I bet Cat/Yusuf gets tired of people asking him why he converted (from Christianity) and having to defend that most personal of decisions. If you read the story, at the time he made the decision he was drowning in the ocean (caught in a riptide, maybe?), all alone, and with not much chance of making it safely to shore. He made a promise to God that if he was spared he would make a change in his life. Sure enough, he was miraculously able to make it to shore (IIRC, a piece of driftwood floated within reach right at that moment, or some such?). So, he kept his word. 😄

Absolutely the best singer/songwriter of his/my generation. Beautiful messages in each and every one of his songs.
He also owned a pair of really cool snakeskin knee high boots!
