    Hah! Yeah, Band-Maid makes music for music geeks. It's absolutely alright to geek out to Band-Maid in your reaction that's what we like to hear!
    This song has quickly climbed into my top tiers of Band-Maid songs and that's a really tough list to climb. I got to see this song live in LA, Dallas, Houston, and Chicago last month.
    It slaps way harder live, especially when MISA hits her solos and takes center stage..... and then there's Saiki's and Miku's glorious vocals above it all.
    There's lots of fan cams out there from the recent US tour but no official concert videos for this, yet.

Now check out their latest instrumental FROM NOW ON, then back that up with a previous Live instrumental ONSET-LIVE. You may not listen to another Rock band after that. Both Awesome and awesomely inspiring are BAND-MAID. Just keep listening and watching and throw out all the rules. Peace. 34.4

    Influencer was amazing live, the highlight was the bass solo live. The way Neptune theater carried their sound ...chef's kiss.. another thing that's special about their live performances is that every once in awhile they go off the map and go into an opening solo with a song that wasn't present in the studio album or a solo mid song. After watching the performance at Tokyo Garden Theater which was just recently released physically they did that a few times and when they did an opening solo to a song you didn't know what song was coming up

    Many complain about the 'over production' on some of their studio mixes. My main complaint in that area is the vocal effects they put on Saiki's voice. Listening to her sing live shows that she doesn't need any help at all. Though most do tend to fit what the song is going for. So, it doesn't bother me enough to dismiss a song because of that fact. I still prefer them live but they always sound good no matter what the engineers do to them after the fact.
    As far as I know they have no official live version of this but there are some fan cams out there with them doing this live. I tend to stick to watching their interaction with the crowd with the fan cams as they are very entertaining when they play with the crowd and the fan cam sound isn't normally that great.
    Thanks for this reaction. Great song. Saiki rapping is something I didn't know I needed. She can do anything she likes it seems. And Miku's scream is awesome. She's also the main lyricist so give her the props she deserves. Miku is the heart of Band-Maid.
    Arigatou, po!

    Location is a decommissioned granite quarry in the Ishikiri Mountains, Ibaraki from 1909 era that produces the "Inada" stone or "white lady" stone because of its white luster, strong and durable, like Band Maid, Po! Also, Japanese origin - "Honcho-dori" was the "Main Street" in Yokohama (same area Band Maid had their 2021 Christmas concert). Story say the American sailors, during the late 1800, were directed to follow this road back to the ship. Therefore, "easy street" to get back to the ship after liberty. Most likely pronounced by the sailors as "Hunky Dory." Btw, the lyrics, its on point about the influencing culture, Po! 🦍 Vladamir Chupin's YT Channel has a lot of Fancam vids from their recent US tour, and the quality is great, both audio and HD vids. Sadly, there are no official live MV for "Influencer," but we are anticipating a Christmas gift of some sort, perhaps, a BTS documentary of their recent US tour (since they have been posting a lot of pics in civilian settings on their individual IG accounts)? That would be great, Po! Great reaction!🍌

    Thanks again from Japan 有難う 💛。 This song was played in 11 shows during their US tour (13 concerts + 1 festival). Edward Allen gave you a link to the live performance in LA. This MV was filmed at a famous and old stone quarry (Ishikiri-Sanmyaku) located in Ibaraki prefecture, north of Tokyo. Kanami, the lead guitarist, was very scared when she stood near the brink of the cliff but she could defy the fear once cameras started to capture her playing scene. [source : Gekirock News]. Saiki is singing "Hunky Dory" repeatedly. It sounds to me, an aged Japanese, a kind of word play or pun. This phrase is very close to Japanese expression "Honki (本気) Dori (or Tori 撮り)" that means 「本気」= serious, earnest, sincere" and 「撮り」= filming, recording, image capturing". This is cynically suitable 😄 to what influencers do, isn't it? In the rap part Saiki is also singing "Always that one-upping contest, chit-chat chit-chat". "Chit-chat" sounds like "chicchai ちっちゃい" in Japanese. That means "tiny, trivial, frivolous, worthless etc." Miku's lyrics includes a lot of word play and Miku admitted she did it on purpose in an interview [source : Spice Oct.7]. "Influencer" was premiered (live debut) on Sep.7 at Zepp DiverCity Tokyo in Band-Maid's pre-US concert. Just so you know, I witnessed it at the venue ヽ(^o^)丿.

    • @garykeeling2275
      @garykeeling2275 Год назад +2

      I'm not sure if the "hunky dory" phrase was meant to be derivative of something from Japanese, or if it's entirely meant to be one of the several English phrasings in the song. In English "hunky dory" is a common phrase that means "everything is okay." Same with "chit chat" - it may be a derivation of something from Japanese, or it may actually be the English words "chit chat," which means to make small talk or to speak without really saying anything important.

    • @TomClark-Futoura
      @TomClark-Futoura Год назад +3

      @@garykeeling2275 Except the English usage is usually meant sarcastically. Like during WWI, a soldier in a trench comes up to his comrade, and with bombs exploding everywhere, he says, "How's it going?" And the soldier replies, "Oh, everything is just Hunky Dory!"

    • @garykeeling2275
      @garykeeling2275 Год назад +3

      @@TomClark-Futoura True, and it could be meant in a sarcastic manner here. The whole song has a bit of a critical and sarcastic tone to it. Influencers often thrive on controversy and negativity, so it could be meant as a sarcastic commentary on that.

    They do have a couple of songs that could be deemed "sexual" but those songs are very tame compared to American songs on the same subject. Personally I give their lyrics 8/12 out of ten!

    So you have done Band Maid and Lovebites, but you haven't done Nemophila, another all female Japanese metal band. Nemophila blew away the crowd at Aftershock 2022, for a band that formed in 2019 and unknown outside of Japan, they were just too good. Nemophila, like Lovebites, traces its origins, at least in part, to the band Destrose (pioneering Japanese all female metal band, long story, so many members, so many bands formed from the ashes).
