Chris.

Top man nicky see him every year on stilo stand at nec...lucky enough to see him at work in the 90s..00s
Brilliant podcast, such amazing detail and recall from Nicky. He needs to write a book already, I need more.
That was the longest podcast i have ever listened to. I was never a huge fan of rallying but that 3 1/2 hours was one of the best listens ever.
Still feels like this podcast is a hidden internet gem, am sure it will blow up soon. Loved it as always
This is a truly wonderful conversation between a car expert and a true world champion legend. Brilliant.
Agreed the best podcast by far. Could listen to another 3 hours easily
Worth every minute. Thank you Chris for the interview and thanks most sincerely Nicky for such an inspirational and entertaining career.

Amazing. Thanks Chris and Ed.
Absolutely fantastic podcast. Loved every second of it.
What an absolute pleasure of a podcast. I've been following Chris on RUclips for god knows how long, and this interview is one of the highlights. Thank you
Superb. What a brilliant guy to listen to. I love that Chris more or less just lets him chat away.
RIP Beef, Burns and Colin
Dave Metcalfe also.
The podcast in the series I was least looking forward to listening to, but the one I enjoyed most; insightful and thoroughly enjouyable

Thanks so much for uploading this! Excellent 21st birthday present :D
Easily the best car based podcast around. 👏
So good. Thanks Chris. Thanks Nicky
Just looked up David Metcalfe on the Manx in the Nova, what a driver, he made that car dance!
This is great stuff! If you can get any more rallyists in the future, I'm all ears. Oh, and Jaffa cakes aren't bloody biscuits!
1 hour 45 in and only half way through - thanks Chris and Nicky!
Man, does time fly by
Great chat guys
I'd LOVE it if you could get Plato on here at some point! I'd love hearing BTCC stories with him.
Thanks Chris !

Awesome, Nickys voice reminds me of the tines I played the Playstation 2 Colin McRae rally games!
