I'm 62. Started to listen to Cat Stevens in the 7th grade and I loved him so much. Still do. His compositions are timeless and lovely. We need his music. Well, I do anyway. Thank you Yusuf.
I'm 45 years old. My father used to play the record "Tea for the Tillerman" during my adolescence years growing up in the late 70's and early 80's. Like everyone in this world I've felt great sorrow, pain and personal losses. Mr. Yusuf/ Cat Stevens has and continues to be a musical escape for me. I travel a lot for work and always have songs from Mr. Stevens wherever I go to help me escape the stress of the daily routine. His music has taken me through the loss of my mother, family pets and now the growth and struggles within my own family. During our car rides I always have songs from Cat. My children will be exposed to all types of music as well as my appreciation of Mr. Stevens. I hope they too can appreciate how much of an impact his music has been to the successes of my life. Mr Islam years ago I could understand your decision to not perform due to religious reasons. I'm an so glad you reconsidered and began performing again. Your intelligence, decency and honesty has made me examine the Islamic faith and has guided me. I'm remain agnostic however your voice has kept reason in the non Islamic world towards your faith. Please come back to NZ. Please next time come to Dunedin. The peace and love inherent in your lyrics are essential to my soul
I hope this isn't offensive to anyone from other countries. I just get so discouraged when I see everything happening around me. I truly don't believe the U.S. is more deserving than any other. All nations are loved & blessed by God.
Yusuf Islam, you have been blessed by God with such beautiful gifts. I admire your message of peace. You have a unique ability to touch many lives through the universal language of music. It is good to be a seeker. I cannot feel prejudice about your chosen religious beliefs, because I have yet to finish reading the Koran. We all have to listen to what personally resonates with us. I am, currently, reading the Koran so that I can understand the Muslim religion. I know that the Holy Bible states in John 14:6 Jesus said to him, “I am the way, and the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me.” In Hebrews 13:8 it says “Jesus Christ is the same yesterday and today and forever.” John 3:16 “For God so loved the world, that he gave his only Son, that whoever believes in him should not perish but have eternal life.” Ephesians 2:8,9 “ For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God: Not of works, lest any man should boast.” John 14:27 “Peace I leave with you; my peace I give to you. Not as the world gives do I give to you. Let not your hearts be troubled, neither let them be afraid.” Blessings to you and your beloved family.
